In the blink of an eye, all the thugs except two of them had been defeated. After realizing that the situation didn’t look hopeful, each of them pulled a folding knife out of their pockets and snapped the blades out. They then performed threatening gestures towards Xia Yan and Qi Ziyu, yet they didn’t dare to actually attack the two.
Only 30 seconds had passed since the moment Xia Yan had begun fighting, so the crowd was still pretty small, and all of them were left dumbstruck after watching two students take down five to six thugs so violently.
“Are they shooting a movie?” A fruit seller remarked subconsciously, and this caused the others to have the same thought as well, prompting them to look in all directions to see whether they could find the cameras.
Xia Yan felt a little apprehensive when he watched the two thugs pull out the folding knives, but Qi Ziyu’s expression changed little. She yelled towards him, “Return to the campus quickly!”
“All right!” Xia Yan came to his senses after hearing her words. They would undoubtedly land in trouble if they got surrounded by a massive crowd, as freshmen fighting with thugs outside the campus would, at the very least, lead to a minor criminal charge or a substantial demerit by the university. Hence, he and Qi Ziyu left the place promptly and sprinted towards the campus together. As the spectators of the crowd weren’t as zealous as fans, so none of them chased after them.
The two of them stopped running after they had reached inside the campus and then began laughing at once after giving each other a look.
“We have to fight twice in less than a day, just what kind of aggro are you pulling? I even got provoked so blatantly!” Xia Yan chuckled at her.
“Fortunately, we won both times!” Qi Ziyu still didn’t dare to take off her sunglasses and hat even though they had entered the campus. She then looked at Xia Yan and asked with worry, “You aren’t injured, right?”
“Probably not?” Xia Yan checked his chest and arms and found no injuries.
“I was referring to your back. After all, you carried me on your back for a while just now!” Qi Ziyu asked with concern and walked behind him. Xia Yan pulled his shirt up so that she could check it, and then, she said, “It looks fine,”
“I have high endurance. Haha!” Xia Yan chuckled and lowered his shirt before praising her with a click of his tongue, “So you really do know how to fight. You fought quite prettily just now!”
“It was pretty easy on me since all of them were busy hitting you!” Qi Ziyu smiled and then said, “But you are really strong. If you practice well, you’ll definitely surpass me as well.”
“I’ll learn one of the fighting techniques if I have the time for it,” Xia Yan nodded.
“I’ll return to the dorm first then. I’ll definitely get interrogated by those gossipy women after going back!” Qi Ziyu smiled at him.
“Me too!” Xia Yan lamented in his heart as Zhao Qiang and Qin Jian, these two fellows, were even more gossipy than girls.
The smile on Xia Yan’s face disappeared after Qi Ziyu turned around and left. He knew he had made a mistake a few days ago the moment he saw the two pickpockets, the fatty and the punk. He thought that he should have nipped the problem in the bud, else it wouldn’t have come back to bite him like this. [I should have acted a bit more ruthlessly when dealing with them back then. Those two fellows wouldn’t have even had the thoughts of taking revenge if I had done that.]
[Fortunately, it was Qi Ziyu, who possessed the ability to defend herself, at my side today. If it were Xiaoyu or the others, they might have gotten harmed.]
Xia Yan knew that today’s fight wouldn’t have scared the thugs. They would hold thoughts of revenge like the previous time and keep looking for a chance to take revenge on him as he hadn’t shown any threat to them other than having higher strength. As the bald man had lost face today, he would have to take revenge, or else it would become hard for him to keep mingling within the city’s criminal world.
“I just have to make them fear me, and they wouldn’t dare to appear near Sihe University ever again!” Xia Yan fiddled with the three Horcruxes on his chest and formulated a plan in his mind.
Xia Yan spent the entire afternoon dealing with Zhao Qiang and Qin Jian, whose souls were raging with the flames of gossip, as well as the other fellows from the adjacent dorm rooms who had dropped in to join the fun. As for the online news, Xia Yan had no plans to read them as he knew that the comments wouldn’t have any friendly advice for him. He naturally didn’t care about the nonsensical opinions of the keyboard warriors.
After the military training ended in the afternoon, he got invited by the girls of H504 to have food together at the dining hall once again and underwent all kinds of interrogations for a while. The pity-invoking expression on Xiaoyu’s face made him feel a bit distressed. At the same time, An Xiaoru and Anna went on the offensive against him and declared that Xia Yan had failed to live up to Xiaoyu. Xia Yan could only smile wryly in response to their accusation.
Fortunately, the girls weren’t furious and were just gossiping with each other, that’s all. The reason they had criticized him so vehemently was all for the sake of generating more gossip too.
After evening had arrived, Xia Yan packed the magician’s robe into his backpack and came to Hearthcreek Apartments.
“Oh, look! Our Casanova has arrived!” Le Wenqing, who was eating an apple while watching a show on TV, commented faintly.
The bathroom’s door closed with a whoosh, and Zhang Shufen cursed at him from inside, “Xia Yan, did you install a webcam inside the house secretly or what? Why do you always arrive when I’m using the bathroom to relieve myself? Are you doing it to peep on me deliberately? I’ll kick the hell out of you, I meant it!”
Xia Yan’s face darkened after he heard her words, [Does that mean you always use the bathroom without locking the door?]
Xia Yan placed the take-out box of barbecue on the tea table in passing and walked towards his room, even deliberately knocking the bathroom’s door to irritate Zhang Shufen while passing by it.
The undead element within the mirror emerged out as usual and was forced back inside by the power of the three Horcruxes. Xia Yan observed the room, and after making sure nothing had changed, he placed the backpack on the bed and returned to the living room.
Le Wenqing was in the middle of taking out bottles of beer from the freezer and called out to him when she saw him, “We have barbecue and beer each time you come here. We’ll become fatter if this keeps going on!”
“Shall I not bring it next time then?” Xia Yan helped her hold the beer bottles and asked with a smile on his face.
“Continue bringing it!” Le Wenqing replied instantaneously.
“But drinking should be done in moderation, or else, the unthinkable might end up happening!” She added.
“I’m not that kind of person!” Xia Yan defended himself immediately.
“Pfft!” Le Wenqing smirked while squinting at him, and Xia Yan immediately felt like his integrity had received damage of 10,000 points.
Compared to Le Wenqing, the silent killer, Zhang Shufen, was simply a prim and proper lady.
A moment later, followed by the sound of flushing water, Zhang Shufen left the bathroom and sat beside Xia Yan. She then patted his shoulders and asked, “Tell me now. How did you hook up with Qi Ziyu?”
“They are just rumors!” Xia Yan shook his head.
“There’s no smoke without a fire, we have pics as proof!” Zhang Shufen stated.
“The matter isn’t like what you are thinking,” Xia Yan attempted to explain it.
“How exactly is it then?” Zhang Shufen questioned closely.
“… You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you!” Xia Yan kept his mouth shut as he didn’t wish to argue.
“Young man, you really have prospects. You formed a fellowship with the girls’ dorm with the prettiest women just recently. And now, you are pursuing the goddess of millions. Do you know that you have already become the public enemy of all men on the campus?” Zhang Shufen asked sincerely.
Xia Yan didn’t answer her and had the barbecue in silence. He understood that the more he tried to explain it, the bigger deal Zhang Shufen would make out of it. Furthermore, Le Wenqing was eyeing him from the side for the right moment to take a jab at him too.
The proverb, ‘Silence is golden!’ wasn’t just empty talk. As he didn’t answer her, Zhang Shufen let him off in the end, and the trio watched the TV while dining on the barbecue and beer with satisfaction. As Xia Yan sat between the two women, he could sense the distinct aroma of shower gel wafting over from the two girls towards him. A look down brought their long, fair-skinned legs into his view, and a look upwards brought their perfect cheekbones and pretty face into his view.
This scene made his heart pound harder and made him feel restless. He didn’t even know what the TV was playing at the moment.
“Does it look nice?” Le Wenqing asked suddenly.
“It looks nice!” Xia Yan replied instinctively and immediately realized that he had been taken in.
“Shufen, lift your nightie higher so our Casanova can have a better look,” Le Wenqing added.
“Why don’t you do it yourself?” Zhang Shufen said resentfully.
“Your legs look nicer!” Le Wenqing answered.
“Oh, that’s true!” Zhang Shufen stated pleasingly.
“The TV looks nicer, in my opinion!” Xia Yan couldn’t bear it in the end. He stood up immediately and ran to his room as if he were fleeing and locked the door firmly. Meanwhile, the two women outside laughed delightfully at his reaction.
