Bloody mist drifted in the sky as bits and pieces of the cultivator dropped everywhere. It was a sight to behold.
The Peak Sacred Lord Realm Elder’s artifact too, was crushed into pieces during the fight.
Gu Changge, on the other hand, stood in the middle of the scene, his clothes still spotless and his hair as shiny as wax. At the same time, the cycling black and white divine light slowly faded away from his palm. However, the bone-chilling horror still lingered in the air, sending chills down everyone’s spine.
Everyone watched the scene unfold with shock and amazement, and fear. It was even more so for the numerous Sect Masters. They had thought Gu Changge was powerful enough for them to keep an eye out for him, but who’d have thought he was actually this strong!?
He was only in his early twenties, and yet he could kill a Peak Sacred Lord Realm expert with such ease. It was an absolutely tall tale to anyone who heard of it!
If it were in the past, they absolutely wouldn’t have believed something like this would happen. However, it happened right before their eyes just a few seconds ago, and they knew they had to accept the reality.
[He’s fully-fledged now…] That was all the cultivators of the Immortal Wang Family, Sky Emperor Mountain, and Ancient Ye Family had in mind when they looked at the man up in the air with incredibly mixed feelings.
The crowd of young prodigies behind them were, too, stupefied with eyes widened with sheer horror, unable to come to themselves for a long while.
[We’re of the same generation, and yet we’re night and day apart!]
Many had felt overwhelmed for a long time. Gu Changge was so invincible that their hearts trembled, and they couldn’t even think of beating him. The man was like an insurmountable mountain that hung above the numerous young prodigies’ heads, making them feel sincerely hopeless and powerless.
“To the young ones, to be living in the same generation as someone like you is nothing but a tragedy…” an Elder sighed as he looked around to find many young prodigies’ pale white faces. He got what they were thinking and wasn’t surprised.
They had only learned of Gu Changge’s great power through stories and hearsay before this, but seeing it for themselves now left them absolutely shaken.
“To think Young Master has gotten so powerful. No doubt he’ll catch up to Master in no time.”
“The Master was also a peerless existence in his generation back then. Still, compared to Young Master, he still seems kinda dull.”
“Young Master sure is a monster!”
Those from the Immortal Gu Family lamented as revere filled their gazes.
“Young Master Gu Changge has advanced so far that he can rival us now…” The Sect Masters exchanged a glance, their brightly-lit eyes filled with mixed emotions.
On the other hand, the King with Six Crowns, the Phoenix Lady, Chosen Monk Jin Chan and the disciples of the Immortal Academy were also naturally gobsmacked. Everyone was long entrenched by Gu Changge’s great power, and many had been guessing just how powerful he truly was. At last, they had finally seen it for themselves.
“He’s nothing but a monster…” the Phoenix Lady mumbled as her gazes changed by the second. “Even us Ranked Disciples are an entire level beneath him.”
The King with Six Crowns, Jun Yao, would’ve retorted her any other day, but right now, he was silent, looking absolutely at a loss for words.
“This has always been Young Master Changge’s level of strength…” Chosen Monk Jin Chan, on the other hand, reacted fairly calmly. However, a thought hit him. [How does the Successor of Demonic Arts escape his grasp every time, then? Could he be just that powerful?]
While everyone was feeling all sorts of emotions, Gu Changge landed on the ground and looked towards the shocked and grim-looking Godly Illusion Clan. Jiang Luoshen especially, with an impassive smirk. “Are you not going to avenge them, Princess Luoshen? I wonder what you make of this misunderstanding?”
Jiang Luoshen gnashed her teeth and clenched her fists as rage and uneasiness enveloped her face.
As assertive as she normally was, she dared not look straight into Gu Changge’s profound, impassive gaze right then. She couldn’t help looking away despite still acting tough. “I acknowledge your ability, Gu Changge, but we, the Godly Illusion Clan, won’t fall victim to bullies either.” She sounded much feebler compared to earlier.
Everyone present was naturally shrewd and could make out the uncertainty in her voice. After all, it was impossible not to be shocked when a cultivator who was just about to reach the Sacred King Realm was killed just like that.
Unless the Godly Illusion Clan dared to fight Gu Changge to the death, the ball wasn’t theirs to serve, given the current circumstances.
There were far too many people from different forces in the Godly Illusion Tomb, and it didn’t help that all of them were eyeing this place. She, on the other hand, was beyond noble, given her identity as the future Empress of the Godly Illusion Clan, and she naturally understood that she had to swallow all her pride, anger and grievances right now. It did not matter how badly she wanted to explode.
Though what happened was humiliating, she had no way of washing it away and redeeming it.
Though Gu Changge chuckled in response, his voice was still impassive. “Is that so? Then, don’t you think you should show me what your Godly Illusion Clan is capable of, Princess Luoshen?”
Everyone became apprehensive as chills ran down their spines. [Is Gu Changge asking Jiang Luoshen to fight him personally?!]
Sure, Jiang Luoshien was the most powerful fighter amongst the Godly Illusion Clan of her generation, but she was still leagues below Gu Changge! In fact, all of them believed she had nothing on the man after witnessing his powers. It was evident she would be defeated or perhaps even killed in the process, and everyone couldn’t help shuddering in fear of the possibility.
They didn’t doubt Gu Changge’s methods as countless had died in his hands since his birth, after all. Though he normally looked gentlemanly, his ruthlessness should never be doubted.
Jiang Luoshen’s countenance turned beyond awful, even feeling humiliated at that, for she hadn’t expected such words from Gu Changge.
She naturally knew what Gu Changge was trying to do. If she really fell for Gu Changge’s provocation and fought him, she was likely to die. She was no match for him at all; she knew that at the very least.
That said, if she displayed weakness and refused, she’d have disgraced herself and the Godly Illusion Clan in front of so many people.
Seeing so, a blond elderly woman next to Jiang Luoshen with profound powers whispered to the young woman gravely, for fear that the latter’s impulsiveness out of youth would ruin everything. “We can’t clash with them anymore, Princess. We have to hold back now… Gu Changge is insanely powerful; you’re no match for him. You mustn’t let your impulse get the better of you.”
Jiang Luoshen gnashed her teeth, and she naturally knew the Elder was right.
Very quickly, she took a deep breath to calm down. “Gu Changge, as the number one of the younger generation, you know well that I’m no match for you, and yet you still pick on me like that. Is this what you always do?” she retorted as a hint of grievance flashed across her amber eyes staring at him.
Her words shocked everyone, and they couldn’t believe such words would come from her, as it was no secret how lofty this princess of the Godly Illusion Clan was.
Yue Mingkong, who stood amongst the Immortal Academy disciples, narrowed her eyes slightly at that.
In her memories, Jiang Luoshen had sent her men to this place in search of her ancestors’ relics after the Godly Illusion Tomb emerged. But then they encountered Gu Changge in the vault. At that time, not only had he seized their Prime Ancestor’s Divinity Crystal from them, but they were defeated by him and even nearly died there.
Subsequently, Jiang Luoshen would visit Gu Changge at the Gu Family Residence every now and then for some reason. She even pretended as though the man had never seized the Divinity Crystal from them or, worse, nearly killed them.
That said, Gu Changge treated her with nothing but impassiveness and disinclination. In fact, Jiang Luoshen would mostly be shut out whenever she visited. However, she never gave up, and many members of the Gu Family were moved and impressed by her persistence but, at the same time, bewildered.
Of course, the young woman met with a tragic fate in the end. Word was that she encountered the Successor of Demonic Arts during her trip back to her Clan and was murdered.
Previous life Yue Mingkong felt a little bad for her as she thought Jiang Luoshen was unlucky. But she was more relieved than sympathetic, of course, for she didn’t like Jiang Luoshen’s persistence, worrying Gu Changge would eventually be moved.
Looking at it now, Jiang Luoshen eventually died at the hands of Gu Changge. Even so, Yue Mingkong had to admit she still felt inexplicably jealous as she watched the scene in front of her.
Meanwhile, Gu Changge was surprised Jiang Luoshen would actually yield so quickly. That said, his tone remained the same. “Pick on you? What makes you say that? That wasn’t what you said earlier.”
At that, Jiang Luoshen stared icily at him. “My people know we’re in the wrong, so what more do you want when Jiang Ming and our Grand Elder had already died in your hands? Are you going to kill me too?”
The next second, many Sect Masters looked towards Gu Changge with an enigmatic countenance.
The Godly Illusion Clan had already paid the price for what they did. After all, a Peak Scared Lord Realm Master wasn’t just anybody on the street. They were the pillars of any force, a vital existence. Even the Godly Illusion Clan would be pained by the loss and certainly wouldn’t just sit back and do nothing. Thus, it’d be inexcusable if Gu Changge continued to hold onto the matter, even if he was the Young Master of the Immortal Gu Family, and people would start to think of him as tyrannical.
Furthermore, members of the other forces present wouldn’t just sit idly by and allow the Immortal Gu Family to be so domineering. After all, there had been a tacit understanding between the different forces of the Upper Realm for countless years, to try to not overstretch one’s boundaries..
One had to admit that Jiang Luoshen was shrewd, making herself the victim effortlessly. Moreover, she looked like a goddess with her long blond hair, impeccable facial features, and fair, flawless skin. So, naturally, many young prodigies felt bad for her.
Gu Changge, on the other hand, chuckled without a care. He naturally knew what she was trying to do. “That’d be an exaggeration, Princess Luoshen. I never consider myself a ruthless man, nor one to ever inflict violence upon women. No way would I do something like that. Of course, if you don’t believe me, you can try seeing for yourself if I will kill you.”
His smile was as nonchalant as ever, like he was only stating a measly issue. But chills ran down Jiang Luoshen’s spine inexplicably, having a feeling that Gu Changge genuinely wanted to feel what it was like to kill her.
After all, who could guarantee the outcome of a battle? Nonetheless, she was not that stupid to act on such meager chances.
Everyone reacted differently but, at the same time, felt shocked and uneasy towards Gu Changge’s words. [He can’t possibly be daring enough to kill Jiang Luoshen in front of everyone, can he?!]
“Of course, I believe you. Why wouldn’t I!? Since you already put it like that, I’ll naturally believe you.” Jiang Luoshen was not someone ordinary either. Though she felt absolutely apprehensive, she still put up a calm front, staring impassively right into Gu Changge’s eyes as she chose to avoid fighting him without hesitation.
Of course, everyone, too, thought it was a wise decision.
She first painted herself as a victim, then let everyone know Gu Changge planned to kill her. That way, she could very naturally and justifiably avoid the fight and also not have to worry about disgracing herself.
Such measures got many Elders sighing with approval. [As expected of the princess of the Godly Illusion Clan. She sure shouldn’t be taken lightly.]
“Huh, in that case, I hope you can show me what you’re capable of next time, Princess Luoshen.” Gu Changge chuckled nonchalantly, seemingly not giving her a hard time anymore.
That said, everyone caught the threat in his words: ‘you can run, but you can’t hide.’
Horrific chills crept up to them all at once. [He’s still not letting it go!]
Jiang Luoshen naturally caught his threat as well, and she gritted her teeth in response. Then, with a disdainful snort, she flashed away and headed to the area near the crack and the palace. Meanwhile, the rest of the Godly Illusion Clan transformed into divine rainbows and followed after her.
Jiang Chen and Monk Pu Du, too, hurriedly followed after them.
Suffer, would the mortals when gods fight. Be it Gu Changge or Jiang Luoshen, neither was an existence they could afford to cross.
What Jiang Chen witnessed on this day made him shudder in fear, feeling deeply hopeless and powerless. He now got an even deeper understanding of Gu Changge’s great power. That said, even Jiang Luoshen, whom he thought was ever lofty and noble, could only suffer humiliation and gain nothing from Gu Changge.
After the Godly Illusion Clan left, everyone else, too, no longer gathered around.
The drama earlier was so shocking and awe-inspiring that everyone still couldn’t recover from it.
Right then, Gu Xianer took a crisp gander at Gu Changge and couldn’t help asking, “Won’t there be repercussions for what happened today?”
“What repercussions?” Gu Changge said without a care. “Do you really think the Godly Illusion Clan dared to fight against me?”
The young woman knew at once that Gu Changge made nothing of the matter.
Then again, she was the reason the whole incident happened, and Gu Changge had done so entirely to stand up for her. So, she wondered if she should thank him as much as she didn’t want to. [No no no. That’s the least he should do when he loves to bully me so much! That’s right!]
“Can you stop causing trouble from now on? I always have to clean up after you in the end.” Gu Changge’s helpless voice sounded, interrupting Gu Xianer’s thoughts, stumping her a little.
Surprised that Gu Changge would reproach her instead, she retorted with animosity, “You think it’s my fault?! I had just picked up some cracked stone with engravings on it, and that guy came out of nowhere, accusing me of stealing his thing! He even made me give it to him, or he’d kill me. Do you expect me to actually give it to him?!”
She replied with grievance welled up within her. [I mean… I just picked up a cracked stone, you know? And it just happened to drop next to me! To think I’d even get myself in trouble like that!]
“Really?” Gu Changge quirked a brow, seemingly not believing her words. “Why do I think you’re mocking my intelligence? As if a mere stone engraving can cause such a big ruckus.”
“And what would I get from lying to you?” Gu Xianer glared at him with displeasure. “Do you think everyone’s a liar like you?!”
“Really?” Gu Changge was still doubtful. “But it’s just some cracked stone engraving, right? Can it be that it has some special properties?”
“Well…” At that, Gu Xianer pulled out the faintly glowing, cracked, light purple stone engraving with unrecognisable divine scripts from her storage ring.
“Here, this is it,” she said.
Gu Changge took it from her and took a careless glance at it before nodding. “Hmm, it does have some special properties. No wonder it can cause a tragedy.”
With that, the stone engraving disappeared from his hand.
Gu Xianer’s eyes widened with incredulity at that, dumbstruck for a moment. It only came to her what had just happened after she drifted her gaze to him. [You! You are going to snatch my treasure just like that!?]
