Golden sands rolled and shards of bone flew. The round sun was as red as blood as it set. One after another, divine rainbows shot across the sky to this particular location. Lin Wu’s hair was curled as his dragon-like body pierced through the sky. He had an astonishing aura. In fact, his cultivation was the top among his peers in the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains, and he was not inferior to those from the older generation.
As much as he was filled with rage and resentment, he was even more uneasy and worried.
They passed through Aether Abyss after they came out of Sky Deer City. After leaving quietly, they rushed to the Boundary Marker Sea. They hardly stopped at all along the way, but what they saw made them burst with rage.
Former areas run by the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains were now occupied by the forces of the Upper Realm. A lot of places were still burning with seemingly inextinguishable flames that could scorch the sky. The land stretching hundreds of thousands of kilometres was barren without any signs of life. However, they were helpless despite watching this happen. All they could do was watch from the sidelines before quietly leaving.
“Those damned Upper World bastards! They commit arson, murder, theft, robbery, and all kinds of evil. They won’t give up if they don’t break through the defences of Sky Deer City and enter our Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains! What kind of enmity is there between us and them…”
Some of them turned red from suppressing their anger. Their hearts were filled with both hatred and apprehensiveness because the enemies they were going to face now were thousands of times more terrifying than those they saw along the way. This was a journey with barely any chance of survival. All of them knew this, and they were fully ready to lose their lives.
The Sky Deer Goddess had been following Lin Wu and the rest of them. She hadn’t shown herself once though. Hearing this, she couldn’t help inwardly sighing. The expression on her face only turned complicated when she thought of an ancient secret. Soon after, she said to Lin Wu, “Take everyone and leave after you saved your beloved.”
She didn’t intend to let this group of people die for no reason.
Lin Wu was taken aback by her words, and he couldn’t help asking, “What about you, Goddess?”
He respected the Sky Deer Goddess from the bottom of his heart. Judging from the events that had happened during this period, he could tell that she was so focused on the safety of Sky Deer City that she even went to the Boundary Marker Sea in person. She does not plan to escape to safety even if her life was in danger. Her great kindness and virtue in doing anything she could for the sake of the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains and its people made him admire her a lot. He thought that no one would be able to repay her for her grace.
“I’ll keep the pursuers from coming after you while I solve this massive headache,” Sky Deer Goddess reassured him with a smile on her face, giving off a refined and natural feeling as if she was talking about something simple.
Lin Wu was silent. Knowing that he couldn’t help her with his current strength, he clenched his fists out of the feeling of being powerless.
Soon, the sound of big waves crashing into the sky could be heard from the end of the universe. The force was so huge and unparalleled that it seemed as if another world had crashed onto their. This was the World Force from the Boundary Marker Sea. Supposedly, one wave could be composed of broken ancient worlds and universes, and even small worlds could be seen rolling and floating in it.
After arriving here, they could feel the aura of evil soaring into the sky, hovering between heaven and earth. Countless experts had fallen here, and the grievances of the dead enveloped the world in a grey mist. On the cliff in the distance, three blurry figures could be standing there as light and shadow faded. They looked like they were separated by an ancient universe.
“Gu Changge!” Lin Wu growled and clenched his fists when he saw the young man from a distance, still with that blank and indifferent expression as he stood above them all. He had on white clothes as clean and spotless as snow, and his extraordinary and refined aura was that of a fairy from the heavens. His whole body was shrouded in divine light surrounded by Chaos Qi. Just by standing there, he seemed to be the centre of the universe. Not even the void could withstand his presence.
He seemed to have been calmly waiting for their arrival as he gave off an unparalleled sense of tranquillity. Despite looking like an Immortal, Gu Changge was cruel and dispassionate in his ways, which made people fear him to the bone. The mighty waves from the Boundary Marker Sea crashed, but they collapsed into ashes scattered in the air behind him.
Standing on the cliff, Gu Changge let out a small smile when he saw Lin Wu, along with many experts, catching up to him. “You’re here! You lived up to my expectations after all.”
“Gu Changge!” Lin Wu roared in rage. He and the others descended from the sky and stood in a line as they stared at Gu Changge with watchful eyes. “I have come as you asked. Now let Lu Luo go.”
“Lady Lu Luo…” Grandma Lu Cui cast a worried look at Lu Luo, whose cultivation had been sealed off as she was firmly restrained in place.
“Lin Wu, you dummy… You shouldn’t have come. I don’t deserve it.” Although Lu Luo’s complexion was pale, she couldn’t hide how touched she felt. Her eyes began to turn red as if she might cry any moment now.
“Are you alright, Lu Luo?” Worried that she was hurt during this time, he caringly looked at her. However, he felt relieved to see that she still seemed fine, and her aura was still robust despite having her cultivation sealed.
“I’m fine.” She shook her head with a touched yet worried look on her face.
“True love, hmm? Even I’m moved.” Gu Changge interrupted the two pouring their hearts out at each other and waved at Ah Da, who was behind him, to grab Lu Luo.
“Gu Changge! Let go of her and just directly come at me!” Upon seeing this, Lin Wu felt his anger rise, and even his eyes seemed to be on the verge of shooting out flames as he glared at Gu Changge. “I’ve come as you told me to. What more do you want?!”
If it wasn’t for his low cultivation level, he would have charged ahead and fought Gu Changge a few hundred times.
“I can let her go, but you have to agree to a request I have. Otherwise, I will throw her down from behind here. I wonder if she can bear the impacts of the waves from the Boundary Marker Sea? Will she be smashed to pieces?” Gu Changge smiled and nonchalantly thought out loud while he hinted that Ah Da could do as he instructed at any time. A terrifying wind swept from under the cliff then. Not only the younger generation but even the older generation who were in the Sacred Lord Realm did not dare to approach it.
Lu Luo immediately turned pale from fear, but she only clenched her teeth tightly without making a sound or begging for mercy. Her stubbornness made her seem like she wasn’t afraid to die.
“Stop!” Lin Wu growled shakily as his face fell. He was so fueled by hatred he could go crazy. The many experts behind him also looked alarmed as they were worried Gu Changge would tell his underling to drop Lu Luo.
However, Lu Luo let out a content smile at this moment. Like the sun that was about to set on the horizon, her smile looked poignantly beautiful. “Lin Wu, don’t. He wants you to act as his spy and open the Array Core of Sky Deer City. I am already more than happy just to see you come to save me. I have no regrets even if I die.”
“Lu Luo…” Lin Wu’s heart was a twisted mess, and his eyes were red. He couldn’t calm down at all. His heart felt like it was going to tear apart especially when he heard Lu Luo’s decisive words.
“What she said is exactly what I was hoping for. If you agree to my request, I will let her go. And if you don’t, pray that you can see her in your next life.” Gu Changge still had an indifferent and faint smile on his face as if he was in no hurry. His intrigued eyes then swept over Lin Wu before they fell somewhere behind him.
*Poof!*
At this moment, a crystal-clear rain of light fell. The rays then turned into terrifying big stars that loudly rumbled and rolled before they covered the sky. With that, the sky was filled with golden rays of light which held the might of a mountain as they rained down on Gu Changge!
“You’re finally fighting back,” Gu Changge mentioned with a small smile on his face. He didn’t look surprised at all.
As he pointed ahead with one finger, a mighty power like a universe crushing past appeared, and the stars all over the sky shattered. The sky and land proceeded to collapse as the universe trembled. The terrifying energy that rolled back soon split the sky open.
Power that transcended the Sacred Emperor Realm gushed out of the territory immediately. Stars trembled and were about to fall. Even those in the far distance could feel this terrifying energy, and they couldn’t help but kneel down and pay respects to the unrivalled monarch who unleashed it.
“What!?” Everyone other than Lin Wu looked at this scene in shock. They didn’t expect that there would be a mighty expert hiding in the dark. This attack caused them to tremble uncontrollably, and they couldn’t help but bow to the front and fall to their knees.
Like a Buddha Lotus shining brightly and intertwined with a divine glow, a slender figure in white clothes walked out of nothingness, prompting everyone to think that this was a female Immortal who descended from the Immortal World.
Her temperament was ethereal and holy. When she waved her bare hands, a misty clear light emerged and evolved into various supreme divine abilities as Chaos Qi permeated the air.
Eight brilliant and eye-catching ancient characters —’Heaven, Earth, Universe, Chaos’— came out with the intention to overturn the world.
Seeing this, Lin Wu took the chance to take out forbidden weapons he had prepared a long time ago while he yelled, “Lu Luo!”
The weapons then turned into pieces of terrifying, astounding runes that charged towards Ah Da. The rest also took action by doing everything in their power to save Lu Luo when they saw this.
Although they were well prepared before coming here, they were still no match for Ah Da, who was in the Quasi-Nirvana Realm. He only had to thrust a palm forward to send everyone flying backwards, causing them to cough up blood. They also almost exploded because of the attack. Even if they had two Sacred Emperor Realm experts with them, they still didn’t stand a chance. They ended up being flung upside down as they got soaked in the blood they coughed up.
Lin Wu was the first to bear the brunt of this. With a muffled groan, his whole body was torn apart and almost turned into powder. Fortunately, the phantom of a True Dragon appeared to surge from his blood and seemed to revive him at the critical moment. Ancient energy then rose up and quickly healed his injuries. Still, the damage he sustained was so serious that he had already lost his ability to fight.
“Is this all you got?” Gu Changge casually mocked as he took a glance at Lin Wu. He then inquisitively turned to look at the white-clad lady. [I knew a big fish would come, but this one is really big. Judging from the fluctuation of energy from that attack just now, she has surpassed the strength of an average True Daoist. There aren’t many True Daoists left in the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains. Furthermore, this one is a woman.]
“Let me guess, you are…” Gu Changge looked at the woman in white in front of him. Brilliant runes like fragmented gold flashed in her eyes. As they were crushed by the movement of the Great Dao, the rumbling of thunder could be heard from within the void.
Surrounded by light, the Sky Deer Goddess took a look at the heavily injured Lin Wu and the others before she waved a hand and she spoke impassively, “He who is unjust is doomed to destruction. Knowing who I am doesn’t change a thing.”
*Whoosh!* At the very next moment, a golden Dao Book appeared above her head and flipped by itself. As the pages made a rustling sound, a clear and mysterious brilliance flashed across the pages flowing with Dao energy.
This was a very mysterious supreme treasure. The moment it appeared, it released a striking divine glow that lit up every cover of the world, as if it had turned into a universe that tried to suppress Gu Changge. In this universe, there were many stars that seemed like they could change with just her thought and turn into various divine abilities.
A celestial Light seemed to have descended, creating sounds of the Great Dao. The planets and stars were all affected as the void collapsed, and they quickly fell towards Gu Changge.
Gu Changge raised his eyebrows when he noticed this strange technique. So, he asked, somewhat surprised, “Heaven-Subduing Technique? I see. The Sky Deer Goddess! I didn’t think you would join in on a quest to kill me. It is an honour. Truly. But, where did that confidence of yours come from? Is it because you defeated and killed a True Daoist from some Ancient Royal Family in front of Sky Deer City?”
Despite his words, his tone was casual. It didn’t seem like her answer would matter much to him. As he spoke, he flicked his fingers forward, and a thick but incomparably sharp Sword Qi, like an endless mountain piercing through the universe. Brilliant and invisible, it faintly shone when it suddenly slashed forward. Stars all over the sky began to explode and turn into ashes. They all turned into fine powder due to the aftermath of the Sword Qi.
“We will know whether I can kill you after we fight.” Sky Deer Goddess’ eyes fell on his face as she struck again.
Gu Changge couldn’t help but acknowledge that her Heaven-Subduing Technique was indeed mysterious as it used the universe as the power, the sun, the moon and the stars as its guide, and the golden book constructed by Grand Runes as its carrier.
*Swoosh!*
The sound made when the golden pages continued to flip shook the universe, and the golden aura was majestic and suffocating as if stars were hovering in it. Divine light enough to flood the sky then shot out.
*Clank!* And yet, Gu Changge continued to only raise his hand and slightly waved, shooting out one Sword Qi after another. His attack was simple and straightforward. The Sword Qi pierced through outer space, illuminating the deep and cold universe and cutting down the runes, turning them into ash. Even the golden pages quickly dimmed.
The two quickly used a few moves against each other, but neither of them really showed their strongest skills. Sky Deer Goddess was trying to test how strong Gu Changge was but to no avail.
Since she became a True Daoist countless years ago, she thought she had seen her fair share of geniuses, whether they came from the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains or the Upper Realm. However, she had never seen such an unbelievable genius like Gu Changge. He was only in his early twenties, and yet he was already in the First-Order Quasi-Nirvana Realm. He didn’t even falter from fighting with her, a veteran True Daoist.
[Not only that, he has not used any other artifacts such as the Immortal-Killing Gourd he got. If he is really only in the First-Order Quasi-Nirvana Realm, I would have hit and killed him with my palm a long time ago.]
“You are indeed strong. You are the strongest young prodigy I have ever seen. It wouldn’t be an over-exaggeration to say that you are one-of-a-kind,” Sky Deer Goddess sighed and chuckled. Her beauty was peerless and sacred, and it even made the sky appear pale. The sight of her was enough to stun any living being in this world and make their hearts leap out of their chests. However, Gu Changge’s expression remained unchanged.
“Since you think a great deal of me, Goddess, why not come under my command? After I take over the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains, I can make you the Domain Ruler who will control all its territories. Compared to living in Sky Deer City alone, you will have much, much more freedom. If you don’t want to, I happen to need a concubine. If you allow me to enter Sky Deer City, I promise you a spot behind me.” He smiled faintly and raised his hand to launch another attack.
*Hmmm* A golden spear dripping with a murderous aura flew towards the sky, seemingly able to penetrate the universe. It was condensed with Grand Runes and entangled with countless Principles as it attempted to pierce through her golden pages.
Her eyes were calm when she lightly shook her head. “People of different principles cannot get along together. Forget it, Gu Changge.”
The next moment, she raised her hand and shot out pieces of runes, and misty Chaos Qi with overflowing Imperial Prestige spread out. It was like a vast and endless universe submerging heaven and earth, dispelling Gu Changge’s technique. At the same time, the lingering prestige remained undiminished as it continued to charge ahead.
Only, her target was not Gu Changge; it was Ah Da who was holding Lu Luo. She wanted to force Ah Da to retreat so that she could save Lu Luo from him.
Seeing this, Ah Da suddenly looked alarmed. With his strength, he didn’t dare to face her attack head-on, and so he had to retreat. On the other hand, the Chaos Qi that Sky Deer Goddess shot out turned into a fair hand big enough to cover the sky before it slapped down on him. Ah Da, who had already been ordered by Gu Changge, naturally did not hesitate to let go of Lu Luo as he quickly retreated in the other direction. Sky Deer Goddess quickly rolled up her sleeves and pulled Lu Luo to her.
“Lu Luo…” Lin Wu and the others couldn’t help putting on surprised looks on their faces. They didn’t expect Sky Deer Goddess would successfully save Lu Luo.
However, as they hurried towards the women, Sky Deer Goddess suddenly cast a misty light before they reached them, dividing the space in front and sending everyone away.
In that instant, she and Gu Changge were the only ones left here, while Lin Wu and the others appeared a million kilometres away.
Gu Changge didn’t try to stop her when he saw this. Instead, a strange glint appeared in his eyes as he shook his head slightly and asked in a regretful voice, “Why bother, Goddess? You are sacrificing yourself to save them… I don’t think it is worth it.”
Sky Deer Goddess seemed to be a little relieved after doing this, and her eyes became calm again. “It is not a matter of whether it is worth it or not. Also, I can have peace of mind while I deal with you, now that I have sent them away.” As she spoke, there was a brilliant divine light between her brows, and her fairy-like body was surrounded by some kind of fragrance. This was the embodiment of her having the Great Dao in her body and carrying the will of heaven.
“Is that so? Peace of mind while you deal with me, hmm? This is exactly what I want,” He smilingly told her. The humour on his face quickly went away as he returned to looking indifferent.
The next moment, a dense grey fog surging like an abyss suddenly appeared behind him, as if it manifested from an unknown place. Time seemed to come to an end, and thunder and lightning turned into ashes. In an instant, the wide sky was covered, and the universe was suddenly swallowed by the fog.
Seeing this, Sky Deer Goddess seemed to think of something, and her initially peaceful expression changed.
