Upon hearing that, Gu Changge did not hesitate. The Spacetime Stone turned into a streak of light and shot straight into the River of Time with a deafening rumble.
The River of Time collapsed with an abrupt and terrifying cut to its flow. It was hard to see the other side of the river now. All that could be seen was the gushing of enormous waves that crashed down.
“It should be there.” Gu Changge confirmed the location and used the Spacetime Stone to mark it before its aura disappeared.
*Whoosh!* At the very next moment, Gu Changge stepped forward and turned into a streak of light before dashing into the River of Time.
The massive fluctuations flared up in a burst before disappearing immediately after.
The terrifying silhouette of the River of Time slowly dissipated until it was as if it had never appeared.
“The Divine Lord is able to traverse the River of Time from the present Upper Realm. His power has become even more unfathomable.” Once Gu Changge disappeared, Xiao Ruoyin shook her head gently. Her remark was fraught with complicated emotion.
After all this time, Gu Changge’s goals had not changed at all.
During the Forbidden Epoch, he was the Demon Lord. He was the conqueror of the world who attacked the Source Realm. And now, he was the Divine Lord who conquered the entire Upper Realm.
These were all part of his plan, and everything was proceeding as Gu Changge had intended. [The reorganisation of the Mountains and Oceans True World will surely attract the attention of the other True Worlds… I have enough time for my cultivation to reach that realm before the Great Purge. The other two Original True Ancestors would have most likely set things up the way I have.]
The Source Realm was high above all else. It was the birthplace of the Source of every universe and True World in existence.
As long as the Source Realm flourished, the countless destruction of True Worlds would not have any effect.
Meanwhile, the three Original True Ancestors were the origin of the Source Realm. They were truly Eternal and Everlasting. They stood at the pinnacle of existence beyond the imagination of all living beings.
Within the River of Time, blue ripples moved across the still surface. The vast river flowed quietly like a giant net that extended to every corner of the world. It was a timeless and eternal place covered in Chaos Mist. The moon high above the river was reflected in the water.
Every single wave represented an epoch. With each rise and collapse, the epoch changed. It was a cycle of decay and rebirth, destruction and reincarnation.
Gu Changge moved through the river. His entire body was covered in a fog that made it impossible for anyone to see his true visage.
As he moved through the River of Time, his past, present, and future were all shrouded in fog. He would now not be affected by karma.
This was a supreme power that was limitless and indescribable.
When looking out from this part of the River of Time, one could see a stretch of desolate darkness. Within the terrifying chasm, there were lands in complete chaos, the descent of lightning, the destruction of World Principles. Even the Great Dao was coming down like an executioner’s blade.
All kinds of terrifying auras and energies mingled together. It was enough to separate one’s Soul from one’s body, ending one’s life.
The Forbidden Epoch was after the chasm of darkness, and the Space Node indicated by the Spacetime Stone was precisely there.
Chaos hung thick in that universe. It was a space and time that was buried in history.
Even beings more powerful than Immortal Kings would not be able to find any Space Nodes here. It was as if all traces and auras had been removed.
It was akin to a drop of water in the ocean. All one could see was the ocean’s water. It was almost impossible to find the exact location.
*Splash!*
Massive waves surged and crashed against the dark horizon. An ancient boat of bronze that was covered in rust was currently making its way through the dark river.
Technically speaking, this was not just the River of Time anymore. It was a great ocean of darkness with no end in sight. There was no light either. Everything was shrouded in fog.
Chan Hongyi and Tao Yao were standing on the ancient bronze boat, doing their best to resist the chaotic energy, but they were deeply exhausted.
Everything from their Soul to their Qi was exhausted.
To traverse the River of Time, to return to the past, was a Heaven defying act.
Although they were protected by the Celestial Boat of Creation, they could sense that as they moved through this black ocean with seemingly no end, they had cut across tens of thousands of years.
They were on the verge of losing all sense of time.
Time was truly passing them by.
Their days were spent entirely on the search. It was a never-ending loop, and they did not rest at all.
“Perhaps we will truly lose our lives in this bleak past without ever finding our way,” Tao Yao commented with a chuckle.
There was still a glimmer of optimising in her. Only a glimmer. The peach blossom mark on her captivating face made her look even more bewitching.
However, she felt as if her body had aged tens of thousands of years. She felt heavy and sluggish.
This was the terror of being exiled into the void. One would be tormented by the weariness of endless search, always plagued by the feeling of being lost.
Even the most resilient of hearts would be worn down at some point.
“So what if we die here?”
“We’ve come this far. I won’t give up now.”
“Even if I fall here and cease to exist, I must find the reason,” Chan Hongyi said quietly. She was also resisting the effects of this place.
Alas, her efforts were like a grain of sand against the ocean. Many broken fragments of ancient universes and epochs swirled around them.
They were surrounded by an endless stretch of water. They did not know which era this was.
All of a sudden.
*Crack!*
A thunderous lightning bolt struck with blinding light. The territories hidden by the dark mist were in chaos. Dark light weaved through them, making it seem like they were being ripped apart.
As soon as the chaos began, the tumultuous waves of the ocean seemed to turn into a furious tsunami that towered high above to crash down on all of existence.
When confronted by such a terrifying situation, all living beings seemed as infinitesimal as ants.
The Celestial Boat of Creation kept rocking. It was as if it could not withstand the sudden burst of chaotic energy and was about to capsize.
“Why would there be a sudden change in the River of Time? Did someone on the other side of the river notice us journeying through it? Is that person intervening to set things straight? There is a disrupting in the flow here. Is that person trying to keep us exiled in this place for good?” Tao Yao frowned. The white sleeves of her robe flickered as she tried to calm the waves.
However, her actions were like the final straw that broke the last shred of tranquillity. Everything became even more chaotic as all kinds of fragments shot around and waves came crashing down, capsizing the ancient bronze boat.
Terrifying bolts of dark lightning pierced through large stretches of the universe. The River of Time stirred as Time Principles surged.
The place was like a scrap of paper that had been ripped apart.
Even Tao Yao could not stay on her feet. Her robe was incinerated as the onslaught of terrifying lightning came down. She coughed up blood.
“Maybe he noticed us…” Chan Hongyi spoke up quietly. She looked at the dark and broken ocean and saw fragments of ancient epochs among the swirling fragments. Every single fragment represented a bit of the past that had been recorded in time.
Tao Yao remained silent for a moment before saying, “Either way, it’s time to make a decision.”
“We’ve come this far. I’m not turning back.” Chan Hongyi was extremely decisive. She stepped onto the fragments, leaving the Celestial Boat of Creation and heading out. Lightning kept striking. It was as if she had been caged in by a sea of dark lightning.
She searched through the broken fragments of epochs to find a familiar aura.
“I guess we’ll just have to hope for the best,” Tao Yao said before following Chan Hongyi. Her silhouette shot into the chaotic darkness and soon disappeared from sight.
