Thinking about it, if Ms. Mary had gone to the waiting room as a winner, the commotion would have settled down, so now that she did win, I do not mind going back there. In that case, I would have to be in the same space as Ms. Mary and His Highness and the others, who are likely to win, which would be tiring. So, I was taking my sweet time returning.
As I was talking with Apricot, while drinking a drink with round, black starch in it. This was also popular in my previous life.
We eventually met Ms. Kriemhild, who was outside like us, and started chatting. In Ms. Kriemhild’s case, instead of coming outside because the waiting room was too noisy, she was getting lectured by the teacher, because when she tried to synthesize the next tool she was going to use. She had failed and caused an explosion.
And then,

“Ms. Kriemhild!”

Silva, who I had a bad experience with the other day, talked to us.
Even though his business was with Ms. Kriemhild and he was not really paying attention to me.
Remembering that black aura made me feel kind of scared.

“What’s wrong, Silva?”
“Don’t give me that nonchalant attitude. The first round is about to end but you never came back, so I got worried.”
“Oh, is that so? Thank you, I’ll be coming right away.”

However, the Silva in front of me right now just looked like a boy with an innocent smile. A boy that was completely unrelated to that black aura. The short stature of the two, together with their innocence, created a warm atmosphere around them as they were talking. However, I can’t let my guard down. I don’t know what letting my guard down would mean in this case though.

“By the way, you’re the person who won without using magic earlier, aren’t you—wait, have we met somewhere before?”

Looks like Silva does not remember that he met me before. Although it’s to be expected because we only met once and did not talk much. If anything, he seemed to have been more impressed that I won without using magic (other than support magic).
I don’t mind that, but since he’s definitely in love with Ms. Mary. Right now, I’m a bit conflicted about whether to reveal my status and the fact that I’m Lady Violet’s husband.
Judging from the reactions of His Highness and the others until now, if I reveal it, he might become hostile. However, if I hide it and the truth comes out later, it might become troublesome in other ways.
Now that everybody knows that we were invited, it wouldn’t make sense to act like I did not know about him even though he took part in the play, and there’s a chance that he’ll accuse me of ‘keeping quiet to spy on the enemy’…
I might be overthinking it, but I’m anxious after I saw that black aura the other day.

“Are you perhaps—“

Ah, looks like he remembered before I could introduce myself.
Either way, I have to be prepared for whatever he does–

“Ms. Apricot, a.k.a Siegfried fixer who wields the power of the darkness!?”

— Oops, I was wrong. He did not remember me. In fact, what’s with that nickname?

“Oh, do you know Apricot, Silva?”
“Yes, I’ve heard that she’s a girl who possesses the same cursed dark power as me, but she’s not controlled by her own mana and is instead able to manipulate it to the point of even being able to stay a dragon! The nickname she was given is ‘Dragon Slayer Siegfried’!”
“R-really?! Apricot has a nickname like that?!”

Silva, I think that’s probably self-proclaimed.
I’m sure she could defeat a wyvern, but she’s never defeated a dragon strong enough to be called an evil dragon. Also, Apricot does use darkness magic, but unlike Silva’s mana that actually has a curse mixed in it, it’s just normal darkness magic.
Now that I think about it, if Apricot was Siegfried, she would be married to Ms. Kriemhild, going by the names in the legend. Haha.

“Heh, I had no idea my nickname had spread so far. That’s right, my  -Mana- is Apricot! I am a mage who wields the power of darkness!”
“W-Wow! I was sure after I saw your magic earlier! You’re a mage who wields the power of darkness just like me!”

Magic from earlier… oh, he means that incomprehensible but amazing darkness magic, ‘Paraiso’. I don’t really get it, but it had some terrific visual effects for darkness magic. When paired with the previous spell, ‘Inferno’, it looked like a dragon was emerging from a swamp of darkness.

“But is it really true that Apricot is a dragon slayer, Silva!?”
“Yes, I heard it from Chartreuse so there’s no mistaking it!”
“Oh, then it’s probably something she came up with herself.”

After hearing who Silva got the information from, she quickly concluded that it was Apricot’s self-proclaimed nickname… It almost made me curious about what she thought of Chartreuse.

“Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Silva Seyfried!”
“Yeah, I remember you because you made it to the semi-finals in the first year division. After all, you were a mage who skillfully used the six basic attributes.”
“Oh, I’m not that special- wait, six basic attributes…?”
“Hm? At first glance, it looked like you only used darkness magic, but you were actually mixing darkness magic with all your attribute magic, right? In fact, that was the first time I saw somebody so good at boosting themselves with darkness magic. I’d like to learn from you as well.”
“Wow, you’re the real deal! Most people only recognize the darkness magic, but you saw through it with a single glance! You’re the first person to do so after Ms. Mary!”
“Ohh, you’re amazing that you were able to figure that out in a single watch, Apricot!”
“Heh, do not praise me too much.”

…I’ve been left behind.
If I remember correctly, because the power of the curse is infused into Silva’s mana itself, whatever magic he uses becomes darkness magic.
That’s why he is shunned as an outcast and is persecuted along with his Father, who is the only person who understood him.
After his Father’s death, he enrolled in Azalea Academy, thinking that he could find a way to control his powers here. As he looked for the way to get his powers under control, he was avoided and became depressed, but he was saved by Ms. Krie- Ms. Mary.
He successfully channeled the power of the curse into darkness magic and strengthened his other magic as well.  People around him realized they were mistaken about him being cursed, and he gradually became more cheerful as the story progressed.
Still, when I remember that black aura, I can’t help but wonder if he’s controlling his powers in a different way.

“— Oh, athlete Clo Heartfield!”
“Yes?”

As the three of them were getting excited in a conversation, somebody called me from behind.
I turned around to see a student wearing an armband with the word ‘staff member’ written on his left arm. I asked him what was going on, and he told me that the pairings for the one-on-one matches had been decided, but I was not in the waiting room, so he had come to find me and update me on the matchup.
I thanked him, told him I would give the papers to Apricot and the others, and took the three extra matchup sheets. The student staff member bowed and hurriedly left. It seems like he still had more work to do.

“Well then”

While I was silently thanking the staff member, the other three were still fussing, so I decided to look at the paper first to see the pairings.
My name is… Oh, there it is. So it’s the third match. My opponent is-

‘Second round, third match:
Clo Heartfield vs Mary Sue.’

“… Are you for real?”

I think it was unavoidable that those were the words that came out from my mouth when I saw this matchup.
This unexpected situation made me sigh quietly and hold my head in my hands, wondering what to do.

(“Fufu, I’m going up against him? Very well, he never really came back to the waiting room, so this is a good chance to— could it be that he predicted this matchup…? So there’s a chance that the reason why he didn’t come to the waiting room… was because he was sure ‘we would meet soon enough’… fufu, how amusing. I have to find out his true intentions…!”)
