In this chaotic place, a horde of Demons surged forward like an unstoppable wave, seeking to engulf everything in their path. Their actions were devoid of rationale, as they mindlessly attacked any creature that crossed their path, even their own kind. Frenzied killing machines like them knew neither pain nor fatigue.
Gu Changge stood calmly in the air, everything before him fell quiet. Even the fabric of time and space seemed to blur and fade away. The ferocious and violent Demons dissolved into nothingness, unable to get even half an inch closer to him. With each step he took, traces of Dao spread beneath his feet. Those who dared to approach him were crushed to dust by the sheer force of this energy fluctuation.
This place appeared to stretch on endlessly, its depths obscured by a swirling mist. An endless stream of Demons poured forth in a frenzied manner, shocking even the Immortal Kings from the City of No Return, who had ventured to this place with Gu Changge.
This land that once flourished alongside the Floating Nether Realm, was now terribly scarred. Its ground was marred by terrifying cracks, from which thick black mist and Demons gushed out. Further in the distance, the remains of massive creatures could be seen, with their bones piling up like a mountain range. Even the skull of one of these ancient beings could overpower all. Alas, they now rest as lifeless husks, sprawled across the land.
“When did this exist…?” The Immortal Kings from the City of No Return were extremely old. In fact, they had existed since the dawn of the Forbidden Era. Even so, none of them had heard of such a shocking location in the Azure Sea Realm. This place looked like the remnant of an epic war and the size of these corpses was truly astounding. If they were to drift among the stars, they could potentially fill an entire universe.
“Perhaps they are a fabled Race that perished during the First Great Purge and ended up here for some mysterious reason,” Elder Turtle commented grimly. As soon as he mentioned the Great Purge, the expressions of many Immortal Kings present changed, showing their fear and reluctance to delve further into the topic.
In contrast, King Luo, the Blood Owl Immortal King, and the others appeared perplexed. Having attained their Immortal King cultivation in later generations, they were unaware of the ancient history preceding the Forbidden Era, let alone experiencing it.
Cen Shuang was not bothered by the conversation, she remained fixated on Gu Changge’s figure, eager to find out his intentions. The Azure Sea Realm had long been overrun by Demons, leaving no other living creatures in sight. Even these corpses had been devoured, with only their toughest parts untouched. It was a place that no one dared to venture into, unless they had no other choice. With every passing moment spent in the Azure Sea Realm, one would feel their body being corroded and a certain aura seeping into their Soul.
The sensation was even more obvious for the Immortal Kings who had depleted most of their energy and were no longer at their peak condition. It felt as though countless strands of strange energies were trying to infiltrate them, vying for control of their physical bodies. They could even hear taunting jeers, overflowing with cold and malicious intent.
“This is indeed an ominous place…”
The Immortal Kings sighed, choosing not to proceed any further and stood on a weathered boulder. Cen Shuang was still eager to continue, but Grandma Medicine held her back, unwilling to let her take the risk.
“Even the Immortal Kings cannot guarantee their own safety beyond this point. It’s best you do not venture any further,” she advised while shaking her head.
“But…” Cen Shuang was feeling somewhat frustrated, being unable to witness what would happen or finding out Gu Changge’s intention. This villain from the past had suddenly appeared in the Floating Nether Realm without doing anything, and then ventured into the depths of the Demon-infested Azure Sea Realm. What could he be planning?
Elder Turtle looked at Cen Shuang and shook his head. “There’s nothing you can do by following him. Besides, if he really intends to destroy the Floating Nether Realm, he doesn’t have to go through so much trouble.”
From their perspective, Gu Changge had probably come here with another agenda. Otherwise, he would not have done all this. For now, all they could do was wait and see what was going to happen.
Even King Luo and the Blood Owl Immortal King dared not venture further into the area, lest they be consumed by the Demonic Energy that permeated the air.
*Rumble!!!* A great commotion erupted ahead of them. Even from afar, they could see the fog being blown away. The once dim area now appeared to be illuminated by a dazzling Immortal Light.
Gu Changge walked calmly. The fog under his feet dissipated, it quickly gathered again to form a path that led into the deepest part of the Azure Sea Realm. He had a hunch that something formidable was asleep in there.
The abundance of Eternal Overcast Fog here suggested that it probably served a purpose beyond raising an Eternal Overcast Army. Perhaps, it was being used to nourish a corpse to be used as a second body in the future.
In the vast ocean of True Worlds, many peerless supreme experts had set foot on the path of Transcendence. Whenever they found themselves unable to progress in the Nine Immortal Decays, they would choose to either sever their cultivation or dispose of two corpses of themselves as a backup plan. That way, even if their main body were to disintegrate and perish during the Tribulation, there was still a chance for them to make a comeback.
Amidst the vast expanse of Heaven, the Mountains and Oceans True World remained relatively obscure. At its peak, it was only slightly above average. As a result, it was not uncommon for some peerless individuals to exploit this world’s resources, leaving their body behind to absorb the Fortuity of this Realm and prepare for the eventual reunification of their multiple bodies.
While obtaining the Eternal Overcast Source was not a challenge for these peerless figures, the true difficulty lay in transforming such a world into a warm bed for nurturing their corpses.
“So, the corpses of the supreme experts who perished in the First Great Purge of the Mountains and Oceans True World have been relocated to this place, to provide nourishment for these Eternal Overcast creatures. They are using the Supreme Yin Energy here to nourish their bodies, while siphoning the Fortuity of this world.” Gu Changge had pretty much confirmed their plan. Too bad for them, their plan was now destined to become a gift for Gu Changge now that he had got it figured out.
The Azure Sea Realm was not huge, at most it could only be considered as a Small Universe. Due to the presence of the Eternal Overcast Fog here, the Principles and Heavenly Secrets of this Realm were in a state of disarray.
As Gu Changge continued forward, his silhouette became blurry and there seemed to be fragments of time swirling under his feet. In the blink of an eye, he arrived at the end of the Realm.
A blurry figure that looked like a terrifying shadow of a Demon stood ahead of him, but it was actually only a towering nameless tombstone emitting an endless stream of Eternal Overcast Fog. It just stood there, suppressing the entire Azure Sea Realm and keeping it in check.
The Demons lurking in this place were terrifying, even the Immortal Kings would have a hard time dealing with them. They lack intelligence, yet they trembled in the presence of that tombstone, not daring to approach it. Instead, they roared at Gu Changge.
Gu Changge’s eyes revealed a strange glint, sensing Fortuity gathering here for some unknown reason. Without hesitation, he stretched out his palm that caused the entire Azure Sea Realm to quake. All Demons cowered in instinctive fear.
Elder Turtle, along with the other Immortal Kings in the distance, were taken aback as their expressions changed drastically. The ground beneath them began to shake and they nearly lost their balance.
“What’s this…”
“Could it be that there’s a great battle happening in there?”
They were shocked but none dared to investigate it. They were only feeling a fraction of the energy fluctuation. If it really erupted, they could be severely injured.
“The Demonic Energy here is dissipating…” A peculiar phenomenon caught Cen Shuang’s attention. The dense fog that had previously enveloped the area was thinning at a visible speed. It was supposed to be spreading outward, but now appeared to be rolling backward.
With a loud bang, the tombstone shattered, revealing an altar. Towering like a small mountain, the ancient altar appeared to be used for rituals of some sort. Gu Changge paid no heed to its grandeur and strode forward, raising his right hand and pressed down on the altar.
Heaven and Earth shook as an invisible giant hand crushed the altar from above. Layer by layer, the altar crumbled under the immense pressure, starting with its platform. Amidst the deafening rumble, a massive palm print appeared on the ground!
The Azure Sea Realm was on the brink of destruction as a colossal hand materialized in the sky, mirroring Gu Changge’s movements and descending with a menacing force. Its power was unfathomable, capable of obliterating everything in its path. The towering tombstone that once stood tall was now reduced to rubble, along with the altar.
Gu Changge stood in the void, looking at his palm with his eyebrows slightly raised. At the centre of his palm print was… a shattered coffin! Its crimson hue was as vivid as blood and radiating an intense glow.
The Eternal Overcast Fog that once covered the sky now gravitated toward the coffin, as if it had finally found its home.
“Seems like I was right.” Gu Changge smiled.
At the moment of shattering, a hand unexpectedly emerged from within the coffin. It was eerily dry, and its black fingernails were thirty centimetres long. As the hand appeared, a powerful aura of death surged upward. With a determined push, the hand shattered the coffin completely, revealing an emaciated man dressed in Daoist Robes. Despite his middle-aged appearance, his hair was already grey and his eyes shone like that of a Phoenix, with a fiery light emanating from within.
A sinister aura emanated from his being, disrupting the Azure Sea Realm and creating endless energy fluctuations. The shocking aura tore through the Azure Sea Realm, spreading outward to the Immortal Domain.
The entire universe shook in response, and its Principles were destroyed.
Even the Immortal Kings were rendered as insignificant as an ant in the presence of such beings. One mere glance from them could obliterate an Immortal King a million times.
This being was undoubtedly in the Quasi-Immortal Emperor Realm. Although Gu Changge had yet to reach the Immortal Emperor Realm, he could see this being’s Soul glowing faintly with the light of the Immortal Emperor Realm. Given time, this being could transform into a true Immortal Emperor.
“You….” The figure in Daoist Robe seemed unable to fully process his current situation. His crimson eyes were fixed on Gu Changge.
The figure’s malevolent aura could intimidate even the bravest of all living creatures. His body was shrouded by a thick aura of death and Eternal Overcast Fog, making him resemble a peerless Corpse Emperor.
Once just a decapitated corpse with a glimmer of immortality, he had come to this Realm in search of good Fortuity, eagerly awaiting the day when he would ascend to be a true Immortal Emperor. His ambition knew no bounds, and he envisioned himself as the supreme ruler of this world, leading his Eternal Overcast Army to conquer all who stood in his way.
Alas, fate had other plans for him. Before he could realise his dream, he was rudely awakened from his slumber deep under the ground. The blood coffin that had sealed his essence was shattered, and the altar that had been his source of Fortuity was destroyed beyond repair.
“Who are you…?” The figure stared at Gu Changge, a sense of dread and hostility emanating from his cold eyes. His carefully laid plans were now in disarray due to his unexpected appearance. The intensity of his resentment toward Gu Changge was palpable. If not for Gu Changge’s mysterious background, he would have already attacked him.
“I am the Soul Realm’s…” He slowly continued, the unusual red glow in his eyes seemed to hold the power of the universe. The dense fog of the Azure Sea Realm swirled around him, revitalizing his once withered hands.
Before he could complete his sentence, Gu Changge appeared before him.
In one swift motion, he seized the Demonic middle-aged man’s neck with his right hand before the latter could even react. Gu Changge gave it a hard squeeze, eliciting a sharp crack that reverberated throughout the land.
“I don’t want to know your background. I’m not interested to find out who you are either.” Gu Changge said nonchalantly without beating around the bush, as he looked at the frightened and shocked expression of the man.
Terrifying True Flame reappeared, its tendrils cascaded down and fully enveloped its target. To Gu Changge, this was merely another Dao Fruit that had been nurtured for countless years.
