“Broken engagement, garbage, ruined Dantian…

“No matter, since yours truly inherited your body, I’ll avenge you. Those that shamed you shall all die!”

Chen Fan closed his eyes and inhaled. “This body is quite injured. If not for incarnating it, it would’ve died by now. But this won’t stop me. Eh?”

Chen Fan suddenly frowned.

Xu Hei was hiding above, keeping his breathing and heartbeat to a minimum.

He hadn’t the slightest clue what the youth was mumbling to himself. But then the youth felt being watched.

He stopped talking, and Xu Hei knew he was made!

[Crap, crap! He’s staring at me!]

Xu Hei’s eyes shrank and panic set in. The danger he felt from the youth was beyond anything he’d ever sensed. Even his scales stood on end.

“He must’ve realized the pigpen is missing two pigs and that I ate them!

“Crap, crap! He’s going to kill me!”

Xu Hei’s mind raced, feeling caught red-handed.

Many people starve on the streets these days, making the two pigs priceless. Chen Clan would go after him for sure.

Then there were the many livestock missing from the nearby households. [They’ll pin it on me for sure!]

[No, no, no!] Xu Hei felt his snake life had taken a dark turn. He could practically see himself being skinned and butchered, his remains dumped on the street.

Then, the most shocking thing happened.

The youth’s dying body began to heal! Threads of Spiritual Energy from the world entered his broken Dantian.

The Spiritual Energy gathered slowly and formed a dragon.

“Ha-ha, to think the demons’ ultimate treasure, Demon God Cauldron followed me in this life as well! You failed, Dragon Ancestor Taixu!”

The youth snickered to himself, never sparing Xu Hei a thought.

But the snake suffered a mental breakdown. [He’s using a magical art! He wants to kill me!]

Xu Hei was oblivious to the youth’s thoughts, making assumptions based on his increasingly terrifying aura that he was coming for his life!

Xu Hei’s eyes widened in terror, his gaze turning mad.

The strong ate the weak. [It’s either you or me!] He ate the youth’s pigs and now the youth was after his life!

[He’s charging his move to finish me off!]

[He is! He is!]

[You want to kill me? Not before I eat you first!]

Xu Hei’s crazed eyes showed no patience. He had no time to waste. He had to strike before the youth recovered and charged his attack.

The human noticed him, yet played the fool to make him let his guard down. But, in fact, the human wants his life. All cultivators were like this—cruel and devious!

The trick might fool other snake demons, but not Xu Hei!

Xu Hei coiled as much as possible. He lunged with lightning speed, like a sudden gale!

[Agh! You gave me no choice!]

Xu Hei’s mind snapped as he opened his maw and swallowed Chen Fan.

Chen Fan: “???”

In a flash, Chen Fan was now in Xu Hei’s belly.

He was still perplexed. His mighty immortal aura ought to have driven away this demon.

But he didn’t panic, merely huffing. “The tiny fresh Awareness Stage demon must’ve gone mad to target me!”

He noticed Xu Hei with divine sense since the start, but only spared the critter a mere glance.

He was a youth now but contained the power of an immortal. The thick scent of slaughter coming off him was enough to cower any lesser demons from even approaching him.

Yet for some baffling reason, this snake demon did the opposite.

No matter, even though his body only recovered to the 2nd layer of Qi Refining, his immortal arts would easily remove this nuisance a thousand times over.

“Eternal Flood!”

Chen Fan raised his hands, and power gushed like a tsunami.

Xu Hei ballooned on the spot, growing by the second.

Like a classic case of biting off more than he could chew, Xu Hei was now paying for it. Even though he had a flexible and soft body, it could only swell so much.

“Agh! I’m gonna die!” Xu Hei screamed.

He was too young to die!

He finally gained sentience after who knew how many reincarnations as a duck, goose, or fish to finally become Xu Hei. He still had his whole life ahead of him!

[Is this the cruelty of the human world, getting killed over two pigs?]

Regret gnawed his mind, that he should’ve stayed away from the pigpen.

This was his first time facing the horror that was humanity.

His demon core glowed faintly, holding his flesh together so he wouldn’t explode.

“Ha!”

Chen Fan spat True Qi, striking the demon core. Xu Hei’s solid core broke like glass.

Agony assaulted his body, almost rendering him unconscious. His mind was in a haze and his body was on the verge of dying.

A mere youth did him in with ease. Humans were more of a monster than he ever thought possible.

[The snake came just in time, just when I needed its flesh to replenish my strength.] Chen Fan thought.

Suddenly, a black cauldron came out of his mindscape and replaced the demon core as it spun.

“Eh?” Chen Fan started. [The demons’ ultimate treasure, the Demon God Cauldron!]

He reached for it but found with shock that his tie with it was severed.

The next moment, endless power exploded from the cauldron, protecting Xu Hei’s body and striking Chen Fan.

“How can this be? My Demon God Cauldron! Why are you helping this dumb beast?”

Chen Fan shrieked as his body broke apart. Even his soul was fading.

The sudden reversal took Chen Fan by surprise, giving him no chance to fight back. Demon God Cauldron’s attacks were beyond his power, destroying him to his last vestige.

“No! I refuse to die like this! I’m a great immortal! How could… Agh!”

In his last moments, he chose to self-destruct his soul with a mournful cry in hopes of taking Xu Hei down with him. But the Demon God Cauldron intervened, thwarting his effort.

Silence reigned. Xu Hei’s inflated body slowly shrank, just laying there like any other pile of mud in the pigpen. His scales shattered, his meridians broken, yet his breath lingering just above a whisper.

“My demon core… gone…” Xu Hei’s eyes went black.
