Sylvia and Edward arrived safely and quickly at the next town. Upon arrival, Edward felt deeply suspicious about it.

Sylvia’s mysterious magic, like [Security] and [Extermination], was beyond understanding, so Edward had decided to accept it as it was. However, what puzzled Edward the most was the speed at which Sylvia and the livestock moved.

While it made sense for Edward, a young man, and the four-legged livestock to move at such a pace, how could a young girl and the chickens keep up? Normally, they would have been exhausted and unable to walk after an hour.

Thinking it might be one of the mysterious spells he didn’t know about, Edward asked Sylvia.

Sylvia said it was the effect of [Dominant].

“What kind of magic is that?”

“<I am the leader – [Dominant]>.”

Sylvia said abruptly.

Edward nodded, though he was puzzled.

“That’s right. …I remember you said that when we first met.”

After he proposed to accompany her, she said that.

He had nodded, thinking it was just a child’s vanity.

“If you acknowledge me as the leader, you will listen to what I say.”

Edward gradually began to understand those words.

“…Is that the incantation for [Dominant]?”

Sylvia nodded.

Edward instantly realized that the magic affected not only Sylvia but also himself.

Edward’s face turned pale as he understood he had been under Sylvia’s control without even noticing.

With emotionless eyes, Sylvia looked at the pale Edward and said,

“If you acknowledge me as the leader, you won’t get tired for the leader. You will become stronger for the leader. I will become like that too.”

Hearing that, Edward realized that he wasn’t tired at all.

Walking to the next town shouldn’t be a big deal, but not feeling any fatigue or even slight muscle pains was unusual.

…But even with those advantages, being controlled by someone else was out of the question. Edward inwardly clicked his tongue at his own carelessness and muttered in a disgruntled manner.

“So, if the leader says ‘die,’ do I die?”

Sylvia blinked in surprise at Edward’s words.

Seeing her expression, Edward calmed down. Indeed, it was unlikely that a young girl would give such an order.

Still looking surprised, Sylvia replied,

“Even if the leader says something, it’s normal not to do unpleasant things. But you can hear the leader’s words no matter where you are.”

“Ah, so that’s the kind of magic it is.”

‘Listen to what I say’ was meant literally.

“Then, wouldn’t the livestock ignore you when you call them?”

Edward asked, and Sylvia blinked in surprise again.

“They don’t ignore me. They’re not that kind of kids.”

It seemed that Sylvia and the livestock had built a relationship of trust.

“Edward too, you won’t ignore me when I call you.”

Sylvia said, causing Edward to pause.

He thought about saying ‘No way’, but realized it would be uncool to argue with a child. So, he just patted Sylvia’s head in silence.

“Leader, huh.”

Edward muttered softly, then knelt before Sylvia.

He respectfully placed his hand on his right chest and bowed his head in greeting.

“Should I address you as Lady Sylvia Hughes, the leader?”

Sylvia stood there, utterly stunned.

Edward felt a sense of having outsmarted her and decided to tease her a bit.

He thought that if she got too carried away, he would leave her immediately and ignore her calls. As he raised his head, he saw Sylvia looking at him with wide eyes.

And then she said.

“Edward, you’re a genius.”

“That’s not an answer.”

Edward immediately retorted, then smiled wryly.

“So, it’s fine to continue as we have been?”

Sylvia nodded with wide eyes, and Edward patted her head and took her hand to get up.

Edward suddenly remembered his former superior, the third prince, whom he had once protected.

He recalled meeting the prince at around this age and realized that Sylvia had not been disowned but had only received a contract as a substitute for a dismissal notice.

Therefore, she was still a noble lady of the duke’s family, and he was a commoner. Even when he had been a noble, her status was higher than his.

He should have used honorifics from the moment he knew, but he had been so overwhelmed by the series of surprises that he ended up speaking to her as if she were a child.

Sylvia was surprised by Edward’s respectful greeting. She had never been spoken to so politely before; she had hardly ever had conversations to begin with.

Seeing Sylvia still in shock, Edward laughed and lifted her up, carrying her with one arm.
