To Gu Changge, the words Immortal and Mortal were not that important anymore.
There had never been a clear divide between the two anyway. The idea of Immortality has been present since the dawn of time. Be it if the person was raised in the mountains or not. Both Immortals and Mortals were just part of the domain of life. Even if one did reach the pinnacle of cultivation, it would still be hard to escape this domain.
In fact, it was the existence of Humans that led to the existence of the concept of Immortals and Mortals.
Gu Changge gained a lot of new insight. He had a vague feeling that he caught onto something. His hazy understanding of what it meant to be Human was slowly taking form and solidifying.
Time flew by, and soon, many years had passed. The trees surrounding Green Mountain Village changed colours over and over again. The children had grown up. Some were married and some even had children of their own now.
As the older villagers passed, new babies were born. It was like the leaves and grass that wither at the end of the season only to come back in the spring.
Meanwhile, Gu Changge and Su Qingge stayed the same. Time left no trace on them. After all, Su Qingge was a powerful cultivator. Her lifespan was something hard to calculate and these years were nothing more than a blink of an eye to her.
Even though Gu Changge looked like an ordinary Mortal, even the concept of time did not fully apply to him. He would naturally not truly die of old age.
That being said, he wanted to experience the cycle of life, illness, and old age, so he allowed his body to age.
However, this was only on the surface. If he wanted, everything would return to normal.
Time almost lost all meaning to him.
In the days Gu Changge spent in Green Mountain Village, he came to understand a lot of things. One could say he had truly experienced a new life and the stages of living.
During this time, Gu Changge and Su Qingge acted like a Mortal couple. Amidst the turbulent world, they quietly observed the passage of time with all aspects of living condensed into it.
For Gu Changge, this was basically filling in the original flaws and lacking of experiences. It was as if he had stepped away from his original self to observe another version of him from a different perspective.
It was sort of a new life, in a way, a type of reincarnation.
Nevertheless, there were far too many experiences in life. Gu Changge could not truly experience them all. One could already say he had experienced life itself.
If one described his initial self as the being who stood on the precipice of the Heavenly Dao and surveyed all of life beneath him, then now, it was as if he had become a Mortal and was experiencing mortality himself.
Naturally, he had merely embarked on a journey he had not walked before. He did not reach the end of that journey.
Immortals and Mortals could not be separated. They were both part of the Human journey.
Time was immaterial in the depths of the mountains. While Gu Changge was gone, much had changed in the Upper Realm. The ancient beings from the various Forces have emerged and took charge of the situation.
The might of the Upper Realm had been increased. Even the Immortal Kings from the Immortal Domain grew weary. Meanwhile, experts from the Other Domain started reaching out to the Immortal Domain to discuss how to deal with the upcoming upheaval.
The Immortal Kings who were standing guard on the edge of the Boundless Battlefield noticed the steady and thunderous approach of ancient battleships.
Many ancient universes rattled because of it, and the ripples that came forth were like a storm of Great Dao that made the entire world fall apart.
“Have those from the other True Worlds discovered this one?”
As massive waves surged, an elderly man in white stood on the embankment with a young woman beside him.
It was the elderly man in white who spoke. He was Ming, the Elderly being who left the Boundary Marker Sea. The young woman beside him was his disciple, Shen Xianer.
“Beings from the other True Worlds? Are they not the Hunters you spoke of, Master?” Taken aback, Shen Xianer could not resist asking.
Ming shook his head and frowned as he said, “Even after all these epochs, none of the beings from the other True Worlds have ever located the Mountains and Oceans True World. Yet, now, as the Hunters from the Boundless Fallen Ocean draw closer, traces of another True World start to appear… is it a mere coincidence, or did someone plan this?”
It was unsurprising that he had to consider this. After all, how many epochs had it been since the last Great War Against Heaven?
During that time, none of the other True Worlds discovered the location of Mountains and Oceans True World. There was no mention of ancient cultivators from the other True Worlds stepping into theirs. Yet, they were now appearing in this turbulent era.
Out in the Boundless Fallen Ocean, there were Hunters who wanted to capture Mountains and Oceans True World and sacrifice it to allow their own True World to further ascend.
Apart from them, there were now traces of another True World that was trying to approach Mountains and Oceans True World.
Ming could not help but link the two together.
It was hard for him to not suspect that someone was behind this.
After spending all her time with Ming, Shen Xianer had a fairly good understanding of the Mountains and Oceans True World. Therefore, she could not help but express her confusion as she asked, “Master, based on what you said, is it possible that during this time, the True Spirit who protected Mountains and Oceans True World did not disappear? Instead, the True Spirit had been secretly hiding Mountains and Oceans True World all along. It is just, in this era, something happened to that True Spirit. So, the True Spirit can no longer protect Mountains and Oceans True World…”
As soon as she voiced her guess, Ming’s expression changed. His brows knitted tightly.
“That is indeed possible…” he murmured.
His eyes glittered with golden light as if in an attempt to pierce through time and understand the present situation.
If this was indeed the case, everything could be linked together.
Could it be that the continuous revival of the ancient beings be something that the True Spirit had planned and set up ages ago?
“Something must’ve happened.” Ming’s expression grew serious. He did not seem pleased about figuring out the possibility that the True Spirit might not have died.
“I didn’t expect to find a True World in this territory! It looks like a new True World that had long since lost the protection of its True Spirit. Now, its aura is fully exposed to the Boundless Expanse. It seems like Lady Zhou You was right.”
Meanwhile, there was a cyan ancient battleship out there in the vast Boundless Expanse. It was cutting through the waves and charging towards Mountains and Oceans True World.
The massive ancient battleship seemed to bear all the stars in the sky as it moved. The cyan battleship was aged and weatherbeaten. It was made out of the ever rare Mother of Gold and covered in terrifying Principles and divine light.
Wisps of Chaos Qi intertwined and formed a fog that was heavy enough to crush all of eternity.
Hazy silhouettes dressed in armour stood atop the ancient battleship. They were all geared for a fight. Even their heads were covered, leaving only their eyes visible.
They spoke excitedly among themselves using an ancient secret language. They were excited about the discovery of a new place where life was born.
