Applied Immortality – Chapter 82, Ripple Power Is Sun Power!

The demons in the fighting zone were hostile to humans, and this place just happened to have four at the Qi Refining Realm. It was obvious by a mile what it intended.

Wang Qi’s gaze turned sinister. [You’re after me and my team? Ha!]

The deer demon and primate demon’s fight began.

The Thunder Clap Stag and Ghost Ape were natural enemies. The Stag King used everything in its first attack, its antlers flashing blue as he charged a lightning strike. The violent demonic power was almost too much for Wang Qi to hold on to. The stag lowered its head as it charged.

The primate demon shrieked in rage, its fists enveloped in a black mist as it jumped down to smash them on the stag.

Fists clashed with the antlers, and a boom echoed out. Wang Qi’s eyes went black for a moment. As his vision came back, he saw the two demons staggering back. The fists bounced off before they even touched the antlers, while the powerful lightning strike had no way of punching through the black mist.

The primate demon howled, punching all the time, as the Stag King groaned, deflecting the strikes with the arching currents from its body. The stag kept shifting around, wanting to get a perfect shot to use its antlers, but they were too big and cumbersome against the Ghost Ape’s agility.

The aftershock of every impact left Wang Qi deathly pale. He only got to control the Stag King thanks to his superior knowledge of electricity. When it came to muscle, though, he sorely lacked in that department.

The Thunder Clap Stag forgot about him, lowering its head as it took every chance to attack. The action left itself open instead, and the primate demon capitalized on it. The primate jumped high, landing its fist on the stag’s head.

Wang Qi was horrified, putting all his power into a palm out of reflex. In the wake of a golden glow, the primate demon held its palm as it fell back.

“Wha…” Wang Qi was baffled. He lacked the power to push it back, so what on earth happened?

The Stag King fixed its stance and resumed its fight with the Ghost Ape. Wang Qi’s mind was busy going through the motions of what just happened.

[What did I just do?]

Wang Qi closed his eyes and found the answer.

“Grand Ripple Enigma and Waveform Essence’s spiritual power reserves are the only ones dipping!”

Ghost Ape was apprehensive toward the little thing on the stag’s head. It no longer went for the head, attempting to attack from the sides. The Stag King shifted all the while to foil its plans.

The ensuing stalemate left Wang Qi restless. The Stag King was at early Accretion, far weaker than the mid Accretion Ghost Ape. The defeat of the stag meant he would be next to suffer. He asked Zhen Chanzi, “Old man, do you have any experience handling demons?”

Zhen Chanzi smiled dejectedly and said, “Plenty of it, but nothing you can use. You’re training in a different style from mine. Not to mention, I’ve never heard of such a situation before. It seemed that using pure yang spiritual power, you neutralized the primate demon’s yin demonic energy. You could start with that.”

[Pure yang?] Wang Qi frowned. In modern cultivation, elements and nature only described a mental art’s effect, not its core trait. Which was why a cultivation method’s description might not say it was of some particular element. Modern cultivation wasn’t split into yin, yang, or the elements, so of course he had no clue what the hell pure yang spiritual power was supposed to be.

“Using these two is the only choice. I’ll figure it out once I test them out.” With a plan in mind, Wang Qi focused the remnant ripples within into a wave. He saw his chance and shot it out of his hand towards the primate demon.

The primate was covered in a thin black mist. The unstoppable wave, so far, was now unable to pierce the blackness. But the intangible attack helped scare the primate. It jumped back once more, turning its attacks into probing attempts.

“Ha-ha, I lucked out this time. It’s the other one.” Wang Qi smiled bitterly. He had a problem handling Waveform Essence, and now he was supposed to attack with it?

[Speaking of, doesn’t the ancient system say Waveform Essence is a pure yang art? This’ll be good.]

Wang Qi recalled Waveform Essence’s relationship with other cultivation methods. Ripple Heavenly Lord inferred it from Creation Severer’s Grand Ripple Enigma. While the Grand Ripple Enigma that controlled matter waves originated from Wave-particle Duality. And Wave-particle Duality…

Came from Solar Flare and Heavenly Light Transmutation. It was a no-brainer these two were yang in nature.

[Is this the root of Waveform Essence’s yang nature?]

Before combining Solar Flare and Heavenly Light Transmutation, the cultivation methods’ levels were far below each other, which is why Wang Qi didn’t use them. This time, however, Solar Flare had a clear advantage.

“Since control over Waveform Essence is shoddy, I’ll just use the spiritual power relevant to it. I refuse to believe I can’t dish out some amount of Waveform Essence by using Grand Ripple Enigma and Solar Flare.”

Wang Qi tapped Stag King’s head with his heel. “Big guy, we gotta work together here. Cooperation, understand?”

A demon passing the Awareness Stage had the mind of a human infant. The Stag King didn’t register his words but felt his intent to ‘sue for peace.’ Wang Qi pointed at the Ghost Ape, “Let’s first finish that thing off. You got me?”

The Stag King groaned twice, still unclear of his meaning, but it saw Wang Qi attack the Ghost Ape and its animosity towards him lowered. Wang Qi’s goodwill made it steady its head, making sure he wasn’t thrown off.

“All I need right now is to get close and personal.” Wang Qi chuckled, having established contact with the deer demon. The primate demon was on guard as it watched the impromptu team after it took two of Wang Qi’s attacks, favoring throwing black mist from a distance. The Stag King had no trouble blocking them with a flare of his electric talent.

Ghost Ape’s patience finally ran its course, jumping high and diving down for the kill.

“Now!” Wang Qi shouted at the incoming demon. He made sure the stag noticed its gesture by adjusting its position. The Stag King had no clue what he was after, but it still used its antlers to block the Ghost Ape out of instinct.

The primate and the stag were in a stalemate, the Ghost Ape’s ghastly mug just a couple of feet from Wang Qi. He even smelled its foul stench from here.

Wang Qi showed a revolting smile. “Monkey, learn to brush more often.”

He reached out towards it, and Solar Flare gushed out of his palm in a brilliant golden wave.

“Ripple power is sun power! Die, you monkey!”
