Jiang Yang did not care about everyone’s reaction. To him, it was something that should be done. After all, he was the Mortal One, the man who stood at the summit of the Ancient Immortal Clans. Even if he hadn’t regained all his memories, his superiority and habit of dismissiveness were already deeply ingrained.

What right did a mere visitor from the Upper Realm have to be greeted by him? Innumerable mythical beasts, fearsome demons, and great leaders of different races and clans, all powerful enough to destroy the world, prostrate themselves before him,

In his opinion, Cultivators who descended from the Upper Realm most possibly sought him out to show their loyalty, trying to become a follower before he regained his power so they could take him back with them. With him at their side, they could enjoy the highest position of power.

He already knew what the Immortal wanted from a glance. What else could explain the being’s good treatment of his sister, whom he had left in Northern Mountain Village? They all just wanted to please him. Any intelligent person would know what they have to do when offered such benefits.

His Mortal Palace, which he had built many years ago, had an extremely high standing in the Upper Realm. By now, he had understood that many Immortals would have sensed his presence and thus came to seek him out.

“Jiang Yang, have you gone mad with all your cultivating? You better not let the Immortal hear you.”

“If it affects the Celestia Holy Land, you will have to deal with the consequences yourself.”

The Elders scolded him at once after hearing his words, with ugly looks on their faces. Jiang Yang’s words had frightened them. If the Immortal heard this, he would bring down an unexpected disaster on their heads.

Jiang Yang frowned at their words but still maintained his calm expression. They were no more than ants to him; naturally, he didn’t care for their ignorance and stupidity. “If I were you, I wouldn’t be foolish enough to say so. Ask him if he dares to make me wait.”

It was obvious from his confidence and boldness that he did not care about the Immortal. The Elders’ expressions changed as they stared at him in shock and suspicion. He was either insane or foolish enough to be so emboldened!

“Just do as he says,” Zhao Yi said, appearing before them. She chose to trust Jiang Yang, as the confidence he carried was persuasive enough. That was why she felt that his words had to be for a reason; besides, she was a little expectant of what would happen. From Jiang Yang’s reaction, he must have expected the Immortal to come to look for him.

“Yes, Supreme Elder.” Hearing her words, they did not say much but prepared to leave and report back to the Immortal. Their faces were pale with fear as they were supposed to call Jiang Yang over, yet now they had to tell the Immortal to go meet him instead. It was a simple request, yet none of them was brave enough to say that to the Immortal. The Elders looked unhappy at the situation; this was too hard for them! Hopefully, Jiang Yang’s words would work, or no one would save them from the Immortal’s wrath.

“You have great observation skills, though not so talented; it did take you this long to cultivate yourself up to the Sacred Noble Realm.” Jiang Yang eyed her, then continued, “You can be my Peacemaker. “

Zhao Yi’s expression froze at that. She had lived for more than a hundred thousand years and had been considered famous and godlike in the Sky Domain of the Heavenly Star Realm, outliving even the young prodigies of her generation. Yet, he had said she was not so talented. Also, what was a Peacemaker anyway?

However, his confidence made it hard for her to argue against him, and he was now much more mysterious and powerful than she thought.

Meanwhile, another voice started protesting angrily inside Jiang Yang’s mind. “I want to see Yao Yao. That Immortal is good to her; how can you treat him that way?”

Jiang Yang replied without emotion, “I will go see her soon, okay? It’s just that you are too gullible. Do you think he would do that if it wasn’t for me?”

To him, it was just a strategy to gain his favour. The Immortal was a smart one.

“It was Jiang Yang who said that. It has nothing to do with us!”

“Please don’t blame us for this.”

The Elders were pale with fear as they relayed Jiang Yang’s words to the Immortal. At those words, the Palace became so quiet one could hear a needle drop,

[We’re finished.] That was the first thought that came to the Elders’ minds. They quivered with fear as their faces became cold and pale. Right now, they felt like finding Jiang Yang to teach him a lesson.

[‘Ask him if he dares to make me wait.’] Jiang Yang’s words echoed in their minds, and even though he wasn’t present, they could already sense the arrogance and boldness in those words.

However, this was no ordinary person but a heavenly being with an infinitely powerful cultivation base, and he could destroy Ethereal Mystic Mountain easily. Would the Celestia Holy Land still exist if they infuriated him? Their Prime Ancestor might be the Sacred Emperor, but no one knew if it could hold its own against him.

“Did he really say that?” The Celestia Archbishop’s expression darkened with displeasure. He couldn’t believe he had held the man in high esteem, and now he wanted to go back in time to slap himself.

“The Supreme Elder was with him, and he had her permission to say so.” The Elders didn’t think twice before betraying her. To them, it was better to let her take the blame as well, as they didn’t want to face the Immortal’s wrath.

The Immortal now clearly wore a dark expression. The aura of fear seemed to thrum around them, and none of them could breathe properly.

“Dare to make him wait? How intriguing,” Gu Changge eventually said with interest, despite his calm demeanour. The Elders found it more difficult to breathe; their legs were weak to the point that they were almost prostrating themselves before him.

“Master, my brother—” Yao Yao was taken aback by her brother’s words as well and now looked sceptical. She was worried that Gu Changge would lose his temper. Besides, she hadn’t expected her brother to say that. Let her master go meet him? Jiang Yang had been down-to-earth and honest before everything happened. He would never have done this. Her brother had changed; he was unable to stay humble and was now egotistical and arrogant.

“How did he turn out this way?” Grandma Yin Hua sighed. She had been part of his family and felt disappointment and disbelief at how he had turned out. He had been a kind and honest man, but now he wouldn’t even come to meet the two of them.

“Don’t worry, I won’t get angry for your sake,” Gu Changge told Yao Yao gently. “Your brother is being too arrogant though.”

His words were direct and to the point, making everyone pale as they concealed miserable smiles. The Elders now felt like slapping Jiang Yang. Why was he being so pretentious? They thought he had gone crazy, but now their Supreme Elder had apparently jumped on the bandwagon. This might spell disaster for Celestia Holy Land.

“Sorry Master.” Yao Yao was touched by Gu Changge’s kindness. If not for her, anyone else would have been dead under his hand.

“All of this has nothing to do with you.” Gu Changge smiled. He wasn’t shocked by Jiang Yang’s actions. The man was currently going through the awakening of the Mortal One’s past memories, but could also be described as reincarnation via spirit possession. It was a strategy similar to that of the broken spirit he had met in the Enlightened King Realm. The Mortal One’s reincarnation must have had many memories awakened, or he wouldn’t have said it.

[Such a pretentious bastard. Doing this in front of me? How foolish.] Gu Changge smiled mockingly. He understood what the Mortal One’s reincarnation was thinking. Most that sought him out were usually from the Upper Realm, and he must have assumed that it was to acquire his favour while he was still cultivating. That way, they could become successful and strong through his power.

The Mortal One’s reincarnation wouldn’t have expected what he wanted, though. Gu Changge wanted to consume him, take up all of his Fortuity, and thus replace him.

“System, does the source of the Mortal One’s reincarnation’s Fortuity have any connection with the Fortuity of the Heavenly Star Realm?” Gu Changge asked his system silently.

<Yes, it does. They have become deeply entangled ever since the Mortal One’s reincarnation was reborn in this realm.>

At this answer, he began to understand the situation better. It was similar to his guess. The concept of Fortuity had always been hard to grasp, and the Fortuity of the Mortal One’s reincarnation was not only linked to the Heavenly Star Realm but also his own karma. Even Yao Yao and the religions of other living beings were connected to it. Since the Mortal One’s reincarnation’s memories hadn’t fully returned, the Fortuity involved in the religion part probably wouldn’t appear in him just yet.

It had always been Gu Changge’s plan to destroy the relationship between Jiang Yang and his family, but now he didn’t have to worry about it. Both their views regarding their relative had already changed, and they didn’t trust him now. What he was going to do now was to make Yao Yao believe that Jiang Yang was no longer the brother she once knew. It would be so easy to make them enemies.

[Well, this is his own doing.. You call yourself the Mortal One, but you are probably just another pretentious bastard.] Gu Changge didn’t think the Mortal One could do much as he hadn’t returned to the Upper Realm. He didn’t have to worry about anything, even if the Mortal One’s reincarnation used the Fortuity of the Heavenly Star Realm to fight him.

“Don’t worry, Immortal. I will take that arrogant man here and make him apologise to you.” The Celestia Archbishop immediately offered. He didn’t care that Jiang Yang was Yao Yao’s sister. The man had offended an Immortal; no one could save him. But if Gu Changge directed his anger toward Celestia Holy Land, innocents would get involved.

After speaking, he became a blur and transformed into a ray of light. He went to where Jiang Yang always cultivated with a dark look on his face while the other Elders followed. They would bring him there, even if they had to bind him.

Back in the palace, Gu Changge’s expression was calm as he sipped his tea. “Yao Yao, you should follow me back to the Upper Realm after this.”

“Okay, I’ll do it.” Yao Yao nodded. Her feelings regarding her brother had already faded, and it didn’t matter whether she met him or not. This final meeting was also to bid farewell to her brother, giving some closure to all her past yearnings.

Gu Changge nodded in return as the notification tone from his system sounded. <Yao Yao has become extremely disappointed in her brother. The fortuity of the Fortuitous One, Jiang Yang, has been damaged. You have received 8000 Fortuity and 40,000 Fatum.>

It seems he didn’t have to do much; Yao Yao was young, with a heart as clear as a mirror. He smirked internally, all the while keeping a calm demeanour.

Soon, Jiang Yang, stunned and disbelieving, was bound and brought to the palace by the Elders. Behind him was a furious-looking Celestial Archbishop and a shocked, sceptical-looking Zhao Yi.

“Immortal, Jiang Yang is here!” said the Elders respectfully, then looked at Jiang Yang as if he was a corpse. Their cultivation had already reached the Quasi-Sacred Realm, and Jiang Yang, at the level of the Transcendent Realm, could never win against them.

Since the Archbishop himself had already acted, Zhao Yi, who was the Supreme Elder, dared not speak. Her face was full of emotions, including surprise, confusion and puzzlement. Why hadn’t it turned out the way she had expected when Jiang Yang had been so confident? The mysterious Immortal had not come to meet him; instead, he had had the Elders bind Jiang Yang and take him here.

Her face burned with embarrassment, not just for herself but also for Jiang Yang. So, his entire demeanour had been an act?

<You humiliated the Fortuitous One, Jiang Yang. You received 1000 Fortuity and 5000 Fatum.> Once again, the notification sound from his system rang in his mind. He ignored it, though; anyone acting all high-and-mighty before him should prepare to be humiliated.

“Brother.” Yao Yao looked at the young man, expression complicated. He still looked physically like her brother, but his entire aura was already different. He was dressed in grand, finely-made robes and covered in priceless accessories, charms, and runes. It was obvious he was doing well here.

Now though, he didn’t look at her or their grandma but at her master. What did that mean? Her lips became pale, as this was a stranger before them, not the kind and humble brother she had known. She didn’t even notice how her brow briefly wrinkled before smoothing over.

Gu Changge, who had been observing her the entire time, noticed this and felt intrigued. However, he chose to look down at Jiang Yang instead. This was the first time he met the great Reincarnate Fortuitous One. No, it should be the high-and-mighty Reincarnate Fortuitous One. The youth still appeared calm, and Gu Changge would’ve been intimidated if he didn’t know the truth.

“You are Jiang Yang?” he asked, his neutral expression belying the questions swirling around his mind.

“I am,” Jiang Yang answered calmly. He was under scrutiny as a terrifying aura spread through the air, yet he didn’t seem to have sensed them as he studied Gu Changge.

The Immortal appeared mysterious, his face not clearly visible due to the mist around it. It was the same with his cultivation too. Someone who was able to break through the border might possess some kind of Border Breaking Artifact; or have cultivated to the Upper Sacred Lord Realm or the Sacred King Realm.

The way Jiang Yang studied Gu Changge made many curious as well. Was there anything else special about him since he was so bold?

[Hmph, what an arrogant boy. If not for his sister, I don’t think he will still be standing there unharmed,] the Celestial Archbishop snorted internally. They were all lucky that Gu Changge hadn’t punished Celestia Holy Land for this. However, he was worried that Jiang Yang would do something to disrespect the Immortal once again.

“Oh, do you remember Yao Yao?” Gu Changge asked, putting down his teacup and looking at Jiang Yang. “She came a long way to see you, yet you treated her like this. As the eldest sibling, don’t you think it’s wrong?”

Jiang Yang frowned and glanced at Yao Yao, who was standing beside the Immortal. He’d be honest: he had been shocked by the turn of events and hadn’t even anticipated that. The Immortal didn’t even know his identity, and he had been wrong about everything, which was embarrassing. If Gu Changge knew who he was, would the Immortal be brave enough to do that, or would he collapse in fear?

He felt uncomfortable about this as Gu Changge’s presence irritated him. Before this, everything had been within Jiang Yang’s control, and the Immortal’s visit made him lose that control.

“Yao Yao is my sister. Of course I remember that; how can I ever forget?” Jiang Yang said quietly. “As for my attitude, I think you should be the one doing self-reflection. I hate it when people talk to me haughtily the way you did, and you will regret what you’ve done today.”

Everyone went pale at his words. Even Zhao Yi, who had had a good impression of him and thought he looked mysterious, looked stricken. Was Jiang Yang mad and suicidal?

The room fell silent as no one dared speak, their faces pale with fear. Anyone who defended him probably had a death wish. Everyone expected Gu Changge to lose his temper, and even Yao Yao was too afraid to speak. Everything Jiang Yang said before had been arrogant postulating, but now this was a clear challenge. A clear challenge to Gu Changge!

“Oh, so you think I won’t hurt you just because you’re her brother?” Gu Changge did not get angry but looked at him dismissively as if he was an ant.

Jiang Yang frowned at that look, his gaze becoming colder. He was about to speak when Gu Changge interrupted him. “It’s fine; I’ll help Yao Yao teach you a lesson: you’ve bitten off more than you can chew with all your pretentiousness!”

His tone was full of pity and disappointment.

With a loud boom, his palm came down and the pretender before him seemed to explode with the force of it. The Palace was shrouded in a dark starry sky, and runes flashed in the air before descending neatly to the floor, making a shuddering noise. And then, an enormous palm print suddenly descended from the skies with the force of a thousand tonnes.

The crowd shivered with fear, and when their legs couldn’t take it anymore, they collapsed to the ground in a prostrating position.

“You!—” Jiang Yang’s expression finally slipped, and he intuitively tried to pull the Fortuity from the ground, using this to trigger the appearance of the Prime Ancestor’s ghostly figure and shield himself from this hit like before. But in the next moment, the palm had landed.

It came too fast for him to react, and he shook with the blow, collapsing to the ground and spitting blood onto the ground. Many of his bones were broken; if not for Gu Changge holding back, he would have been in pieces on the ground. He activated the Symbol of Reincarnation sublime, which increased Jiang Yang’s recovery. After all, if the Mortal One’s Reincarnation were to fall here, his plans would be ruined.

“As a young man, you should be more humble. Stop acting like something you aren’t.” Gu Changge shook his head with a brief sigh but did not continue his attack.

Jiang Yang became furious, his face as red as pork liver. He hadn’t anticipated Gu Changge to strike so quickly when he hadn’t even performed his counter-attack. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been humiliated like this.
