Upon those words, forget Jiang Chuchu, even Wang Zijin was taken aback.
“You…” Jiang Chuchu stared at Gu Changge with her widening eyes, as though she was still overwhelmed by thoughts. However, Gu Changge’s face remained unaffected, feigning not a trace of emotion. At that moment, any single person could sense his stone cold nature.
“What? You want me to repeat what I said?” Gu Changge gazed at Jiang Chuchu and leisurely continued, “Seek death all you want, but not in front of me. Do you really think I’m here to save you? Ridiculous. You’re still fantasising about nonsense even at this point? Do you need me to repeat what I said back then? Jiang Chuchu, you’re still as assumptive as ever. Do you actually think your death would affect me in any way?”
Gu Changge spoke with a condescending face and an overbearing tone, and he might as well have pointed at Jiang Chuchu’s nose and insult her for her assumptions.
“Gu Changge, you bastard…” Realising that, Jiang Chuchu angrily clenched her teeth as her body shivered while her hatred-filled face grew even colder.
Indeed, she thought Gu Changge was here to save her. From their past interactions, she figured that judging by his personality, he might have claimed to care not about her life, but when it actually came to her death, he would never ignore her.
Nonetheless, Gu Changge’s words now shattered the illusion she was under, and it was in a cruel, invasive way. Indeed, her death wouldn’t affect in any way, and in fact, there would be one less person that knew of his true identity, so he would be more than happy to have her dead.
“That I am. Are you finished? If you are, scram. Stop being such a prick in the eye. I’ve never encountered someone as idiotic as you. Born with a non-functional brain, what’s with that?” Gu Changge interrupted her, revealing an expression much colder than that of Jiang Chuchu.
“How dare you scold me…” Jiang Chuchu was stunned.
At that moment, her mind went blank. Despite her desire to reprimand Gu Changge, something stopped her from voicing her dissatisfaction. Yet, her heart was stormed with unbelievable despair. [What gives him the right to rebuke me? Is he not the cause of what I am today!?]
Nonetheless, losing the intention to entertain her, Gu Changge raised his head towards the Sky Abyss as black and white lights surged in his eyes. Under the might of the Power of Reincarnation, the grey, dense Yin Energy visibly waned as an ambiguous shadow slowly showed itself. Apart from the living beings stained by Yin Energy, only an alarming rift could be seen within, as if it was a wound of the sky, and that was the source of the leakage of Yin Energy from the Eternal Overcast.
As Gu Changge expected, the Sky Abyss was connected to Eternal Overcast, though only a part of it, which was hardly a fragment of Land of Eternal Overcast. His plan was to enter the Sky Abyss and find out whether he could absorb the tiny fragment of the Eternal Overcast.
Judging by the current situation, his only obstacle would be the endless Eternal Overcast creatures, including many beings in the Sacred Realm. Furthermore, thanks to Jiang Chuchu, fending off those in the Sacred Noble Realm engulfed in Yin Energy, which was unimaginably dense.
“What a realistic man you are, Brother Gu.” At that moment, Wang Zijin, who was silently observing their exchange, muttered to herself as she was surprised by Gu Changge’s words. Though, judging by the atmosphere, there must have been a secret past between Jiang Chuchu and Gu Changge. Otherwise, Jiang Chuchu wouldn’t have denied needing Gu Changge’s help.
Wang Zijin thought Gu Changge would try to calm Jiang Chuchu down with some tender comforting. But evidently, the man responded with an answer that left even her dumbfounded for a while before feeling deeply impressed towards him for maintaining his attitude. On the other hand, the universally praised exceptional damsel before him, whose beauty put shame to the wonders of the world, was brutally reprimanded by him. How unromantic!
If it were up to Wang Zijin, she would surely hold Jiang Chuchu tight in her arms and comfort her with tear-jerking nonsense. However, Gu Changge’s method proved effective as Jiang Chuchu was now composed.
Nonetheless, Wang Zijin was rather curious about what precisely happened between Jiang Chuchu and Gu Changge. Theoretically, they should only have met a couple of times, yet they seem too acquainted with each other. Either way, Wang Zijin was aware that an interrogation would lead to nowhere since those two in question would never tell her anything.
Suddenly, along with a beaconing light, a blinding sword-like beam appeared before them, resembling a heavenly mountain that pierced through the sky.
Under such repressing aura, even the largest Eternal Overcast creature melted away like snow under the sun. Before they could scream in agony, they were instantaneously disintegrated, turning into smoke that wafted away like the clouds.
Immediately, the terrifying creature that drew forth its giant palm shrieked, as its corrupted blood rained from the sky, containing frightening corrosion. Following a thump, space was corroded, leaving behind a terror-striking hole.
Such a sight was truly spine-chilling as any cultivator in the Sacred Realm would be too scared to approach, including the stupefied Wang Zijin and Jiang Chuchu.
With that, Gu Changge stepped towards the Sky Abyss, as vibrant lights that possessed thick Chaos Energy surrounded his body, making him bear the resemblance of a divine being.
In that instant, different immensely shocking anomalies occurred, including the True Dragon and the Celestial Phoenix appearing that could obliterate the entire world, turning it into dust. Simultaneously, an ambiguous, mysterious vast world appeared, containing heavenly trees, godly towers, and boundless lakes.
As Gu Changge walked, a golden path surged under his feet, harbouring immense Principles of the World as it expanded towards the rift high up in the sky.
*Whoosh!* Golden Dao Storehouse appeared behind him, conjuring a huge number of godly weapons, glowing brightly as if they could light up the universe. Be it swords, halberds, flails, or even mirrors and hourglasses, all of them, bearing unparalleled power, were shot towards the Eternal Overcast creatures in all directions. At once, a battle extremely more gruesome than the one Jiang Chuchu experienced erupted.
“Scram!” Gazing at the infinite number of Eternal Overcast creatures charging at him, Gu Changge shouted with an emotionless face as godly weapons above his head plummeted with terrorizing World Principles.
At that moment, ruthlessly massacring the Eternal Overcast creatures, he revealed a saviour-like expression, as if he was trying to stop the occurrence of Eternal Overcast for the sake of the world. None of his enemies was able to get close to him as they were instantly torn apart by his aura while they were still in the air.
“Gu Changge…” At his aggression, both Jiang Chuchu and Wang Zijin were rendered speechless as they were baffled.
Wang Zijin was obviously in shock and disbelief. [Were my assumptions wrong? Is he really here to stop the surging charge of the Eternal Overcast, and he carries the same goal as Jiang Chuchu?]
[D*mn it, what is he doing? Is he going to fend off the Eternal Overcast like Jiang Chuchu? There’s literally no end to it! Is he crazy? Does he really think he has the way to deal with the issue that has been troubling mankind since ancient times? That’s the same as suicide!]
Wang Zijin was dumbfounded as she was unable to understand Gu Changge’s actions. In her eyes, Gu Changge was definitely someone who only sought after his own benefits, so there was nowhere he would ever destroy anything that might benefit him.
Needless to say, the Eternal Overcast posed an unfathomable threat. For instance, her encounter in Eternal Overcast Battlefield earlier, which was merely the effect of a small amount of energy leaking from its depths. It was clear the danger of the Eternal Overcast was undoubtedly a thousand times more severe than that of the Eternal Overcast Battleground.
[By right, shouldn’t Brother Gu be hiding far away at such a moment, fearing the corrosion of Eternal Overcast’s Yin Energy like any other cultivator? Huh, it seems he’s different than I thought. He may not be the selfish man I imagined after all, as his will to save the world persisted.] Wang Zijin thought to herself as she subconsciously grew astounded by Gu Changge.
In that sense, Gu Changge was clearly far more superior than the rest of the younger generation. As a transmigrator, Wang Zijin couldn’t relate to his sense of justice, but her astonishment for him remained as even she couldn’t muster such courage.
“Brother Gu is no fool. Since he dares to do it, he must have cards up his sleeves…” Although Wang Zijin was worried about him, she was left with no choice but to wait things out.
Nonetheless, Jiang Chuchu, whose thoughts were contrary to that of Wang Zijin, was absolutely dazed. In her eyes, Gu Changge was an emotionless Demon Lord. He was nothing but a psychopathic evildoer. There was no way he would ever shoulder the responsibility of defending the world, and it was certainly impossible to have him stop the occurrence of Eternal Overcast. Yet, that was precisely what he was doing. He was walking towards the rift in the sky and intending to put an end to the forthcoming Eternal Overcast right in front of both Successors of the Mortal Palace.
“Why are you doing this, Gu Changge…” Jiang Chuchu was dazed, widening her eyes in dismay and confusion.
Eventually, she arrived at a possibility, one that touched her heart. The reason Gu Changge took on the Eternal Overcast creatures might be closely related to her, and he only rebuked her so heartlessly out of concern for her. Essentially, judging by his personality, he would never feign any emotions, so that was the only way he could express his anger and concern, and now, he was only trying to stop the coming of Eternal Overcast to help her, out of fear that she might lose her life if she were to stay here any longer.
Bearing such thoughts, Jiang Chuchu subconsciously bit her lips as the coldness on her face faded away. Despite Gu Changge’s ruthless criticisms, his actions were clear. He was simply a hard-mouthed man, who might be overbearing with his rebukes, but his heart was as warm as that of the next person.
As such, Jiang Chuchu was deeply perturbed as she intuitively recalled the moment when Gu Changge imprisoned her in his Inner World. Back then, his behaviour was the same, and due to her actions that disappointed him, his patience grew exhausted, which was why he would make irresponsible claims like not caring about her life and wanting to sever their ties.
“Gu Changge…” Jiang Chuchu helplessly muttered.
In that instant, her mind was completely overwhelmed. She resented him so strongly, praying that he would die right here, right now, and the world would be a much better place without a bane like him. Yet, for some reason, she couldn’t help but be worried for him.
[Jiang Chuchu, how could you, as the Successor of Mortal Palace, be affected by that accused Successor of Demonic Arts!? You are destined to be his sworn enemy!] Jiang Chuchu cussed at herself in her heart as she forced herself to calm down. However, countless years of cultivation and knowledge seemed to be futile.
She was flustered and bewildered.
…
As grey fog gushed out from the abyss in the sky, Gu Changge’s face grew fascinated. In that instant, he could already fathom the thoughts of the Successors of Mortal Palace. After all, his actions were purposeful. Be it Jiang Chuchu or Wang Zijin, none could ever fathom his true motive.
Since ancient times, cultivators’ instinct upon the surging of the Eternal Overcast was to flee as none dared to brave its terror. Forget the non-existent opportunity within Eternal Overcast, the level of danger it posed was on par with that of numerous forbidden areas collectively, and no one would ever come to this place unless they wished for death. Thus, no one could figure out Gu Changge’s plans as they would quickly assume that he was here to stop the coming of Eternal Overcast.
[Very well. Keep that in mind so I won’t have to waste my effort to set up another layer of deception.] Gu Changge revealed an uncanny grin.
Followingly, as he raised his hand, numberless godly weapons surged with terrifying aura and obliterated the Eternal Overcast creatures around him. As he advanced closer to the Sky Abyss, the creatures he encountered grew stronger, and having lost their Souls, all they desired now was slaughter and devastation.
As a matter of fact, the Yin Energy in the area was incomparably dense, and if those in the Quasi-Sacred Realm were to approach, they would surely be corroded, and an extended stay would result in atrocious outcomes.
Though, Gu Changge was hardly affected. At that moment, from his body, a black spiral that possessed whirling Grand Runes appeared. Within the spiral, an indescribable, unspeakable ancient divine being was sitting as sounds of the world, rituals, and chantings echoed. Any Yin Energy that got close to him was instantly absorbed by the spiral, unable to even touch him.
Nevertheless, the exponentially growing number of Eternal Overcast creatures left him rather irritated. Things could have been easier if Wang Zijin wasn’t nearby. After all, if he were to use his Forbidden Demonic Arts, he would reveal his demonic aura, which would surely draw her attention.
Thus, Gu Changge conjured an item. Emitting golden gleams, the item was grandly activated in an instant, resembling a symbol as massive as mountains and seas, though it was actually Gu Changge’s secret Celestial Seal, a true Sacred Emperor Grade Weapon. Given his current cultivation level, it would be impossible for him to utilise the full power of the Celestial Seal, but a trace of its might was more than enough to drive off the Eternal Overcast creatures around him.
Accordingly, the Eight Barren Demon Halberd appeared in his hands. While the Celestial Seal floating above him shot terrifying godly beams that resembled endlessly vast stars, he swung his weapon onto the Sacred Noble Realm creatures before him, who instantaneously exploded and failed to stop him from advancing.
Very soon, the boundless space filled with grey fog was thoroughly cleared out by him, after which he progressed towards the deepest spot, the source of Eternal Overcast Energy. Without taking much time, Gu Changge finally arrived at the deepest spot of the Sky Abyss, where grey fog was the thickest.
Since the creatures were wiped out by him, none of them could be seen any longer, leaving him suspiciously in peace.
“It seems this is the source. I’ll just have to engulf it and I shall gain control of this part of the Eternal Overcast,” Gu Changge whispered to himself.
All of a sudden, black and white lights entwined in his eyes as Power of Time surged, forming two omnipotent swords that violently rang and slashed forward. Instantly, the grey fog dispersed as though it was torn apart by a fearsome force. Visibly, a condensed, frightening black matter was flowing amid. The matter seemed to be sentient. As black as the night sky, it seemed to be able to engulf the boundaries of the world and everything in between.
If any cultivator were with him at such a moment, their skulls would definitely implode from the pressure, as the aura was already destructive enough without one having to be near it. Even the death of a Sacred King Realm expert, or the corpse of a Quasi-Nirvana Realm expert wouldn’t possess such an overbearing aura. In fact a trace of it could annihilate the world and exterminate all matter.
“It seems that this is the core within this region, which houses the rare Source of the Eternal Overcast. The gods must favour me to bless me with such a treasure. Wait, no. It’s all thanks to Wang Zijin that I’m able to locate this Source.” Gu Changge revealed a subtly enthralled look. In that instant, even the Celestial Seal let out a intimidated sensation as the divine being within sensed danger, fearing that it might be engulfed by the Eternal Overcast Source.
However, the Eight Barren Demon Halberd, on the other hand, remained unaffected.
“I wonder which one’s stronger? My Grand Flask, or this Eternal Overcast Source right here. Perhaps it may be an opportunity to further enhance my Grand Flask.”
Silavin: Just some background. Yin Energy is also synonymous with the energy of Death. So, That’s why he was comparing to the death of the experts. In some other novels, Yin energy can also turn people into zombies, which are basically the Eternal Overcast creatures. However, there is no explanation for all of this. So, just thought I’d share.

eternal overcast is all devouring sky right?
Love is blind, and Gu Changge makes his women fantasize to a level where I wonder how their minds could even conceive of such monumental bullshit, seriously. From this I realize the way love can be used as a weapon. Its pretty amazing.
Many thanks
Thanks
Many thanks
Then why not call it death energy or death qi? It seems to suit the sky that devours everything a bit more.
Thanks.
Yin and Yang are actually more fundamental than that. Yin may associate with demonic, with death, with Moon, with women, with cold, with water, while Yang being its opposite is the divine, the life, the Sun, men, warmth and flames. Death Qi would be of Yin persuasion, but not any Yin Qi is associated directly with death. Also considering his demonic proficiencies, underscoring that it’s Yin Qi might have been used to clarify how he could be so good at resisting it. Considering that up until now his major source of cultivation was absorbing power from corpses of more advanced masters.
Many thanks
