“Looks like Sky King Zhi Yang has ultimately given up after hunting me down for so long.” A woman in white appeared on a mountaintop, and she wore a hint of a smile on her stunning face. However, the smile was somewhat malicious. She was none other than Su Qingge.
That day, before leaving Vermilion Bird Empire, she expressed to Chu Hao her desire to visit her family. Once she left, she went directly to Black Tortoise Empire. There, she easily killed off a few young prodigies with unique physiques and obtained their Sources.
Furthermore, she held a different kind of goal towards Sky King Zhi Yang, and she had no intentions of letting him off scott free. However, given her current strength, she was still no match for him. Thus, after some pondering, she came up with a plan.
It was just that Sky King Zhi Yang had somehow seen through her plan. He seemed to have the ability to see through anything and everything, and was thus hunting her down.
However, as the Successor of Demonic Arts, she had various methods, and the other soul residing in her was not that simple either. Thus, she managed to cause quite a bit of damage to Sky King Zhi Yang using her various means. Not only were there many casualties amongst his followers, but he was also put in a difficult situation.
Sky King Zhi Yang was absolutely outraged, and never stopped hunting her down, causing her to even lure him into the Land of Eternal Overcast. However, even after pursuing her so far, he had never managed to capture her.
Rather, someone else happened which caught their attention. The thing everyone was talking about lately, how the Successor of Demonic Arts had schemed to slaughter many young prodigies after luring them. It reached both Su Qingge and Zhi Yang’s ears. For Su Qingge, she was completely flabbergasted. Meanwhile, for Zhi Yang, he felt it to be odd and gave up hunting her pretty quickly.
Su Qingge concluded that it was most likely the work of the Cult of Demonic Arts. She hadn’t asked Elder Mo too much about Ying Shuang precisely because she feared the Elder would suspect that she, the Successor of Demonic Arts, was far from being as powerful as they imagined.
“To think Young Master got injured, but why can’t I shake off the feeling that he had deliberately gotten injured to gain something… Oh, well, what’s important is that he’s okay. Given the current circumstances, it might even be advantageous for me,” said Su Qingge to her other soul. In a state of chaos, where the people were completely frightened because of the Successor of Demonic Arts, unable to trust their own allies, it was the perfect chance for her to strike.
Unfortunately, at her current level of strength, she still found it impossible to directly go up against any of the Ranked Disciples.
…
Meanwhile, in the magnificent and vast Sky Emperor Mountain, where the ancient and majestic mountain ranges had a sense of savageness and a plethora of picturesque buildings resided in its depths, looking as though it had existed since the beginning of time. There stood a palace shrouded in Mist of Chaos, with all sorts of frightening beings inside.
Even a Sacred Realm expert would find it suffocating. Their faces would turn pale as they would be beyond terrified. In fact, they would not be able to do anything but kneel in pain. After all, at this very moment, the Sacred Emperors Realm experts of Sky Emperor Mountain were all enraged.
Among them, many ancient beings had even arisen. They were beings who had achieved the Great Dao in the past, and their cultivation had reached an unfathomable level. They were no longer in the Sacred Emperor Realm. In fact, they were so powerful that the galaxies outside could easily change following their mood.
An ancient being that arose, who was part of Prince Shen’s direct lineage, roared in rage when he heard the news, which shattered stars trillions of kilometres away.
In actuality, the Elder guarding the Life Plagues within the Sky Emperor Mountain’s sanctum had already noticed it when Prince Shen’s Life Plaque shattered.
Prince Shen left soon after Prince Ying betrayed and was exiled from Sky Emperor Mountain. His status and Talents were no less than those of Prince Ying. Coupled with having a plethora of powerful means, he very quickly gained a massive following in Sky Emperor Mountain, along with the reputation which accompanied his strength.
In the minds of many, Prince Shen would very likely reign over Sky Emperor Mountain in the near future. He had great potential and was destined to become a character who would stand at the tip of the Upper Realm. But alas, he had fallen during a mere trial setup by the Immortal Academy.
This, to the many ancient beings of Sky Emperor Mountian, was a bolt from the blue, something unbelievable and only in nightmares. And most importantly, the one who killed Prince Shen was none other than the other Successor of Sky Emperor Mountain, Ying Shuang, the traitor.
The incident had caused an uproar in the Upper Realm with many factions having a good laugh.
Not only had Prince Ying stooped to becoming the Successor of Demonic Arts, he had even abandoned his former title and identity and killed a key figure of his Master Sect. The revelation made everyone in Sky Emperor Mountain livid yet helpless. They had nowhere to vent their anger.
After they found out Jin Chan had something to do with Prince Shen’s death, the Buddhist Mountain very naturally became a place many ancient beings of Sky Emperor Mountain vented their anger on.
“You bastard monk, I swear to fight you till death!” An incredibly horrifying scarlet being roared, and his Dharma Body leapt millions of kilometres away, towards Buddhist Mountain, wanting to seek justice.
The sky shook as various scarlet glows erupted, forming a grand path that pierced through the barriers of space and traversed the universe.
The means and treasures that Sky Emperor Shen left for his descendants weren’t as simple as just inheritance and Sacred Emperor Grade artifacts. There was a powerful force, an army, which had followed Sky Emperor Shen into various wars and battles. Every individual in this force possessed an unfathomable level of power. Now, this army had been revived, and were heading towards Buddhist Mountain to seek justice. Until justice was served, none of them would relent.
For a moment, many different factions diverted their attention here, thinking this was a show not to be missed.
While the Upper Realm was in a state of chaos, a few figures were conversing within a quaint tower in the Vermilion Bird Empire.
“To think that Successor of Demonic Arts failed to kill Gu Changge in the end…” Chu Hao slammed a teacup onto the table. If he hadn’t watched his strength, everything before his eyes would’ve probably long turned to dust. He was looking awful, clearly having also received the latest news.
As someone Chu Hao loathed the most, he naturally wished to see Gu Changge dead. But alas, he had been disappointed. The one who died at the hands of the Successor of Demonic Arts was another Ranked Disciple. Meanwhile, Gu Changge had only damaged his Source. In his opinion, that bit of injury was nothing.
“Don’t get upset, Hao’er. Why bother with a Junior like him?” A spirited, sage-like Elder with a long beard, sitting next to Chu Hao, smiled while putting his teacup down.
Sitting across from the two was Tang Wan, who said nothing in reply. She just thought the incident was peculiar, but how specifically? She hadn’t a clue. Of course, she, too, wished that Gu Changge could’ve died tragically in the incident as that way, her Slave Mark would’ve been resolved.
Chu Hao calmed down rather quickly from his anger and said with a wry smile, “You don’t know haaa…”
At the mention of Tang Wan, memories of the scene he witnessed when he hid in the void came to him. It made him outraged, and it became a nightmare that he couldn’t get rid of lately. Every time he wanted to enter retreat, he would feel agitated and couldn’t ease his mind. However, he still had yet to tell Tang Wan about it, so Tang Wan naturally didn’t know what he was actually talking about. She just simply thought he meant how Gu Changge coerced her family.
Meanwhile, because of the Slave Mark, Yang Wan couldn’t do anything to betray Gu Changge. So she could only advise Chu Hao to drop his hatred every now and then, to which the latter would agree at once. But still carried deep hatred of Gu Changge to his core.
“Relax, Hao’er. Gu Changge might have a terrifying background, but it doesn’t mean you won’t get your chance at revenge. When the world falls into chaos and you achieve the Great Dao, the others of this generation naturally will be incomparable to you. As talented as Gu Changge is, do you think he is comparable to you?” the Elder said with a smile. He was Bai Yang, Chu Hao’s Uncle Master from Supreme Cave Heaven. He was a mighty expert, having surpassed the Sacred Emperor Realm years ago.
After learning that Chu Hao had crossed Gu Changge, he immediately rushed over from Supreme Cave Heaven to support Chu Hao.
In their opinion, the actions of a young prodigy like Gu Changge were nothing more than child’s play. The ones who could truly impact the status of the Upper Realm were still the true experts. Those in the Sacred Emperor Realm and beyond of the various forces!
Just then, Tang Wan suddenly frowned, looking peculiar as a strange thought hit her. [Huh? Why do I suddenly feel a strange sense of familiarity?]
An image suddenly flashed across her mind. It seemingly belonged in the old days, but it was so blurry and fragmented that she couldn’t make out what it was at all.
“What’s wrong, Wan’er?” Chu Hao’s expression shifted as he asked concerningly, thinking she was unwell. However, Tang Wan didn’t answer him as she was in somewhat of a trance. She walked toward a window and looked down, seemingly searching for something.
The feeling just now came so suddenly that it caught her off guard. It felt as though someone she was super close with suddenly showed up next to her, reuniting after ages. But to her dismay, there were only people just passing by. Plus, she wasn’t sure who exactly she was looking for anyway.
“I’m fine.” She returned to her seat very quickly, then asked with hesitation after some thought, “Chu Hao, do you believe in reincarnation?”
Her question stumped Chu Hao for a moment. The question came so randomly that he didn’t know how to answer her. [Why would she suddenly ask that? Had she noticed something just now?]
“Of course, there’s reincarnation,” Bai Yang answered instead, smiling. “Reincarnation happens. One continues to go through the cycle until released and turning into nothingness. There are a few young prodigies born with the memory of their past life. This isn’t anything really surprising. I’m certain even Hao’er was someone of great importance in his past life. However, because of certain reasons, he has yet to successfully awaken his past memories. Then again, it is still rare, even in the vast Upper Realm, for someone to reawaken the memories of their past life.”
While Tang Wan nodded without fully grasping the concept, Chu Hao frowned, having a bad feeling. [Why would Tang Wan suddenly ask this?]
Meanwhile, a plain-looking, average-shaped man stood in an alley near the tower, mumbling excitedly with clenched fists, “That’s her! She’s the one! It must be Wan’er! It’s really as Junior Brother Zhi Yang said. She has also reincarnated into this era. Perfect! I can finally make up for what I owed her in our past life. The Heavens are kind to me!”
He was none other than Qin Wuya, the Eldest Senior Brother who had returned from Nine Realms, released by the Elder of the Immortal Academy from the Wondrous Stone.
It was through Sky King Zhi Yang that he learned Gu Xianer had never awoken the memories of her past life. Thus, he voluntarily went to get water from the Lake of Reincarnation.
The Lake of Reincarnation was a forbidden area for the living as it was perilous. Not even a Sacred Emperor Realm expert would dare set foot without caution as it concerned the true meaning of life and the mystery of reincarnation.
The water from the Lake of reincarnation could help a cultivator remember their past life. Though the legend sounded somewhat terrifying, it had also more or less proven its magic. Qin Wuya had done a great deal before he finally obtained a small bottle of lake water on his trip to the Lake of Reincarnation, and he had obtained it by exchanging an Artifact from the Nine Realms with the Lake of Reincarnation’s ruler.
Subsequently, he rushed back without ever stopping. After learning that his Junior Brother, Zhi Yang, was in the Black Tortoise Empire, he intended to meet up with him there. But never had he imagined that he would find a woman who looked identical to his Dao partner from his past life here. Not even serendipity could describe this discovery.
It was fate! It was as though something out there was looking after him!
[Wan’er probably has yet to awaken her past memories in this life. The lake water here should be enough for two. We’ll all be able to reunite once Wan’er and Dao Xian regain their memories] Qin Wuya grew increasingly excited as the thought crossed his mind, and he couldn’t stop himself from smiling as he imagined the possible future.
That said, he wasn’t going to show himself just yet but would only devise a plan after making sure who Wan’er was in this life. The way he saw it, it was because Sky King Zhi Yang’s methods were too hasty and rough that Gu Xianer felt him to be repulsive.
With that, Qin Wuya disappeared from the alley with a flash and rushed toward the Black Tortoise Empire.
He would have to first get to Sky King Zhi Yang and discuss this matter. It was only through his Junior Brother’s men that he would be able to learn this woman’s identity. However, at this point in time, he still had no idea that Sky King Zhi Yang had disappeared for days.
…
Meanwhile, in the far north of the Vermilion Bird Empire, where the mountain ranges were depleted, the Eternal Overcast Fog surged ceaselessly, wanting to flood everything, making the place look vast yet turbulent.
Chunks of Eternal Overcast creatures were currently ravaging below like tidal waves, incredibly violent. But right then, a crack could be seen emerging beyond the atmosphere, dropping balls after balls of Eternal Overcast Fog like there was a being breeding them.
A gorgeous woman was standing there with a Dao Sword in her hand, looking absolutely stunning and peerless. Her outfit fluttered in the breeze, like the goddess from the moon, dancing in the mortal realm, absolutely captivating. She was none other than Jiang Chuchu.
She raised her hand, and a massive ray of divine light, as pristine a moonlight, rained down. It was so powerful that a large stretch of Eternal Overcast creatures turned into ashes.
A Communication Rune was tied to her cuff, and in it, contained all that had happened in the outside world lately. Naturally, it included how Gu Changge got seriously injured from falling for the Successor of Demonic Art’s scheme. However, Jiang Chuchu didn’t believe a word of it.
[Gu Changge fell for the Successor of Demonic Art’s scheme? Isn’t that like thief telling another thief to stop stealing?] The way she saw it, this was merely a tactic Gu Chagge devised to frame someone else. His injuries were also all fake. She had lost count how many times Gu Changge had used this tactic. [Who knows how many people he has fooled?]
On the other hand, she had finally found the Source of the Eternal Overcast crisis and had also told Gu Changge of the news. As for whether he would come, it was entirely up to him. She couldn’t interfere with it.
At the end of the day, he was a genuine Demon. He had no obligation to shoulder righteousness or save the world, and those weren’t what Gu Changge should do either. But Jiang Chuchu still wished that he could come. Just like when he saved her from the Eternal Overcast crisis back then.
*Rumble!* The place suddenly exploded, and through the cracks, a terrifying Eternal Overcast creature with intelligence with a head of grey hair, showing to possess horrifying Sacred Lord Realm might, charged toward her.
Her gaze turned slightly cold as she brought her hands together to form hand seals. As an incredible force outpoured and a celestial beam surged, a Sacred Grade Weapon appeared and transformed into a ray of light.
Given her current ability, she could still fight a Sacred Lord Realm creature for a while by being a little more attentive. Alas, another roar came in a different direction seconds later, along with the aura of the Sacred Realm.
[Damn it! Why is there another one!?] Jiang Chuchu frowned in response. While musing, she decided to retreat first. She had already found where the Source of the crisis was. However, given her ability, she couldn’t handle it.
*Buzz!* Just then, a dazzling divine light traversed the sky and pierced the Sacred Lord Realm Eternal Overcast creature with ease, causing it to nearly explode.
A figure approached with a terrifying ripple.
“You can’t even deal with a Sacred Lord Realm Eternal Overcast creature. Some Successor of the Mortal Palace you are,” said Gu Changge with a hint of tease as he walked.
“Gu Changge… you’ve come!” Jiang Chuchu was somewhat surprised and happy to see him, so she didn’t mind his teasing.
She honestly didn’t expect Gu Changge to come, much less this fast.
Sure enough, Gu Changge didn’t really mean it when he said he couldn’t care less about her. But the next second, a thought hit her, and Jiang Chuchu turned grim while she snorted disdainfully, saying no more.
“You really are incompetent, Saintess Chuchu. You can’t even deal with something like this yourself and have to trouble a casualty like me,” Gu Changge said plainly as he looked up at the crack and got to her side.
“I didn’t say you have to come, did I? I was just giving you an update,” she retorted icily.
“So, are you intending to get yourself killed here if I don’t come?” he chuckled. “Do you really think I’m going to miss you?”
