*Whoosh!* As light whirled in the air, a space aberration occurred and a number of silhouettes were seen traveling through a path. They were none other than Gu Changge and the members of the Lin Family.
Seeing that, the nearby cultivators were surprised. Even though some of them couldn’t recognize Gu Changge, they were sharp enough to know that someone who was able to lead a group of Mighty-Transcendent Realm was nobody to mess with. Thus, they quickly fled.
At this sight, Gu Changge let out a snicker as his assumption was proved right—at such a time, no one would be foolish enough to challenge him. [Only protagonists get made fun of!]
In the domain, mountains stood and tranquil lakes glistened. It was a grand sight. Dense spiritual energy wafted in the air as if it about to condense into liquid. Though, to Gu Changge, who was used to living in the Beyond, spiritual energy of such density was nothing out of the ordinary, so he wasn’t at all bothered by it.
On the other hand, to the cultivators of the Overworld, the domain was an unbelievably resourceful place, and they could achieve certain accomplishments in one day that usually took months in their home world. They were in awe.
“Isn’t the domain just so wonderful!? No wonder everyone’s cutting in line to get in…”
“If the domain continues to open, I don’t mind training here. Sadly, it’s bound to deactivate one day…”
Behind Gu Changge, the Mighty-Transcendent Realm followers of the Lin Family expressed their astonishment. Sadly, they could only admire their surroundings. After all, the reason they followed Gu Changge all the way here was to help him reach his goal, so they were not allowed to wander on their own. Despite that, they were fully aware that if they were able to win Gu Changge’s heart in this domain, rewards more terrific than those in the domain would await them in the future.
“This mission is highly crucial to Prince Gu. If any of you cause a flaw in his plan, you’re not getting out of here alive,” Ming Lao said to his descendants with his eyes ever so stern. He, too, had suppressed his power level while he followed Gu Changge into the domain as he couldn’t help but worry about his master.
“Worry not, Prime Ancestor. We are all more than willing to sacrifice our lives if that is what it takes for Prince Gu to accomplish his goals.” Hearing their Prime Ancestor, the elders of the Lin Family expressed their minds, almost kneeling down to swear their allegiance.
In response, Ming Lao nodded his head in satisfaction.
[The domain has only been open for a few days. No matter how fast Ye Chen is, he’s at most at the border of the core area. I guess he’s already gotten his hands on the map, but that’s good. Treasure-seeking rat isn’t a title for just anyone, so I’ll allow him to sniff his way in for me.]
Naturally, Gu Changge paid no attention to the conversation of the Lin Family members as he revealed an indescribable grin thinking about Ye Chen. With that, he triangulated Ye Chen’s position with his senses. Apparently, Ye Chen wasn’t too far or too close apart—roughly miles away from Gu Changge.
Although Gu Changge couldn’t see Ye Chen’s every move, he could vaguely figure out what the latter was up to.
[Oh, Fortuitous One, you’re a hideous sight to see during training, but aren’t you a handsome lad when you lead me right to Destiny?] Gu Changge scoffed in his heart.
“Move.” Then, he instructed his followers and advanced toward the core area of the domain on an Arcane Bridge. Right now, they were only at the border of the domain.
…
Meanwhile, in a region where hindering fog wafted, mountains and ancient woods towered through the skies. There were innumerable ruins where palaces collapsed while their pillars fell to their dead leaf-filled surroundings.
*Thump!* Blood splashed everywhere as Ye Chen ripped a strange beast before him into two before he contently gazed at a plant beside a den. The plant was gleaming as though flames were burning alongside it.
“A Fiery Blossom of thirty thousand years. It may consolidate my fire element and level up my fire powers.” Muttering, Ye Chen picked the plant. He was satisfied. Having only entered the domain for a short while, he encountered countless treasures that could help him refine his strength. Thereupon, he was delighted as his confidence to beat Gu Changge grew firmer. But of course, the main reason for his joy was the fact that Ye Liuli had found him.
A few days ago, after the turmoil in Moonward Metropolis, Ye Chen had been looking for ways to deliver his message to Ye Liuli to tell her his whereabouts and to reassure her.
Although many cultivators knew that Ye Chen had offended Gu Changge and dared not to have any interaction with him, there were still quite a number that were willing to work with him as they were drawn to his captivating charm and sense of justice. Just like the saint of Karura Holy Land, justice flowed in their bloods and they decided to help Ye Chen forward his message. Therefore, Ye Liuli was able to find Ye Chen within a couple of days.
Ye Liuli brought numerous men alongside her. All of them were Godly Servants of Ancient Mystic Mountains whose power level was Mighty-Transcendent Realm.
As such, Ye Chen felt relief. Once Gu Changge entered the domain, he would surely bring him down given that he was fully prepared. The day Ye Chen had been awaiting had finally arrived—the day of Gu Changge’s funeral!
Nonetheless, what disturbed Ye Chen was Ye Liuli’s attitude. She was no longer as amiable as she used to be. She wouldn’t walk up to him and socialize, and she would even maintain a distance between them. However, Ye Chen wasn’t too troubled by it. Essentially, Ye Liuli, unlike the innocent girl she was, had grown up. Besides, there was now a difference between their positions, so having gone through some changes was understandable.
After storing the Fiery Blossom into his ring, Ye Chen stared at the outwardly beautiful young woman in purple whose face was as pale as snow and revealed a smile.
[She had grown up into such a glamorous young woman.]
Her unique aura shielded her as if she was the descendent of the Goddess of Beauty.
“Mind your perverted eyes! Lady Liuli is not someone you should peep at! Even the son of a slave has such unrealistic dreams, huh?”
All of a sudden, a piercing, angry sound entered his ears and left a frown on his face. Tensing his brows, he looked somewhat hideous.
[This damned granny and her condescending words again!]
Although Ye Chen was ridiculed a number of times during his journey into the domain, he eventually came back with humiliations of his own. Alas, the one speaking right now was Ye Liuli’s servant, so he couldn’t do anything to her and instead, he could only hold in his vexation and suppress his emotions.
Indubitably, the speaker was Ye Liuli’s servant, Xue Yi. After returning from the Lin Family Manor, she was rebuked by Ye Liuli. Nevertheless, having been taken care of by Xue Yi for more than a decade, Ye Liuli couldn’t blame her and she could only vent some of her frustrations toward her loyal servant.
Previously, when Ye Liuli came to look for Ye Chen, Xue Yi, too, had lowered her power level and entered the domain. She bore not the slightest adoration or respect for Ye Chen, thinking that he was the filthiest man there ever was.
[When they were simply kids, if I hadn’t been by Lady Liuli’s side and kept this filthy brat Ye Chen away from her whenever he tried to do something, he would have taken so much advantage of her! If it weren’t Lady Liuli’s fear of having no companion, I would have murdered him a thousand times over!]
Despite her thoughts, Xue Yi could feel her patience dwindling given how Ye Liuli was willing to go against Gu Changge for the puny Ye Chen and thought the young woman’s decision was incomparably ignorant. However, right now, she was in the eyes of Ye Liuli. Moreover, she lessened her power to Mighty-Transcendent Realm, so there was no way she could assassinate Ye Chen without Ye Liuli knowing.
“Don’t you dare underestimate me. Everyone who once did so is now way below me.” Flexing his brows, Ye Chen responded with a discourteous tone.
Xue Yi scoffed. “You? A soft ant that has hardly seen the world yet wants respect from everyone else? Go look into the mirror, why don’t you? Your lowly self isn’t even half of what Prince Gu is! Only a man like Prince Gu could match Lady Liuli. I bet Prince Gu let you off because you’re not even worth the effort to kill.” Undoubtedly, she was expressing her frustration. Little did she know, her words just caused Ye Chen’s detestation toward Gu Changge to grow tenfold.
“Shut it!” Upon those words, veins popped out in Ye Chen’s forehead. Clenching his fists, he roared his reply as his patience was exhausted.
[Only a man like Gu Changge can match the girl I like? What is she talking about? What does she get from disrupting my mind? And it’s Gu Changge again! Gu Changge this, Gu Changge that. Will they ever get sick of him!?]
Ye Chen’s eyes reddened as he gritted his teeth. [Gu Changge, I’ll fucking kill you!]
“Ignore her, Chen. What are you blabbering about, Xue Yi?”
Overhearing the conversation, Ye Liuli walked over to them with a scowl, obviously disconcerted. Although Ye Chen had undergone a lot of changes, in her eyes, he was still the ‘Chen’ she knew, and his changes were acceptable for her, but what was irksome was Xue Yi’s words.
“Lady Liuli, I’m simply speaking the truth. If it weren’t for this brat, Prince Gu wouldn’t have feigned such an ill attitude toward you, and—”
Before Xue Yi could finish, she was interjected by Ye Liuli, who was obviously disheartened with the tense glower on her face.
“Xue Yi, stop mentioning his name in front of me. I do not wish to hear the name of that hateful man.”
“Liuli, is there perhaps a prearranged marriage between you and Gu Changge?” At that moment, Ye Chen, who slightly calmed down, thought of something. He was made anxious by how Xue Yi would continuously, deliberately mention Gu Changge in front of him. At the end of the day, both Ye Liuli and Gu Changge came from terrifying backgrounds in the Beyond, so a prearranged marriage wasn’t out of the question. With that in mind, Ye Chen grew perturbed.
“What are you getting at? Why would I ever have any marriage planned with that hateful man? Even if there is one, I’ll surely have Father cancel it!” Dazed, Ye Liuli helplessly explained as she wondered why Ye Chen would have such an idea. She loathed Gu Changge to the bone as he was the man who thoroughly embarrassed her in public.
“Then why do you hate him so much? What actually happened in the Lin Family Manor?” Heaving a sigh of relief, Ye Chen proceeded to interrogate her. It certainly wasn’t easy to tilt a gentle young woman like Ye Liuli, but his resentment for Gu Changge had definitely intensified.
“Gu Changge came from a really old Family of Immortals in the Beyond, and is even the young master of the family. His background is even more formidable than mine, so Chen, please be wary when you go up against him… I don’t think I’ll be of any help to you…” Ye Liuli stated.
Hearing that, Ye Chen clenched his fists as he thought in his mind, [This domain shall be the grave of Gu Changge!]
At the same time, Yan Ji, who overheard the exchanges in the ring, was subconsciously interested. To be fair, she was enthralled in any matter that pertained to Gu Changge.
[Ah, so Prince Gu is the young master of a Family of Immortals, no wonder… But he surely has sufficient ways to protect himself, so I don’t have to worry about him.] She let out a sigh of relief, yet a dilemma remained in her heart. She could not decide who to assist once Ye Chen and Gu Changge were to go up against each other.
[Let’s hope it won’t come to this… I don’t think I’ll be able to make a choice…] Yan Ji sighed in disappointment.
Back when she was a Cursed Spirit at the brink of death, she was, fortunately, rescued by Gu Changge’s lifesaving Mind Convergence Pill. Given the importance of the pill, it was immeasurably priceless to her, and in no way would she ever forget what Gu Changge did for her.
Regardless, one thing remained a puzzle to her. She could not figure out why Gu Changge would let Ye Chen, who offended him so atrociously, off. Thus, she assumed that Ye Chen was simply lucky, or perhaps, Gu Changge only forgave him because he was trying to please Yan Ji and get her onto his side.
