The region was filled with vast Chaos Mist that cascaded down in wisps as it drifted and flowed around. Yet, the sky was dim and lifeless, like a land devoid of vitality.
A grand and immense palace complex stood towering in the depths of this region. It radiated great brilliance that even Heaven could see. Even if a True Immortal came to this place, they would feel as if their body would burst as they collapsed beneath the oppressive aura.
“The ancient and legendary Source World has opened its gate once again, and a reincarnated being has entered. He is now in the Western Immortal Domain. I am far from being his match so I fear that things could go awry. I hope that Senior could come forth and lead us in this battle to prevent this being from escaping.”
After arriving in this region, the Profound Earth Immortal King, adopting the posture of a Junior, spoke with a hint of humility and respect.
As an Immortal King of the Other Domain, he considered himself invincible. He sat at the pinnacle and looked down on all living beings with little regard. Millions of years passed like trickling water that could not even conjure up a ripple in his eyes. Yet, in the presence of the being within this palace complex, the Profound Earth Immortal King carried himself with extreme humility. He behaved with the propriety of a true Junior seeking help from a Senior.
Although they were both Immortal Kings, there was a vast difference in their cultivation and Dao Mastery. It was like a large chasm that could not be bridged.
This Senior was already an Immortal King when the Profound Earth Immortal King was still a lowly cultivator, governing all beings and overseeing the rise and fall of billions of Star Territories.
Many years had passed since then, and he too rose from the ranks of a lowly cultivator to an exalted Immortal King. Yet, in the presence of such a Senior, he remained humble and respectful, fully aware that the other party could kill him effortlessly.
This was the insurmountable gap that existed between them in terms of cultivation and Dao Mastery. It was like an uncrossable trench.
Naturally, in the vast and boundless Other Domain, there were many other Ancient Beings like the Senior before him, but they were too mysterious. Even as an Immortal King, it was difficult for him to determine their whereabouts or the places where they entered seclusion.
Those Ancient Beings had witnessed the drastic changes in True Worlds. Some had been around since the emergence of the Mountains and Oceans True World while others came from other True Worlds. They survived the Great Pruge and escaped to this world where they chose to distance themselves from others and remain in seclusion.
In any case, in this vast and boundless Other Domain, even the Profound Earth Immortal King dared not be too arrogant lest he provoked the ancient ones who had lived for countless epochs. Being an Immortal King was not the ultimate peak of cultivation. There were even higher realms above him that he was still a long way away from.
*Rumble* As the words of the Profound Earth Immortal King fell, the Chaos Mist-filled region boomed. The sky trembled and the surrounding Star Territories shook as if they were about to collapse. A terrifying breath echoed in the hearts and minds of all the cultivators and living beings in the vicinity, causing Heaven and Earth to shudder.
“Who dares to disturb me?” A voice filled with age and indifference resonated, echoing throughout the entire universe.
The Profound Earth Immortal King became even more respectful as he spoke, “This Junior, Profound Earth, greets Senior.”
The other Immortal Kings who came from different directions were also greatly astonished, but they quickly showed their respect. Even an Immortal King with black wings growing out of his back, who was incredibly proud and cold, restrained his aura and waited with reverence.
It was already challenging enough for the vast universe to accommodate the aura of a single Immortal King, and yet, there was no collision at this moment. Instead, it was surprisingly tranquil.
“Greetings, Senior.” The Immortal Kings understood the significance of this place. In front of this Senior, they were all Juniors who were greatly inferior in terms of cultivation and Dao Mastery.
While it was difficult to determine an outright winner in a showdown between Immortal Kings, it was a different case with these veteran Immortal Kings. They greatly surpassed the others in terms of Dao Mastery and understanding of the Source.
“The reemergence of the ancient and legendary Source World?”
A murmuring voice, ancient and hoarse, echoed in this place, and the dense mist dispersed, revealing a hunched figure dressed in a black robe. It was hard to see his face which was obscured by the mist. However, a terrifying aura spread over the surroundings, causing Dao to tremble. The environment could hardly bear such an aura.
“Yes, Senior King Ming, that is indeed the case. Millions of years ago, we laid siege to the Western Immortal Domain and attempted to find the entrance to that world, but we failed… Never did we expect that the gate would resurface now, producing in a burst of light that reached out in all directions, a Young King who seemed to be a reincarnated being appeared. But, I am no match for him.”
The Profound Earth Immortal King spoke respectfully as he briefly recounted the events, including the fact that his Dharma Body was annihilated by a single strike of the other’s sword-like beam.
At the time, he would have suffered considerable damage if he had not promptly withdrawn his divine sense.
“A Young King who emerged from the cycle of reincarnation?” The eyes of the elderly man who was addressed as King Ming blazed with piercing light that almost seemed capable of splitting the universe apart. His emotions stirred within him. He was unable to maintain his prior calmness.
“I never thought I would ever meet a reincarnated being in this lifetime. It could even be someone I once knew.” King Ming spoke slowly, and with a wave of his sleeves, the universe before him rumbled and ripped apart. He strode towards the Immortal Domain.
Upon hearing these words, the hearts of the Profound Earth Immortal King and the others were greatly affected too. They knew that this Senior had existed even before the Forbidden Epoch.
Four Immortal Kings, in total, followed closely behind.
They were the unquestioned overlords of the Other Domain. Each one of them ruled over countless universes with trillions under them. They had established themselves as royalty above all others.
In terms of status, they were the rulers of the Royal Families, and in the present era, their lifespans could be described as endless as they overlooked the changing epochs.
But today, they all set out together towards the Immortal Domain, tearing open a portal that transversed Great Universes.
This brought about a great commotion in the Other Domain. The major Forces sent out True Immortals to tag along as well and they all charged towards the Western Immortal Domain.
Meanwhile, back in the Western Immortal Domain, things had not settled down yet. Everyone from the Other Domain who came to the Heavenly Ancient City were shaking uncontrollably. They did not even dare to move.
After witnessing Gu Changge’s indifference and mercilessness, even the True Immortals felt chills in their hearts and did not dare to act recklessly.
On the other hand, many of the Immortal Domain were extremely excited. Seeing the fear and unease of those from the Other Domain gave them a great deal of satisfaction.
All this while, those from the Immortal Domain had to remain in hiding, living in fear that the experts from the Other Domain would find them. After the great battle millions of years ago, the Western Immortal Domain had basically fallen apart.
By now, even the Sacred Emperors had died out, let alone True Daoists and True Immortals.
Back then, a majority of the experts had fled to the other Immortal Domain regions, allowing the Western Immortal Domain to fall into ruins, occupied by the various Forces of the Other Domain.
There was a time when the Western Immortal Domain prospered as various Forces coexisted under the rule of the Immortal Kings. It was a thriving and lively place.
The calamity that befell millions of years ago destroyed the Western Immortal Domain and destroyed its peace. It reduced all those of the Immortal Domain to rats who had to flee into hiding.
Many of the ordinary citizens had to seek refuge in desolate mountains, just barely surviving.
“I wonder which Immortal King this powerful being used to be.”
“Even the Immortal King from the Other Domain was scared off, which means he possesses unfathomable strength.”
“The Source World is incredibly mysterious. Perhaps there are other powerful beings besides this one. If they all came forward, maybe they can drive away the invaders from the Other Domain.”
“If so, the Western Immortal Domain will soon be able to regain the peace and prosperity of yore.”
At this moment, many from the Immortal Domain could not stop themselves from imagining this possibility. They grew deeply emotional.
Listening to their discussions, Gu Changge’s expression remained extremely calm and unaffected. He simply quietly gazed at the sky. He could sense the massive fluctuations approaching from a distant region.
However, it was not coming from the Other Domain but from the other Immortal Domain regions instead.
“There should still be Immortal Kings in the other regions. They must’ve sensed the commotion here and wish to see what had happened.” The big red bird could not help but remark. Although it had only existed as the Artifact Spirit of Gu Xianer’s Heaven-Slashing Sword, that did not mean it knew nothing.
As the Heaven-Slashing Sword, it had beheaded countless Immortal Kings in the past.
Gu Changge nodded and a faint smile appeared as he said, “It’s quite amusing. They only dare to show up now. Even though they know that many of this region have been slaughtered by those from the Other Domain. They were too afraid to do anything. They chose to hide in their own cultivation grounds and territories. Yet, these are the Kings of the present Immortal Domain.”
He shook his head lightly with no intention of mocking them. He simply found it rather laughable.
This was the Immortal Domain that Gu Qingyi wanted to protect all this time.
But now, Gu Changge did not know where Gu Qingyi was.
As the True Spirit of the Mountains and Oceans True World, it could be said she witnessed the birth and growth of the many Forces and races in this world, including those from the Immortal Domains and the Other Domain. As the True Spirit of this world, her existence was akin to that of the Heavenly Dao. The only difference was that as a True Spirit, she possessed consciousness and could take the form of a living being to appear in this world.
The battles and wars between the Other Domain and the Immortal Domain were part of the Heavenly Dao’s destiny, just like the existence of Yin and Yang or emptiness and substance. They served as each other’s shackles to maintain a balance.
Nevertheless, as a True Spirit, Gu Qingyi showed a clear bias towards the Immortal Domain.
However, it was obvious that despite her favour and protection, the Immortal Domain did not change for the better. On the contrary, it was plagued with severe internal strife.
Why else would the Immortal Domain break up into five regions?
How could the Other Domain break through the Western Immortal Domain in a single conquest if these things had not occurred?
It was true that some of those from the Other Domain secretly colluded with the other True Worlds or had connections to the Source Realm. However, in just a few million years, the Immortal Domain had suffered such a great decline that it was now far inferior to the Upper Realm.
Gu Changge thought of the plan he and Gu Qingyi had discussed back then and could only shake his head to himself.
As the Demon Lord, he could stand against the whole Immortal Domain and single-handedly rescinded all the decisions he and Gu Qingyi made. This decision would not be made out of his own selfish motives.
It was better if this decaying Immortal Domain perished sooner rather than later. Perhaps new vitality would be born in its place. This way, there was a chance for one or two unexpected outcomes when the next Great War against Heaven erupted.
These unexpected variables could even be helpful to his plans.
