The startling sound that came from the edge of the universe was akin to a horn being blown. Along came the army that conquered worlds. With power as terrifying as a blazing sun, the massive army charged through the void, transcending time and space.
“Charge! Charge! Charge!”
Their bloodthirsty aura swept across the world, threatening to make mountains collapse and destroy everything in their path.
The haze of soldiers charged forth. All Star Territories in the vicinity trembled as they drowned under this aura.
“If those truly are the Souls of the Ancient Heroes, would our Ancestors be among them?” Everyone inside the Southern Immortal Domain was so stunned by the sight that they could barely speak. Some of them spoke up with trembling voices as their hearts tightened in fear.
“The Immortal Palace’s Eight Boundary Banner… is said to be Primordial Artifacts that emerged far too long ago. It was once in the hands of the Star Kings of the Immortal Palace, who used it to command the world. With it, no one dared to disobey their edicts.”
The Mysterious Ancient Immortal King, who was well-versed in ancient history, had gotten to his feet and was sharing what he knew with a grave expression.
Even though the banner was tattered, in just a flash, it was still able to unleash an indomitable might that seemed capable of overpowering everything.
The other Immortal Kings could not help but gasp as they stared intently in that direction.
“It’s that war banner, huh? It’s a shame it’s all tattered and in shambles now…” Ao Ling spoke up.
She was no longer smiling. All traces of nonchalance were gone.
Although the Proud Immortal King did not know the meaning behind Ao Ling’s words, he could tell that the origins of this banner were most likely not as simple as the Mysterious Ancient Immortal King made it out to be. After all, Ao Ling lived in the Primordial Mythical Era, which was numerous epochs earlier than the founding of the Immortal Palace.
The Quasi-Immortal King, Bai Chuan, could not hide his shock and joy. He did not think that something as major and unexpected as this would happen now.
He could not resist murmuring to himself, “Someone is making a move after all. I guess I won’t need to test the waters myself.”
Just as all the guests in Queen Luna Residence, including the Immortal Kings, were stunned by what they were seeing, another terrifying scene emerged on the edge of the universe.
An ancient song rang out from somewhere, and with it came sorrow and anguish.
The Dharma Bodies of the five Immortal Kings did not move. Instead, they stood there and blew on some kind of horn.
Somewhere out there, a gentle melody played enchantingly, though it seemed to be full of laments. It was as if a captivating woman was weeping softly as she mourned the past buried in history.
Deep within the universe, the pair of glowing eyes appeared. It was far too horrifying, looking like two bloody suns rising in the sky after having pierced through the past to arrive in the present.
The eyes looked down on the Southern Immortal Domain. Though the rest of the body did not appear, the light from the eyes alone made True Immortals quake. Just from the eyes alone, one could imagine just how massive and horrifying the creature was. It was as if the entire universe could not bear its True Body.
“What is that?” All the Immortal Kings inside Queen Luna Residence grew fearful as they stared at the pair of eyes. They felt as if the eyes could see right through them. All their secrets were exposed. They could not move. Even their blood seemed to have frozen.
Rumble
At that very moment, a terrifying sound burst forth from the depths of Queen Luna Residence where Celestial Mist encircled the Immortal Bamboo Forest.
The Star Territories in a hundred-million-kilometre radius all trembled in response.
Nearly all the Immortal Kings were deeply afraid. Their expressions hardened as they turned towards that direction. Apart from them, the others were shaking violently. They felt as if their bodies would explode. They could not even bear the shred of aura that emanated.
“Sir…” Queen Lunar who was standing high above also reacted. She quickly bowed and greeted him respectfully as Immortal Mist scattered.
Everyone saw a silhouette with his back towards them standing on the platform. He was tall and cloaked in a white robe that flickered around him.
“Is that the Forbidden Existence?”
The Mysterious Ancient Immortal King, the Proud Immortal King, the Withered Yin Immortal King and the others were all staring intently in that direction. At last, they could finally see him in person.
However, they were stunned in disbelief because the silhouette seemed extremely young. He was not the rumoured beast with three heads and six arms.
“It’s him…” Ao Ling, who was standing beside the Proud Immortal King, was also staring unblinkingly. She was no longer calm. She was clutching her sleeves tightly. It was her first time showing such emotion.
Gu Changge stood on the platform and looked at the massive army rushing towards the Southern Immortal Domain.
He simply raised a finger, glowing with utmost purity, as if it were sculpted to perfection from the world. An ancient light emitted from it and charged into the universe with a whoosh.
All the Immortal Kings felt shivers down their spines. They felt as if their Souls were about to get extinguished by that finger.
Rumble Never-ending light burst forth and the sky seemed on the verge of crumbling. The massive army summoned by the tattered banner scattered like the wind before the finger. They exploded into nothingness before even coming into contact with it.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. They disappeared from the void.
All the living beings in the Southern Immortal Domain trembled in terror. With such might, even the entire Southern Immortal Domain could be destroyed with the mere flick of a finger.
The younger generation who followed the Immortal Kings to Queen Luna Residence were also terror-stricken. They finally realised why their Ancestors had been so fearful and uneasy to the point where they sought ways to relocate the Families in the hopes of allowing some of their bloodline to survive.
In the face of such world-ending power, it did not matter if one were a True Immortal or an ordinary living being. They were all fodder who could not even withstand a finger.
The Mysterious Ancient Immortal King’s voice trembled in fear as he said, “It is said that he is capable of destroying all 3,000 worlds with just the palm of his hand. The entire Immortal Domain crumbled apart because of him. From the looks of it now, it is not just a rumour…”
The other Immortal Kings were just as terrified. They could tell that they would not be able to withstand the force of this finger. Even if they managed to survive, they would be gravely injured.
And this was only a mere flick of Gu Changge’s finger. If he truly wanted to destroy the entire Immortal Domain, it would undoubtedly be an easy task for him despite not yet recovering the strength he had at his peak.
“What’s the use of hiding? Do you really think you can hide from me?” Gu Changge remarked indifferently. He did not move. He simply stood on the platform and looked towards the edge of the universe.
The five Immortal Kings stood there with cold gazes as they joined forces to use the tattered banner and call upon the Ancient Heroes once more.
Out there in the hazy void, ashes seemed to fall from the sky as the silhouettes that disappeared solidified once more. Their bodies, mounts, armour, and weapons all emerged once more as if they could never be destroyed.
Though ordinary cultivators would be overwhelmed by the massive army, it could do nothing to Gu Changge. It could not even get near him.
With a flick of his sleeve, a series of frightening sounds rang out. It was as if an ancient Immortal was sitting there reading Dao scriptures of reincarnation to the crowd.
The charging army was swept up by the sounds and swiftly turned back into ashes as if they were being cleansed.
