Gu Changge’s tone was light and nonchalant, but his words fell like a bolt of lightning, exploding in the ears of all beings in the vicinity. Their expressions changed dramatically.
“We will all be offered up as sacrifice?”
His words echoed in their heads, leaving them terrified to the core. They did not know about this. They never knew something like that could happen.
Some of the veteran Immortal Kings knew a little about the Sea of Boundless Expanse from the ancient records. They all fell silent as well.
Everything in existence would be sacrificed…
“Does this mean we have less than a hundred years left?” One of the Immortals asked gravely.
They attended this banquet thinking that it would be their last meal and were mentally prepared to spend their final moments here. Never would they have expected to hear this news instead.
It seemed as if Gu Changge specifically wanted to inform them about this.
“Less than a hundred years?” The veteran Immortal King who shared what he knew earlier had a sombre expression. He had read records regarding the Sea of Boundless Expanse.
He knew there were countless living beings in worlds far beyond this one, and that the Immortal Domain was simply a grain of sand in the ocean.
The Huntsmen or Hunters spent all their days crossing the endless space to find new targets in the Sea of Boundless Expanse, hoping to prolong the existence of their own True World.
Naturally, the term Hunters was a broad one. The l beings who traversed the Sea of Boundless Expanse came from mysterious backgrounds. Not all of them did it to extend the existence of their True World. They could have other intentions too.
If Mountains and Oceans True World continued to exist, at some point, perhaps Hunters of their own would emerge from their ranks. They too would head into the Sea of Boundless Expanse to find ways to extend the existence of the Mountains and Oceans True World.
No matter how ancient and powerful a True World was, it would still fall into decline someday. It could not truly survive forever.
Some True Worlds were already in a state of extreme fragility due to their age. Even if one entered the cycle of reincarnation, when the world fell apart, everything would returning to chaos and cease to exist.
Therefore, the Absolute Beings of such worlds would find all sorts of ways to prolong the existence of their True Worlds.
If the cycle of reincarnation collapses and the world they lived in withered up, all of their Family members and descendants would die. Was there any point in surviving alone with nothing but their cultivation to accompany them?
Many of such beings travelling through the Sea of Boundless Expanse did so with the hope of reviving their Families through reincarnation, thus persisting in their attempts.
If they sensed the aura of a True World within the Sea of Boundless Expanse, they would be thrown into a frenzy and come rushing over without hesitation.
Beings like them would have roamed the Sea of Boundless Expanse for countless epochs. They would have already attained such high levels of cultivation that no one in this world could defeat them. In their eyes, True Worlds were nothing more than other worlds for them to exploit.
Even for Immortal Kings, the journey through the Sea of Boundless Expanse was extremely perilous. They would not be able to get very far. An Immortal King was defenceless against the Hunters from the Sea of Boundless Expanse.
“This means we don’t have much time left. A major upheaval is coming in less than a hundred years.”
At last, the Immortal Kings understood what Gu Changge meant. Their hearts were filled with a sense of foreboding.
They thought once they became Immortal Kings, they would be able to avoid the Five Decays of Immortality and truly live on forever.
However, now that they were Immortal Kings and revered by all others, they finally realised that there were many more terrifying things in this world. They simply did not know about it yet.
Be it Gu Changge, the one who once wiped out a whole epoch and destroyed the Immortal Palace, or the Hunters who were about to come, these were all beings they could not hold a candle to.
Beings like Gu Changge and the Hunters belonged to a realm so far superior to theirs that they could not even begin to imagine how powerful such beings were.
“If all of you in the Immortal Domain wish to avoid this calamity, the only way is to reshape the Mountains and Oceans True World before a hundred years pass. The Upper Realm, the Other Domain, and the Immortal Domain were all united once. They had simply been separated for countless epochs. Now that a great calamity is upon us, it is time for the Mountains and Oceans True World to merge once more.”
Gu Changge smiled faintly as his eyes swept over the Immortal Kings before him.
In their heads, his words echoed like a ringing bell. They were stunned.
“Please reunite Mountains and Oceans True World and help us find a way to overcome this, sir.”
The first to react was the Blood Owl Immortal King who beseeched respectfully.
At a time like this, it did not matter if Gu Changge’s words came as a shock or if he simply wanted a reasonable excuse to assume command over the Immortal Domain. The Immortal Kings had to make a choice. The Blood Owl Immortal King had already made his stance clear previously, so after hearing this now, he was the first to respond.
The Withered Yin Immortal King, the Crimson Immortal King, and the Brilliant Collector Immortal King of the Northern Immortal Domain also did likewise and said respectfully, “The Immortal Domain will be besieged by a great calamity within a hundred years. We are powerless to defend ourselves. We hope that you will unite Mountains and Oceans True World and protect us all, sir.”
If Mountains and Oceans True World were to unite as one, a mighty Force would surely be formed, and those who did not align themselves with the ones in power would surely be wiped out.
The Immortal Kings were powerful, but they were far from being able to be completely unbridled by Karma. They had not transcended the Three Realms and Six Desires, the worldliness of existence, and the passage of time.
Although the Immortal Kings from the Central Immortal Domain were the last to arrive, from the looks of it now, Gu Changge would not be allowing them to leave in peace if they did not make a choice. Furthermore, they had not been cleared of suspicion yet.
This could be their chance to pledge their loyalty and allegiance.
Even King Luo did not hesitate for long. Like the others before him, he also expressed his willingness to submit to Gu Changge.
“Once Mountains and Oceans True World is reshaped and reunited as one, it might reach an even higher peak, and that could be considered an opportunity for you all as well.” Gu Changge raised his cup of wine and remarked with a distant gaze, “It simply remains to be seen whether you live long enough to make the most of it.”
He was not trying to scare them. In reality, the situation in the Immortal Domain was rather chaotic right now. Though all seemed calm on the surface, the undercurrent was surging fiercely.
The Immortal Kings seemed like transcended beings who could look down on all of existence. However, to the ones who had not truly gotten involved in the situation yet, Immortal Kings were no different from ants.
Gu Changge made a personal appearance in the Southern Immortal Domain partly because he wanted the ones in the shadow to join in the fray.
However, to his surprise, they were able to remain patient and stay out of it.
Even the descendants of the Immortal Palace had been able to rein in the resentment they felt and retreat despite seeing their greatest enemy right before their very eyes.
A hundred years sounded like a long time, but for those who had become Immortal, it was nothing more than a snap of their fingers.
In other words, to them, those from the Sea of Boundless Expanse would be arriving on the shores of Mountains and Oceans True World at any moment now.
If the ones hiding in the shadows did not emerge before then to stop the invasion, it meant that the Immortal Domain would face a world-ending calamity and cease to exist.
On the other hand, the Other Domain had their everlasting Immortal Emperor Ancestors to protect them. They had the power to hold off those beings from the Sea of Boundless Expanse momentarily.
A journey that spanned countless epochs would undoubtedly be draining, and the Hunters would not be at their peak forever.
However, was the danger from the Sea of Boundless Expanse the only calamity in store for Mountains and Oceans True World?
Gu Changge did not think so. When the location of Mountains and Oceans True World got exposed, the neighbouring True Worlds would also have had made their moves too.
Apart from that, the Source Realm would soon be beginning another round of harvesting too. How many worlds and universes in this vast True World could escape the Great Purge this time?
The banquet did not last for much longer. The Immortal Kings were in turmoil over what Gu Changge had said to them. They figured that someone like Gu Changge who was so far superior to them would have surely seen visions of the future. That had to be why he said such words.
They did not know how much longer they could survive, or if this mean that even Immortal Kings were fodder in the upcoming upheaval of the Immortal Domain?
The Immortal Kings had complicated feelings over this. Some were terrified while others felt suffocated. It was as if they sensed unseen eyes staring at them.
It felt as if a terrifying being had awakened and its aura made all living beings tremble in fear.
Before coming here, they thought about all the possible outcomes. Perhaps they would die here and serve as nourishment for the one before them.
However, Gu Changge looked like an incredibly young and easygoing man. He did not even speak of doing something like that. Instead, he warned them about the impending chaos that would besiege the Immortal Domain as something terrifying was about to happen.
“Perhaps reuniting the Immortal Domain and the Other Domain so that Mountains and Oceans True World can reborn as one is our only choice, as well as our opportunity.”
“The disconnection to the Source World had led to the incompleteness of the World Principles in the Immortal Domain… We’ve been stuck at our cultivation level for many epochs now without ever seeing any hope of advancing.”
Many of the Immortal Kings had considered various aspects of the situation. They were no fools, of course. They knew how to make the right decisions depending on their circumstances.
“The Other Domain has their Immortal Emperor Ancestors to rely upon, though it is uncertain how much they know about this situation.”
One of the Immortal Kings thought about the fact that the reunification of Mountains and Oceans True World not only involved the Immortal Domain but the Other Domain as well.
Should the Other Domain refuse to go along with this plan, a great battle between the two Domains would most likely ensue.
As it was, ever since the Other Domain conquered the Western Immortal Domain millions of years ago, the two Domains barely clashed.
In reality, before the Forbidden Epoch, the land that was later called the Western Immortal Domain originally belonged to the Other Domain. However, due to Gu Changge, the Ancestors of the Emperor Families of the Other Domain handed over that territory and retreated further.
At the time, those Ancestors were genuine Immortal Emperors. Quasi-Immortal Emperors could not compare to them.
“The descendants of King Ming of the Other Domain are currently at my residence in the Central Immortal Domain…” King Luo took this opportunity to share the news that he received from the Other Domain. King Ming of the Other Domain wanted to join forces with the Central Immortal Domain to go against Gu Changge.
While King Luo did not give a response to King Ming, he did not refuse either.
“King Ming of the Other Domain? The one who fled the Western Immortal Domain back then?”
Gu Changge chuckled faintly and said, “He won’t be able to escape. I left a mark on him. I plan on using him to locate those ancient men hidden deep inside the depths of the Other Domain.”
His words made the Immortal Kings shiver in fear. Previously, they thought that King Ming managed to escape due to both luck and strength. However, they now knew Gu Changge had allowed him to escape on purpose.
Could it be that Gu Changge’s real target was the Immortal Emperor Ancestors?
The Immortal Kings dared not dwell on this topic. The Immortal Emperor Ancestors were far superior to them. Despite being in a distant universe, these Ancestors could still sense it when others hold a thought about them.
“We will do as you command, sir. If you wish to attack the Other Domain, we will mobilise an army of hundreds of millions to await your order.”
This was a crucial matter that affected the future of Mountains and Oceans True World. Therefore, the Immortal Kings were wise and sensible enough to not try and play any games.
Naturally, the main reason for this was Gu Changge’s presence. They dared not try anything before him.
In reality, apart from the Immortal Kings present, there were many other Immortal Kings in the Immortal Domain who had not made their presence known yet, especially those from the Central Immortal Domain.
King Luo and the others could relaxed now. They had decided that as soon as they returned to the Central Immortal Domain, their first task was to scour for news of the descendants of the Immortal Palace.
Apart from that, since Mountains and Oceans True World was to be reunited, the Immortal Domain needed to be combined as one too.
The five regions were scattered across different universes and separated by chaotic turbulence. That being said, they believed that with Gu Changge’s help, these were not of any notable issue.
Initially, due to Gu Changge, they were too afraid to interfere with the Source World. However, now that everything was to be reunited as one, the Source World and the Immortal Domain would be connected as well.
“Are you going to leave just like that after seeing me? You don’t even plan on greeting me?”
As the banquet came to an end, the Immortal Kings got ready to leave. Their hearts were a lot heavier now once the recent revelations weighed on them.
And yet, it was at this time that Gu Changge chuckled faintly and looked towards Wang Zijin, who was getting ready to leave with the two Immortal Kings from the Wang Family. He called out to her to stop her.
He had noticed Wang Zijin much earlier. Though he was startled, it was not a complete surprise.
After asking Jiang Chuchu about it a while back, he guessed that Wang Zijin was no longer in the Upper Realm. Thus, despite being a little surprised to see her here, it was not completely unexpected.
Of course, he did not mean to ignore her. He simply thought that catching up with an old acquaintance should only happen after he was done with official matters.
He did not think that Wang Zijin would choose to leave quietly even though she recognised him too. She did not even plan on greeting him. It was rather unlike her. In the past, she would not have reacted this way.
