Luo Yanxi was dressed in a pale green flowing dress that complemented her simple yet captivating makeup. With her hair flowing like wisps of clouds, she possessed an otherworldly allure akin to a pristine orchid. She gazed silently at the man who stood next to the stall, dressed in white. A peculiar light flickered in her eyes.
The man literally seemed out of this world. Despite his exceptional looks, none of the cultivators around him seemed to notice him. As he paused beside a stall, his gaze ran through the assortment of broken weapons, emanating an aura that was otherworldly.
Song Yunjie, a young man from the Heavenly Inquisition Ancient Sect, only took notice of this peculiar situation after listening to his Junior Sister. The jealousy on his face promptly transformed into sheer astonishment.
He glanced at his fellow Junior Brothers and realised that none of them noticed the enigmatic man in white either. His presence could easily be overlooked, unless one took the time to truly observe their surroundings.
“Is he a peerless expert? I’ve heard that this ancient city conceals all sorts of extraordinary individuals. Sometimes, even an Immortal Kings dare not act too presumptuously. It truly is a world full of hidden wonders,” he mused to himself.
It was at this moment, the young man dressed in white, who had been standing by the side of the stall, noticed their curious gazes and looked over in surprise.
Song Yunjie jolted and quickly averted his eyes, fearing that he might have offended the young man. His Junior Sister, Luo Yanxi, remained unfazed. She held the man’s gaze and nodded slightly.
The young man looked even more surprised before responding with a smile and a nod.
He then leisurely made his way deeper into the ancient city. The stark contrast of his relaxed attitude to the sombre atmosphere of the city made him seem out of place. Luo Yanxi also looked away, but her expression was tinged with contemplation.
“Do you know that mysterious man, Junior Sister?” Song Yunjie could not help but inquire, finding it rather strange for his Junior Sister to greet someone else. Typically, she treated the mentors and Elders in her Sect with indifference and showed little concern towards them.
Luo Yanxi cast a glance at him, then shook her head and replied, “No, I don’t.”
“Aren’t you worried about potentially offending a stranger by doing something so out of the blue?” Song Yunjie feared for his Junior Sister. From his perspective, that person seemed to possess immeasurable cultivation, making it even more dangerous to provoke him.
“Not really. I don’t sense any malice from him,” Luo Yanxi replied calmly, then ignored her Senior Brother and walked away on her own.
The members of the Heavenly Inquisition Ancient Sect continued deeper into the ancient city, determined to exit from the opposite side before nightfall and make their way to the Boundless Battlefield. This ancient city was huge, requiring them to pass through numerous Transportation Arrays to reach their destination.
During their journey, Song Yunjie could not help but notice that the enigmatic young man in white was also headed towards the Boundless Battlefield. Coincidentally, their paths aligned once again.
As always, the young man seemed to be invisible to those around him. Only Song Yunjie and his Junior Sister, Luo Yanxi, could perceive his presence. The reason for this peculiar phenomenon remained a mystery to Song Yunjie.
The sky gradually dimmed, casting a mysterious grey hue over the ancient city. It felt as though Heaven itself was on the verge of collapsing. Galaxies surged through the expanse like a Heavenly River, creating a marvellous spectacle that covered the entire sky.
Stars, like ethereal mist, began to emerge at the far reaches of the sky, encircling the ancient city.
Amongst this celestial backdrop, a figure could be seen seated in a meditative posture, breathing starlight in and out. The essence of their breath expelled a surge of energy that soared towards Heaven with the intensity of a mighty waterfall.
Meanwhile, the members of the Heavenly Inquisition Ancient Sect found themselves standing upon an endless expanse of crimson terrain. The relentless winds carried with them a bone-chilling coldness, penetrating deep into their very Souls. The swirling yellow sands obscured both the sky and the ground, creating an atmosphere that sent shivers down the spines of the disciples.
“We have finally arrived at the Boundless Battlefield, but this is just the outskirts. We are still far from the source of the phenomenon. Now that we are here, it is imperative that everyone remain vigilant. The Boundless Battlefield is full of dangers, and strange things will keep appearing one after another,” An Elder of Heavenly Inquisition Ancient Sect cautioned. Apart from them, there were many other cultivators from all corners of the Immortal Domain. Some travelled in groups, while a handful of brave ones thread the path alone.
Song Yunjie approached Luo Yanxi and whispered, “Junior Sister, the young man you’ve been observing seems to be gazing at the Moon.” In truth, there was no need for him to say it, as Luo Yanxi had been fixated on that figure throughout their journey. She could not help but follow his gaze and looked towards the night sky.
A Full Moon hung majestically in the night sky, seemingly supporting the weight of half the sky. Delicate wisps of what seemed like mist could be seen floating towards it. Standing beneath the radiant Moonlight, the figure garbed in pristine white attire exudes an aura of otherworldly grace. Like an Immortal banished from Heaven, he gazed at the resplendent Full Moon.
Luo Yanxi ignored Song Yunjie and kept staring at the young man with a strange look in her eyes. She was not sure if it was just her imagination, but she had been observing the mysterious man in white, hoping to confirm if he was similar to her.
In the current Immortal Domain, there should exist people like her who had awakened memories from their previous lives. Some even retained part of their Dao Fruits from their previous lives, allowing them to progress their cultivation at an astonishing rate.
Her objective in coming to the Boundless Battlefield with her fellow disciples this time was to reclaim an Artifact she had left behind here in her previous life, a weapon.
When Luo Yanxi first entered the city, her attention was immediately drawn to this mysterious figure. There was something extraordinary about his presence, it was almost ethereal and it made her feel uneasy.
This unfathomable man appeared to be quite young. Apart from those who could attain the Dao Fruits of an Immortal King in their early years, only a reincarnated Soul, like Luo Yanxi herself, who had awakened the memories from their previous life, could attain such a remarkable level of cultivation at such a young age.
While she was lost in her thoughts, Luo Yanxi suddenly realised that the distant figure in white had vanished without a trace.
“He’s gone?” She was taken aback. Her gaze returned to that spot a few times in an attempt to confirm whether the man had truly vanished. A tinge of remorse washed over her.
She had initially considered approaching him to strike up a conversation, thinking that they could be friends if he was truly someone from her era.
“How long do you intend to follow me around?” In the next instant, a voice suddenly rang in her ears, causing her entire body to freeze. She felt her very Soul being smothered, leaving her trembling with an overwhelming sense of dread.
The young man in white, whom she had been observing intently, had appeared beside her as if out of thin air.
Gu Changge’s face lit up with curiosity as he gazed at the woman before him, his eyes brimming with interest.
