If this was the Will of Heaven, then she might as well embrace it. Luo Yanxi also had a feeling that the person standing before her was no ordinary individual. Perhaps following Gu Changge around could bring about a significant change.
“You wish to come with me?” Gu Changge turned his head around; his gaze held a hint of surprise at her request.
Although she had yet to fully awaken the powers of her previous life and had not yet gained a foothold in the Immortality Realm, she possessed the Dao Fruit of a Quasi-Immortal Emperor. Given enough time, she could potentially became an unparalleled supreme expert.
In this current era, there were likely numerous individuals like Luo Yanxi. They seemed to have been reincarnated with a purpose, a mission to once again challenge Heaven.
Luo Yanxi gazed at him intently, her expression serious as she asked, “May I?”
Gu Changge could not help but let out a soft chuckle before asking, “You actually plan to follow me? Do you truly know who I am?”
A look of doubt flickered across Luo Yanxi’s face, but she nodded nonetheless and replied, “My intuition tells me that by following you, I may have the chance to make a real difference. Your identity holds no significance to me. It is you I wish to follow, not your status,” she explained her reasoning.
Upon hearing her words, Gu Changge’s smile vanished, replaced by a somewhat peculiar expression.
“If that’s the case, then you may come with me. I hope you won’t regret the decision you made today,” he said.
Considering the present circumstances, it may be wise for him to seek out more reliable allies. The people he nurtured in the Upper Realm were still lacking in strength. Even if they were to ascend to become True Immortals, they could hardly make a significant impact.
On the other hand, while King Luo, the Blood Owl Immortal King, and the others in the Immortal Domain were definitely Immortal Kings, they would be no more than mere cannon fodders when confronted with the supreme figures from the other True Worlds.
Luo Yanxi ignited a spark of inspiration within him. These supreme experts, who had awakened from the cycle of reincarnation, were reborn in a sense. Endowed with the Dao Fruit of their past life, they would be able to reach new heights that others normally could not within a short span of time. Moreover, these individuals carried with them a Heaven defying amount of Fortuity.
It also became apparent that these individuals also shared similar life experiences, as Luo Yanxi had just mentioned. Their beloved homeland, the people and things they once held dear, had all been destroyed during the Great Purge and lost in the long River of Time.
Upon their awakening in this life, they undoubtedly carried with them the deep-seated desires of their previous lives, to resurrect their loved ones or restore their fallen homeland. With such a similar obsession and purpose, it would be easy to gather them. Luo Yanxi standing before him was the prime example of this, but it seemed that she held some misconceptions about him.
The thought of this made Gu Changge want to chuckle. Perhaps he could use their misunderstanding to his advantage. He even began to consider forming an alliance and calling it the ‘Heavenslayers Alliance’.
While such a bold name would typically attract negative consequences and backlash that could intimidate even Immortal Emperors, Gu Changge paid no mind. There was no so-called ominous or bizarre power in this world that could stop him. Forces with names like Heavenslayers either possessed formidable might or were actually connected to the True Heaven and were pardoned for their transgression.
“I don’t think I’ll regret it. My intuition assures me that this is the right decision,” Luo Yanxi replied. Her expression had turned calm once again.
“The crickets you hear chirping in the fall won’t be around the next spring. Likewise, the birth and demise of an ancient world is but the ebb and flow of the tide in the Boundless Fallen Ocean,” Gu Changge remarked with a smile. “Amidst the grand scheme of the world, no matter how formidable we may be, we will eventually wither away. Your hesitance today may alter something in the future instead.”
Luo Yanxi was momentarily bewildered, struggling to grasp the meaning behind Gu Changge’s words. Before she could inquire further, Gu Changge had already ventured deeper into the Boundless Battlefield.
Scrambling to catch up, Luo Yanxi asked, “How should I address you? During my era, people preferred to call me Ancestor Luo, Empress Luo or Immortal Luo.”
“How to address me? You may refer to me however you please, but the world prefers to call me a Demon,” Gu Changge replied with an unwavering smile.
“Demon?” Luo Yanxi gasped, once again taken aback.
Those from the Heavenly Inquisition Ancient Sect were unable to catch up with Luo Yanxi despite their best efforts, and lost sight of her along the way. Yellow sand rolled at their feet, the Boundless Battlefield looked extremely eerie and desolate beneath the starry night sky.
“Junior Sister…” Song Yunjie slumped to the ground in a daze as he gazed upon the vast battlefield. The other members of the Heavenly Inquisition Ancient Sect shared his sense of helplessness and knew that catching up was an impossible feat. Even True Immortals dared not venture further, for dark tendrils of mist had emerged from various locations ahead.
The black mist seemed to have a mind of its own. It writhed in the air before bursting, unleashing an ancient malevolent energy that could corrupt anything in its path. To ordinary beings, this ancient and desolate place was shrouded by a perpetual mist and haunted by evil spirits all year long. It resembled a towering embankment, reaching towards Heaven, its grandeur akin to a reclining giant.
A great commotion erupted from the other side, a loud rumbling noise was heard and the entire Boundless Battlefield shook as if two worlds were colliding into each other. Wave after wave crashed upon the embankment, erupting into steam that dispersed in every direction. Yet, this steam was far from ordinary, concealing within it countless Small Universes.
To the people watching at the embankment, it was merely a wave. However, for the cultivators and creatures residing within these Small Universes, they were experiencing a long cycle of reincarnation.
This was the most formidable and enigmatic power in existence. The tides surged and receded, worlds were born and destroyed. It was an eternal cycle that knew no end.
“The frequency of the Dark Tide is accelerating… I’m a little worried that the embankment won’t be able to withstand its force, as some waves have already managed to breach its defences…”
Alongside the embankment stood a magnificent ancient rustic castle. This castle, once an abandoned fort, was engraved with countless intricate runes and Prohibition Arrays. Many parts of it had been damaged, but it was the diligent efforts of later generations that allowed it to proudly stand once more in the world.
A group of terrifying figures stood outside the castle, gazing at the embankment solemnly. The powerful tides relentlessly crashed against it, causing the mountains to tremble and the ground to shake incessantly.
Explosions erupted from the ground, revealing massive rifts that unleashed a brilliant light. Within the brilliance were skeletal remains and shattered weapons.
It was impossible to count the skeletal remains buried in this place. The yellow sand beneath their feet had accumulated into small hills. These massive rifts were the haunting remnants of Dark Tides that had once swept through. Any approaching cultivators would be instantly obliterated by the terrifying forces at play, reducing them to mere ashes. Even an Immortal Kings would not dare to approach.
