The Boundless Fallen Ocean stretched endlessly, filled with undulating waves, each one a composition of broken ancient worlds, crashing and receding relentlessly.
Peculiarly shaped islands were nestled amidst these waves. Terrible corpses lay submerged within, their decaying forms rising and falling with the tides.
This was the most mysterious place in existence, with no one knowing how the Boundless Fallen Ocean came to be.
A perpetual, dense fog enveloped the surroundings, obscuring even an Immortal King’s vision, rendering the distant landscape a mere blur.
Without a proper sense of direction, one would undoubtedly become disoriented but at this moment, a faint halo was sighted amidst the darkness.
On one of the solitary islands, a colossal figure resembling a lifeless corpse sat in a cross-legged position. A subtle fluctuation emitted from its entire body, akin to a faint spark amidst the darkness of the night. Dressed in a tattered black robe, the figure remained motionless, with only a heap of white bones remaining and its eye sockets deeply hollowed. Yet, within its skeletal form, a delicate light flickered, creating a soft glow that illuminated the area around it.
“That’s…” A whisper escaped the mouth of that blurry figure. The light that was about to go out in his empty eye sockets burned a little brighter as if he had suddenly opened his eyes.
Since he lacked flesh, it was technically impossible for him to open his eyes. Nevertheless, he looked like he was being brought to life in an instant.
“How many years has it been since I last felt the presence of life?” An ancient voice came from the mouth of this terrifying creature. He slowly rose to his feet on the solitary island and turned his head to gaze upon the vast expanse that lay behind it, in the dark Boundless Fallen Ocean.
A massive wave surged forth from that direction, with a force so powerful that it seemed as though it was created by the movement of a giant creature walking through the sea. Countless ancient worlds now lay in ruins, mercilessly churning and shattering in this mighty wave, swiftly sinking and succumbing beneath its depths.
An old and weathered warship sailed across the waves, through the intense aura of Boundless Expanse, as if it came from a barbaric ancient era. Numerous ancient worlds were crushed under this formidable ship, reduced to mere ashes waiting to be swept away by the waves.
It was a shocking scene. Worlds were being extinguished before one’s very eyes and dispersed like grains of sand.
On this ancient and weathered warship, blurry figures stood tall like the terrifying Devil Mountain, casting their watchful gaze over the entire world. Silent and stoic, they remained motionless like sculptures forged from molten iron, exuding an aura that caused the Boundless Fallen Ocean beneath them to roll and boil. An intimidating frigid brilliance surrounded them, like a veil made of time fragments.
These individuals were known as ‘Hunters’ by the creatures from the Boundless Fallen Ocean. They were people who could truly cross the Boundless Fallen Ocean, wandering from one distant shore to another, tirelessly searching and exploring the Boundless Expanse.
They had survived countless epochs, sailing in the Boundless Fallen Ocean. Those shattered ancient worlds that had sunken in the sea were no different than a speck of dust in their eyes.
“Ohoho, I never expected to see Hunters in my lifetime…” The skeleton, rising to his feet on the solitary island, emitted a sound that sounded like both a mirthful chuckle and a heartfelt sigh. Flames flickered deep within his eye sockets and World Principles seemed to melt away. A dazzling light suddenly enveloped him. Every piece of bone shone brightly, and the potent energy of the Great Dao coursed through his body.
He had been sitting on this desolate and lawless land for countless years, yet his vitality remained undiminished. One could only imagine how terrifying his strength was.
The Boundless Fallen Ocean surrounding him rippled with each breath he took, its waves crashing with intensity. Strange creatures lurking in the shadows hastily retreat, too afraid to come near.
Standing on the solitary island, he gazed upon the peculiar expanse behind him. The massive wave approached, only to dissolve upon reaching him. It was as if there was an invisible barrier in front of him, repelling all in his path.
On the weathered warship in the distance, a formidable figure suddenly snapped open his eyes. A bolt of crimson lightning descended upon the vessel, with an intensity that was capable of obliterating everything in its path.
“There’s someone in that direction…” His appearance bore a resemblance to that of an ordinary human, but there were some ancient patterns etched between his brows. His voice was ancient, hoarse, and indistinct.
As he spoke, he slowly rose to his feet, looking as if he was trying to relieve himself of the stiffness that had held his body captive for far too long. His sudden movement roused the four terrifying figures around him, their unparalleled aura threatening to shatter everything in its path like tempestuous winds.
Their eyes were ablaze like fire as their gazes pierced through the dense fog to see beyond the darkness. Yet they could merely discern a weak glimmer that resembled a figure who was standing in the distance, waiting for them.
They began to converse in an obscure language, their majestic presence reducing the powerful waves to mere fragments and dust.
“We are drawing closer to that True World…” Deep within the ancient warship, an extremely thin and weathered figure with dark skin spoke. Although he looked like a monkey that had been left to dry under the scorching sun, the others showed utmost respect toward him.
They hailed from the distant Spirit Ruin True World, a once thriving ancient world that had existed for countless epochs. Within its borders, diverse civilizations and legacies flourished. It experienced both glorious peaks and sudden declines. Akin to the ebb and flow of the tides, everything in this world was bound by the cycle of prosperity and decline, growth and demise. Nothing was truly Immortal, and the Spirit Ruin True World they called home was no exception.
After undergoing many cycles of reincarnation and surviving the Great Purge multiple times, the Spirit Ruin True World eventually reached its breaking point and began to crumble. All that remained of its True Spirit was a feeble consciousness. It continued to safeguard the True World, concealing it and preventing it from being discovered by other formidable ‘predators’.
With no other option left, these people embarked on the path of a Hunter, like countless others traversing the Boundless Fallen Ocean. They ventured alone through the Boundless Fallen Ocean, hunting and scavenging like lone wolves for the sake of survival. Before the impending demise of their True World, they must find another True World so that they could infuse its Life Force to their homeland to revive it.
For countless years, they journeyed tirelessly, leaving their home behind and venturing into the unknown. They were unaware of the current state of their homeland. Perhaps it had already been destroyed during their prolonged absence. Yet, they had no other choice. Once they had chosen this path, there was no room to retreat. Fortunately, along the way, they finally sensed the aura of another True World not too far ahead from where they were.
That True World was relatively young. Compared to other existing True Worlds, it could considered a newborn, which was exactly what they had been searching for. The strength of such a True World would not too intimidating. At most, its True Spirit had just set foot on the Path of Transcendence. They were even more delighted to learn that this True World seemed to have experienced a Great Purge.
The aura of its True Spirit had vanished. Without its protection, the existence of this True World could no longer be concealed, leaving it exposed to the Boundless Expanse.
This was akin to starting a bonfire amidst the darkness or putting a drop of blood in the depths of the sea. Every ‘predator’ that sensed it would swiftly flock towards it.
This world never lacked Lunatics who possessed unimaginable strength. They had detached themselves from their past, their identity, and the world they were born into. In the eyes of these Lunatics, everything was mere prey. They not only hunted those traversing the Boundless Fallen Ocean but also viewed weaker True Worlds as sustenance to be consumed. Their unwavering focus on advancing to higher Realms, coupled with their formidable cultivation, made them one of the most fearsome beings to roam this world.
The thin figure sitting cross-legged deep inside the ancient warship gazed ahead into the darkness and remarked, “It seems like we run into a Lunatic.”
The warship they were in was crafted from special materials, harnessing all the immense power of the True World they were from. This remarkable vessel ensured their safety as they traversed the Boundless Fallen Ocean, a feat that would have been impossible on their own. While they did not possess the same level of strength as those ‘Lunatics’ who traversed across the Boundless Expanse alone, each one of them was an enigmatic force to be reckoned with. Unless absolutely necessary, they preferred to avoid encounters with those ‘Lunatics’.
“Big Brother, how about we change our route and go around it?” another figure on the warship suggested, expressing his reluctance towards the potential risk. Despite being Hunters, they feared those ruthless Lunatics and preferred not to waste their time and energy here. Their ultimate goal was to reach the ‘weak’ True World, so that they could let their homeland absorb and assimilate it, thus giving rise to a brand new existence.
“I’m afraid it’s already too late. Even if we don’t go there, he will approach us.” The thin figure shook his head, his eyes were calm. The ancient warship caused the waves in the Boundless Fallen Ocean to roar. The fog parted, revealing glimpses of blurry figures lurking in the shadows. They seemed to be stuck in those places like trapped Souls, unable to venture further from that spot.
“Greetings everyone, I am the White Bone Ancestor King.” The bony figure stood tall on the little island, its eye sockets ablaze with dancing flames. Although he was wearing a tattered black robe, he exuded an undeniable air of power and presence. He seemed to be grinning as he slowly approached the ancient warship.
The Boundless Fallen Ocean under him unexpectedly calmed down, forming a pathway. Countless ancient worlds beneath his feet turned into a smooth path, leaving behind a trail of what seemed like white bones.
“The Great Dao of Bones…”
The pupils of the figures aboard the ancient warship momentarily constricted. This individual was a peerless expert who had condensed a true Great Dao.
“Greetings, fellow Daoist.”
Deep inside the ancient warship, the figure that everyone called Big Brother rose to his feet and came out and gave his greetings in his obscured language. Due to their advanced cultivation, they were able to form a connection that transcended verbal communication. Their senses intertwined, effortlessly conveying the true essence of their intentions to each other.
“Where are you all headed to? Do you mind giving me a ride?” The individual known as the White Bone Ancestor King was a skeleton, yet he appeared to be smiling. Flames flickered in his eye sockets as he observed the figures aboard the ancient warship. The energy that he was giving off showed that he was in a great mood.
“Given your strength, why would you still require any means of transportation to reach your destination?” The pupils of the figure, honoured as Big Brother, shrank, yet he posed the question with a composed demeanour. The White Bone Ancestor King’s immense strength was rather intimidating to him. He even wondered how many years the White Bone Ancestor King had lived in this area.
He was a being that could unleash the aura of an Immortal Emperor, and embarked on the Path of Transcendence, condensed a unique Great Dao and transcended three Immortal Decays.
There were many individuals who could unleash the aura of an Immortal Emperor in the Boundless Fallen Ocean. In some ancient worlds, these individuals were considered absolute Immortal that could reign for countless years. However, in the eyes of those who were on the Path of Transcendence, Immortal Emperors could be effortlessly extinguished with a mere wave of their hand.
For every time a cultivator goes passes through a Tribulation, their cultivation and strength would increase beyond measure. The reason why he dared to lead his group to navigate the Boundless Fallen Ocean was that he was the most powerful expert in his homeland, having transcended the three Immortal Decays and on the verge of reaching the True Dao Realm. He was powerful enough to eliminate an Immortal Emperor with just a single thought. Yet, little did he expect that the strength of a ‘lunatic; he encountered here would instil fear within him.
“No, no, no. There’s a reason why this place is known as the Boundless Expanse. I cannot fathom how long it will take me to discover another suitable place to stay with my own two feet. Surely, you must have stumbled upon some promising locations since you’re in such a hurry?” The Bone Ancestor King shook his head and smiled, but he looked terrifying due to his eerie visage. His words sent shivers down the spine of everyone aboard the ancient warship. They felt as if they were being targeted by a horrifying presence.
“Not only that, this ship’s hull is crafted from the Primordial Source Metal and Creation Tribulation Metal. It seems that the True World you come from is abundant in resources. The True World I devoured back then only yielded a piece of palm-sized Primordial Source Metal…” the White Bone Ancestor King continued talking to himself. His voice was filled with nostalgia, but everyone felt chilly listening to him.
While speaking, the Bone Ancestor King had already boarded the ancient warship without anyone noticing. With a crack, he effortlessly removed the head of one of the formidable beings beside him and began to gnaw on it.
