“Is it because of the Remembrance Immortal Technique?”

Gu Changge turned around looking a little taken aback, though he soon figured out the reason.

The Dao Technique that Yue Mingkong cultivated was connected to fate and reincarnation. She had once used the Remembrance Immortal Technique to cross the River of Time in her sleep and cultivate in the past.

Naturally, she did so while Gu Changge was beside her, protecting her. Otherwise, considering Yue Mingkong’s current strength, she would not have been able to bear the terrifying karmic consequences and backlash that came with crossing the River of Time, even though it was only in her dreams.

Gu Changge was abruptly reminded of Chan Honyi and Tao Yao, the two that he had kept restrained inside the River of Time. In a sense, they were also honing their cultivation in the past right now.

“Yeah. I might remain in seclusion for quite some time. I don’t know when or how I’ll wake up either.” Yue Mingkong softly responded.

“Just focus on your cultivation. You don’t have to worry about anything else.” Gu Changge smiled and went over to pull her into a gentle embrace.

“You shouldn’t miss me too much either.” Yue Mingking smiled teasingly as she rested her head against his shoulder.

“I would not be able to help it.” Gu Changge said with a faint smile as he held her soft figure.

Yue Mingkong entered seclusion, and just as she said, even she was unable to tell when she would reemerge.

Even though she created the Remembrance Immortal Technique herself, she too did not fully comprehend the mysteries of it.

Perhaps her dream would take her back to the most ancient of times.

Gu Changge sent Ah Da to stand guard outside the cave and protect Yue Mingkong.

Even though Ah Da was born out of the malevolent energy from the Demon Lord’s True Blood in the Demon-Burying Abyss, in terms of Physique and aptitude, he was not any weaker than an Immortal King.

Over the years, Gu Changge had intentionally or unintentionally fed Ah Da with an abundance of resources, and by now, Ah Da’s true strength was comparable to that of Immortal Kings.

Yue Mingkong’s seclusion spurred Gu Changge into considering many other things.

Although he did not care about the impending Great Purge that would descend upon Mountains and Oceans True World, the same could not be said for those around him. This was also the case for his parents and Family in this life.

After finding out that Gu Changge was actually the Demon Lord who once annihilated the world, the Immortal Gu Family was still a little afraid of him.

This was an unavoidable situation that could not be changed, and initially, Gu Changge did not mind it either.

However, Yue Mingkong’s seclusion made him consider these things. [Maybe I should help those around me become stronger.]

Although it was within Gu Changge’s means to protect them, he could not guarantee that everyone would be safe when it was time for him to reel in the net. After all, his plan involved two other Original True Ancestors who were unspeakable and unfathomable beings. Even now, he was not absolutely certain of his success.

“I would not have had to care about such things if I was alone… I’ve ended up allowing myself to get caught in this plan…” Gu Changge shook his head and rubbed his forehead.

Meanwhile, deep inside the Immortal Gu Family Residence.

There was a place that looked like holy grounds where sanctity filled the air. Ancient trees towered high in the sky while Divine Mountains stood proudly. The air was filled with Immortal Energy, and the place seemed like an independent universe detached from the world.

Silver waterfalls cascaded down from the mist-filled air. Though the rest of the world was undergoing major upheavals, this place seemed to maintain its otherworldliness.

At this moment, many of the Gu Family Ancestors bore solemn expressions as they gathered inside the ancestral hall.

It was a simple courtyard without the splendour of palaces, but it was filled with divine runes that gleamed and exuded the feeling of antiquity.

“Countless epochs have passed since the establishment of our Gu Family. Our lineage can be traced back to the era before the Forbidden Epoch, and even to the Primordial Mythical Era…”

A weathered-looking Elderly being in a loose black robe was standing inside the ancestral hall and addressing everyone. His black robe was embroidered with leaves and covered his entire body, even his feet. No one could see the shape of his body. All they saw was the loose black robe.

Nevertheless, the Gu Family Ancestors treated him with the highest respect. Even the proudest of Ancestors like Gu Lang were standing in silence to take in what was being said.

A few other weathered-looking ancient beings stood beside the Elderly man in black. They were surrounded by mist, and the Chaos Qi that surged around them made everyone else’s hearts quiver.

These beings came from the Immortal Domain. In fact, they came from the Gu Family of the Immortal Domain.

After the Forbidden Epoch, the Gu Family had split into two. Some of the Ancestors led part of the Family over to the Immortal Domain. The remaining Family members stayed in the Upper Realm to watch over their homeland.

Gu Changge already knew about the other branch of the Gu Family when he was in the Immortal Domain, but he did not go over to them, nor did he ask about them.

The Black-Robed Elderly man who just spoke was the one credited as the Founder of the Gu Family.

Many of the Family addressed him as the First Ancestor, but he called himself the Ninth Ancestor. No one knew how long he had lived. He was older than they could think.

A lot of the Ancestors thought he had passed on, so they did not expect him to show up again with many of the Family members from the Gu Family in the Immortal Domain in tow.

“In terms of history and age, the Mountains and Oceans True World is nothing compared to our Gu Family.”

The Black-Robed Elderly man’s voice was aged. Just by standing there, he gave everyone a sense of time passing them by.

The space around him contorted. Even the World Principles seemed to be crying lamentably.

The Gu Family Ancestors inside the ancestral hall were stunned by the words of their Ninth Ancestor. They never thought they would hear such a thing.

They did not have a clear understanding of the Gu Family’s history. It was barely mentioned in the Family’s records too. That being said, no one expected the Gu Family to have such an extended history that even Mountains and Oceans True World was incomparable to it.

“Our Gu Family has remained in Mountains and Oceans True World all these years for one reason only, and that is to revive our great Early Ancestor.”

The very next words out of the Black-Robed Elderly man’s mouth made the Gu Family Ancestors feel shaken to the core. Rooted to the spot, they felt as if they had been struck by lightning.

Though he did not speak loudly, the aura that came through made their hearts shiver. Even the stars beyond seemed to be trembling and threatening to fall.

Everyone had frozen. They could not believe what they just heard. [Reviving our Early Ancestor?]

[The Gu Family’s Early Ancestor?]

[Who was that?]

The Black-Robed Elderly man was unsurprised by the crowd’s reaction. His aged voice grew heavy as he continued to explain.

“The Early Ancestor of our Gu Family was a truly everlasting being who Transcended and reached the True Dao Realm. In all of history, only a handful of beings ever achieved that. He could crush all of the so-called True Dao Realm experts who transcended the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Immortal Decays by simply lifting his finger. Alas, in the end, when everything seemed hopeless upon the arrival of that catastrophic Great Purge, he chose to sacrifice his true body and merge with the world to protect everyone…”

The Black-Robed Elderly man’s voice sounded even graver and a little hoarse too. It was as if he had witnessed that battle himself.
