The entire Immortal Domain was stunned. Cultivators of all levels were thunderstruck by what they saw.
One after the other, the Dharma Bodies cut through the universe and headed towards the Gu Family’s territory.
However, the Gu Family in the Immortal Domain had relocated to the Upper Realm some years ago. Therefore, those who came to their previous territory in the Immortal Domain did not see anyone around, so they turned around and headed towards the Upper Realm next.
At the same time, there was also a lot of activity in the Upper Realm.
Many of the Gu Family members sensed the arrival of formidable auras. It was a shocking sign.
“What happened? Why are there so many experts coming to our residence?”
Those who were standing guard at the mountain entrance were shocked and quickly reported the situation.
Ming and Shen Xianer appeared outside the mountain entrance. He did not force his way in for he came with a purpose and did not wish to offend the Gu Family.
“Is this the Family my Sister belongs to?” Shen Xianer was amazed by the majestic legacy before her. It was no surprise that her Master showed such respect to the Gu Family. They had an ancient heritage and unfathomable might.
Technically, just like Gu Xianer, the blood of the Gu Family flowed in her veins too. Her parents had simply given birth to her in the Heavenly Tide Realm.
This was Shen Xianer’s first time visiting the Gu Family Residence though, and what she saw astonished her.
“Is this the Gu Family Residence? It is rich with mystique…” King Luo and the other Immortal Kings from the Immortal Domain were thunderstruck too.
Initially, they were a little confused by Ming’s decision to come to the Gu Family, but after seeing this, they realised that even the tiniest details of this place were enough to shock them all.
Despite being Immortal Kings, they could not behave recklessly before the Gu Family either. The surging Fortuity rushed out like a massive river as it gathered in the sky above and reflected into the distance.
The Gu Family Residence was like a small world of its own that stood independently from the rest of the world without any outside interference. Perhaps there was some peerless being hidden within the Gu Family right now.
“This Senior is…” Streaks of divine light flew down from the sky. Some of the ancient beings showed up in their true bodies and asked about Ming’s identity.
Alas, King Luo and the others simply shook their heads in silence as they were unaware of Ming’s origins too.
Many silhouettes gathered in the area, and some were even shrouded in hazy Chaos Mist. They were more powerful than Immortal Kings as they were the ones who had revived in this era.
Following the rushes of divine light, the Endless Sea Clan arrived as well with Ao Teng in the lead.
“Great Commander Ming…” Ao Teng immediately spotted Ming who was standing in front of the entrance, and he froze in shock and disbelief.
“Commander Ming!?” Ao Ling, who was standing behind Ao Teng, also widened her eyes and exclaimed.
As beings from the Primordial Mythical Era, they were separated from the beings of this time by countless epochs. Even the Remnants of the Immortal Palace who survived the Forbidden Epoch did not know about their existence.
Upon seeing this, the ancient beings quickly looked over too.
However, the Endless Sea Clan had numerous experts too, including some who were more powerful than Immortal Kings.
“They are beings from the Primordial Mythical Era, and those two are the children of the Founding Dragon Ancestor. Their origins will astound you.”
One of the elderly beings who appeared in Human Form explained the others with a somewhat shocked tone.
He was originally a carp who once evolved into a True Dragon. He had formidable power and had inherited some legacy from his memories, so he knew a thing or two about Ao Teng and Ao Ling’s identities.
As soon as he spoke, the ancient beings around him gasped in shock and disbelief.
The Primordial Mythical Era was such a long time ago. It could be traced back to the dawn of existence before chaos had been separated. Therefore, it was indeed shocking to find that beings from that era were still alive today.
After hearing their gasps, Ming turned around. His eyes swept over the crowd before landing on Ao Teng and Ao Ling.
“You’re the Third Crown Prince of the Dragon Clan?”
Ming looked taken aback. He did not expect to see a familiar face here, let alone one he knew fairly well. They were from the epoch before the First Great Purge. Just how long ago was that?
Even he could not answer that, and yet, he could still meet a fellow being from that time.
“Greetings, Commander Ming…”
“I didn’t expect you to still be alive! This is wonderful!”
Even though Ao Teng was the Third Crown Prince of the Dragon Clan, he was not proud by any means. He showed great respect for Ming who was once the commander of the Heavenslayers Army.
Ao Ling greeted Ming as well, but she was startled when she noticed Shen Xianer.
[Why does she look like her? Hmm… when I look closer, it’s only a passing resemblance. They don’t look exactly the same. But, could it be that she’s the reincarnation of that woman?]
Ao Ling was unaware of Shen Xianer’s origins, so she could only speculate in her heart.
Ao Teng’s arrival brought a smile to Ming’s face. He was higher than Ao Teng in terms of generational seniority and could very well be considered one of the oldest beings.
He was the one who led the Heavenslayers Army in their efforts to resist the Great Purge. To meet again after all this time was a pleasant surprise to him.
Ao Teng was even more thrilled. He thought that Commander Ming had died in the Great War Against Heaven. He could not have imagined that Ming would still be alive and possess even more unfathomable cultivation now.
Did this mean that the other supreme beings of the Dragon Clan who had fallen in battle could still be alive too?
[Maybe it is just as my Father had said back then.]
While Ao Teng, Ming, and the others exchanged greetings and pleasantries, several streaks of light descended from the sky. The Remnants of the Immortal Palace had arrived as well. Cen Shuang stayed by her Uncle Yi’s side and silently observed the situation.
More and more figures gathered outside the Gu Family Residence, but they all waited with Ming and dared not enter without permission.
Even the Quasi-Immortal Emperors felt fearful and uneasy. They knew they could not underestimate the Gu Family who possessed an unfathomable legacy.
…
Meanwhile, the Founding Ancestor who founded the branch of the Gu Family in Mountains and Oceans True World was currently standing outside the ancestral hall with his hands behind his back.
The Ancestors who came to report to him stood before him respectfully.
“Did all of them come to the Gu Family in the hopes of asking me for a way to deal with this situation?”
“Haha. Well, there is one.”
The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor wore a black robe. His true body was completely hidden in darkness. He shook his head and let out an indistinguishable burst of laughter. No one knew if it had been a mocking or derisive laugh.
All along, he had been considering what Gu Changge said. The Heavenslayers Alliance could not be established simply through a few simple sentences. Throughout these years, he failed to come to a decision and was still considering the matter, so he did not give Gu Changge an answer.
Meanwhile, during this time, Gu Changge vanished without a trace.
Even the Founding Ancestor did not know where Gu Changge was.
Even if there were many things he wished to discuss with Gu Changge, he had no means of doing so, and everything kept getting delayed.
As he stood there in front of the Gu Family Ancestors, he shook his head and chuckled bitterly. He did not know what to say.
Without permission from the Founding Ancestor, these Ancestors could not give a response to the crowd waiting outside either.
…
Back outside.
“Master, is this the significant event that you brought me over to see?”
A streak of sword-like beam fell outside the Gu Family’s entrance, and two figures appeared.
The young man had sharp brows, bright eyes, and a heroic air, while the elderly man was dressed in a tattered Daoist robe that shockingly emanated a Dao aura.
“Something incredible might be happening here today.”
The Master Elder chuckled and shook his head as his gaze swept over the figures before him. Nevertheless, no one apart from Ming was worthy of his attention.
“Quasi-Dao Realm?” Ming noticed the Master Elder too, and his eyes flashed with surprise. He did not expect to see an expert who had stayed so well-hidden this whole time.
If there were no other surprises, this Master Elder was probably the most powerful expert to come about since the Great Purge in Mountains and Oceans True World. He had surpassed Immortal Emperors and had a foot over the threshold of the Dao Realm.
…
Outside Green Mountain Village, the weather grew cold. It was that time of the year again when the leaves dropped and created a blanket of colours for the eyes to feast on.
Small ripples formed on the otherwise calm surface of the lake. A few leaves fell onto a beautiful silhouette whose sleeves were tied up as she washed some clothes.
She set the clothes down and took off the leaf that fell on her hair. Her wrists ached a little, so she stretched them for a while before resuming with the washing.
Gu Changge, dressed in simple hemp clothing, watched this scene in silence.
Yet another leaf fell, and he reached out to catch it.
“It’s autumn again…” He stared at the veins on the leaf and shook his head lightly.
Seasons passed and days went by one after the other. He could no longer remember how many years he had spent in Green Mountain Village.
Some of the children had already grown up and had children of their own.
The young women who admired him had already married and started happy Families of their own, living blissful lives. The young girl who kept waiting for Wang Xiaoniu had grown up into a tall and attractive woman. She rejected all the marriages her parents tried to arrange for her. Alas, the person she was waiting for has yet to return.
She inherited her Sister’s tofu shop by the entrance of Green Mountain Village. Her business was doing great, and she was now the new Tofu Fairy.
Her Older Sister, Chen Ya, had gotten married many years ago and moved to a different city.
Her Husband was a simple and kind-hearted scholar, and the happy couple had a Son and a Daughter.
As Gu Changge observed these changes, he would sometimes wonder why he and Su Qingge did not have any children. This seemed to be something that Su Qingge found regrettable too.
“The world is changing…” Gu Changge withdrew from his thoughts and stared up at the sky. There was not a single cloud in sight.
Autumn added a touch of golden hues to the sky.
Su Qingge came back after washing the laundry and hanging it up to dry. She could not help but chuckle when she spotted Gu Changge’s distracted expression.
“What’s there for you to see in the sky?” She went over to him and took his arm.
Truth be told, she sensed the constant change in Gu Changge. He seemed to be experiencing a life he never had before and was taking in the feelings and aura of ordinary Mortals.
Sometimes, Gu Changge would stare at the mountaintop in silence, as well as stare at the changes in Green Mountain Village. He would keep staring for long periods of time.
If Su Qingge did not know who he was, she might have started worrying that there was something wrong with him.
Actually, in truth, Su Qingge was a little worried. If this period of experiencing came to an end, would Gu Changge abandon her the way he did last time?
If so, this would be yet another round of false joy for her. Once she woke up from this dream, would he no longer be next to her?
In that case, she hoped that the dream would never end.
“There’s nothing much to see in the sky. I’m looking for the end over there…” Gu Changge shook his head and ruffled her hair.
If this had been a dream, he woke up a long time ago. He knew what he was doing and what his goal was. Still, he subconsciously wanted to prolong this experience.
Unfortunately, the changes in the world started a long time ago. Even when he had never attempted to sense anything, someone like him did not even need to do it actively sense it.
[Alas, some things must come to an end. Just as it began, so does it end.]
In Gu Changge’s eyes, the ending did not come abruptly. Everything happened at just the right time.
“The end over there?” Su Qingge followed his gaze, but with her cultivation, she could only see a faint Star Territory. It was too hard for her to see ‘the end’. “Dao has no bounds, so why would there be an end?”
Gu Changge could not resist chuckling when he saw how serious Su Qingge looked as she stared into the distance.
“If Dao has no bounds, why are you trying so hard to look for the end?” Su Qingge stopped what she was doing and glanced at him. She had long since ceased the pursuit of cultivation and the Great Dao. The years she spent living here with Gu Changge were enough for her. Even if she died right now, she would truly not have any regrets. Therefore, Su Qingge could not understand why Gu Changge was determined to find ‘the end’.
“It is precisely the boundlessness of Dao that fuels the search for the end.” Gu Changge simply chuckled in response. Glancing at a falling leaf, he said, “It’s getting windy. The weather’s getting cold again.”
He took off his outer robe and placed it gently around Su Qingge’s shoulders.
“I don’t feel cold at all.” Su Qingge clutched his arm tightly and buried her head against his chest. She blinked her eyes and commented, “The children in the village are so adorable.”
Gu Changge shook his head slightly and said with a smile, “If they’re adorable, why don’t you have one yourself?”
“In that case, let’s go inside.” Su Qingge’s cheeks turned a little pink. It was as if she had a fever. Thus, despite the early hours, she dragged him back into the house.
In reality, Su Qingge knew that the Gu Changge standing before her today had already ended his experiential journey that felt so surreal to her. Right now, he was once again the being who towered above all of existence.
