Considering Gu Changge’s cultivation, it was basically impossible for him to have a child. Furthermore, he never thought about wanting one. A child felt more like a burden to him.
Su Qingge was aware of this, but she still felt a glimmer of hope anyway. Perhaps it was a source of solace for her. She no longer wanted to think about anything else right now. This peaceful and quiet life was complete bliss to her. Even if the world came to an end, she did not care.
Many years ago, she snuck over to her original Lower Realm and checked on her Father.
Soon after she left the Lower Realm, her Father married someone again and had another child. Perhaps he figured that his Daughter would never be returning. So, he married someone else and had another child who could inherit the ancient legacy of the Supreme Stygian Holy Land.
Su Qingge did not appear before her Father to reunite with him. She simply left some Pills in her original palace.
She later went to the Ji Family to see her Mother.
She had long since fallen out with her Little Sister, Ji Qingxuan, and they too no longer shared the warmth of a Sisterly relationship.
Ji Qingxuan held a great deal of power now. She carried herself confidently like a Queen.
All the loose ends were tied, and Su Qingge had no regrets left.
Initially, she moved to Green Mountain Village to live a solitary life in seclusion before taking her final breath.
In a way, Gu Changge’s unexpected appearance fulfilled her final shreds of desires and regrets. Thus, she no longer had any regrets or felt any reluctance to death.
Half a month later, the autumn breeze blew strongly through the colourful trees. As Gu Changge stared at the crimson sky, a myriad of thoughts flashed through his mind.
He had woken up a long time ago, though a more accurate description would be to say he had ended his experiential journey a long time ago.
The experiences and ever-changing states of life came to an end in a natural way.
Dao was complete and well, but all roads came to an end. Naturally, he could not have truly understood mortality in such a short time span. He simply had a deeper understanding of a different path.
What was Heaven, and what was a Human? When all that was superficial was cast aside, only mortality remained.
Gu Changge would much rather term this journey as returning to being Human, rather than returning to being a Mortal.
This process seemed to have planted the seed of humanity in his heart. Perhaps the seed had not sprouted yet, but Gu Changge had a feeling it would be a great opportunity for him and one that would truly allow him to transcend.
“Do you want to leave with me?” Gu Changge casually asked after withdrawing his gaze and putting his thoughts away.
He could not stay in Green Mountain Village forever. As he said in the beginning, this was merely a short trip to experience a new life. It was just a kind of reincarnation for him. And every beginning comes to an end.
Su Qingge appeared behind him and shook her head. “I want to stay here. I’ve grown disillusioned with the cultivation world. I don’t wish to experience those things again.”
That did not surprise Gu Changge. Su Qingge had to have her reasons for settling down in this place and withdrawing from the world.
He respected her decision and would not force her to leave with him. His appearance in this place and reunion with her had merely been a coincidence.
Even Gu Changge had to marvel at such fated coincidences. It was as if they were destined to be.
When it came to matters involving himself, Gu Changge might not have been able to deduce them from the start, even if he wanted to.
It was clear that Su Qingge was intrinsically connected to him. If he tried to forcibly deduce their future, she might suffer a backlash, and it would not be as simple as her Soul being destroyed.
“Is the world about to suffer a catastrophic calamity?” Su Qingge asked without talking about his departure.
Gu Changge nodded before shaking his head again. It was indeed a calamity for all living beings. But in his eyes, it was an opportunity for the entire Mountains and Oceans True World.
“Countless civilisations have been born beyond in the Boundless Expanse. The Immortal Dao Civilisation that we are in is merely one of them. The Immortal Domain and the Upper Realm are merely branches of an Immortal Dao Civilisation… Every day, many civilisations rise and fall. The fight for eternity is a constant one. Fights break out in this world every day, let alone in the vast collection of worlds and civilisations. You can say that this calamity is due to another civilisation attempting to prolong their existence by conquering our True World…”
Gu Changge gave a simple explanation of the present situation of the Mountains and Oceans True World.
Su Qingge nodded with a vague understanding. Even though she was living in seclusion in Green Mountain Village, she was somewhat aware of the goings-on in the world beyond the village.
That being said, she was merely in the Quasi-Nirvana Realm who had a long way to go before becoming a True Daoist. How could she contribute to the confrontation of this calamity?
She no longer pursued furthering her cultivation.
Nevertheless, due to her intimate relationship with Gu Changge, even though she did not cultivate, an abundance of the Power of Fortuity cascaded down and strengthened her cultivation.
The Grand Spiritual Masters would be able to clearly sense this.
Ever since the dawn of time, it had always been beneficial to ally oneself with experts, as well as powerful Forces. Some of the Primordial Gods from ancient times had divine servants who received their blessing and protection.
“I can’t help you with much now. The only thing I can do is not cause you any more trouble. The Immortal Domain, Mountains and Oceans True World, and the Boundless Expanse are all too far beyond my reach. I’m just an ordinary girl. If you hadn’t brought me to the Upper Realm back then, I might’ve reached my limits and died by now. Perhaps, the only thing I can do now is pray for you. I will keep this place, the place where you have stayed, clean and tidy so that if you are ever tired someday or wish to rest, you can come here and have a good night’s sleep.”
“I’ll always be here, waiting for you.” Su Qingge said softly with a smile on her face.
Gu Changge smiled and stroked her cheek before nodding. “Okay.”
He was still wearing the hemp clothing when he left Green Mountain Village.
Su Qingge made it by hand. Even though it was not intricate or luxurious by any means, every stitch was the product of her efforts. He wanted to honour her efforts.
…
Back inside the Gu Family Residence, the Founding Ancestor who was dressed in black had no choice but to show himself.
As time went on, more and more experts from various places came over, including ancient beings from the Other Domain who exuded a heavy aura of senescence. It was clear they would not stay alive for much longer.
“Why have you come to the Gu Family?” The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor was named Gu Wuwang. Even though his figure was hidden by the black robe and his face could not be seen, no one dared to underestimate him.
As his gaze swept over the crowd, he asked a question despite knowing its answer.
“The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor possesses such terrifying power…” The Master Elder in a tattered Daoist robe began to look serious. When he first saw the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor, his heart leapt so strongly that he nearly exclaimed in shock.
As a Quasi-Dao Realm expert himself, he considered himself to be invincible in this era as he had not met his match.
However, he had been stunned several times today. Apart from the unfathomable Ming, there was also the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor.
The Master Elder in a Daoist robe could not help but recall the young man he met at Green Mountain Village. If he recalled correctly, the young man’s surname had been Gu too.
[Could it be that the young man is from this Gu Family as well?]
Right now, everyone including Ming had solemn expressions. Ming could sense just how powerful the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor was. The latter was undoubtedly far stronger than him.
He was currently at the threshold of the Dao Realm and had not passed the First Decay Tribulation yet. Meanwhile, the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor was a being who had passed at least several Decay Tribulations. Ming was both thunderstruck and apprehensive.
If he had not, by some chance, made the abrupt decision to come over to the Gu Family and inquire about Gu Changge’s whereabouts, he might not have known that there was such a terrifying being in the Gu Family.
This being was probably the most powerful being in existence in the present Mountains and Oceans True World.
The other cultivators who had not reached the Dao Realm yet could not sense the might of the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor. Nevertheless, judging from Ming’s attitude and expression, they could tell that the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor was certainly no ordinary being. Thus, they dared not show any disrespect either. Even the Remnants of the Immortal Palace who called themselves the ones who once ruled the Immortal Domain dared not speak much.
Cen Shuang and the others stood quietly behind Commander Yi and waited to see what would happen.
“We have come to discuss a solution with you, Senior. The Great Purge from the Boundless Expanse is nearly upon us. If we don’t have a plan, I’m afraid the entire Mountains and Oceans True World will be destroyed.”
When facing the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor, Ming had to show the deference of a Junior, for the former was certainly far older than he was and came from much greater origins.
“A solution?” The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor chuckled and waved his sleeve. “I don’t have a solution. I think you’re looking for the wrong person. I only wish to protect my Gu Family’s legacy. What does the destruction of Mountains and Oceans True World and its inhabitants have to do with me?”
Everyone’s expressions morphed into disbelief. They did not expect to hear such an answer.
“When the nest is destroyed, no eggs will survive, Senior. If Mountains and Oceans True World is sacrificed, the Gu Family won’t be able to survive either…” Ao Teng spoke up to try and persuade the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor.
During a time like this, Mountains and Oceans True World had to be united as one to fend against the enemy. Otherwise, everyone would be sacrificed.
The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor possessed inscrutable cultivation. With his help, they had a much higher chance of success.
The experts from other Forces began to frown as well. It seemed as if the situation had become a lot more troublesome.
Even Forces with a history of enmity towards each other had overcome their differences and were discussing how they could survive this disaster together. After all, if they could not resolve this crisis, they and all their friends and Family would be destroyed and gone forever.
They did not want to see that happening.
“Even though you are powerful, Senior, do you truly think you can protect your Family by yourself? The Hunters from the Boundless Expanse are already prepared for a desperate gamble.”
Luo Yanxi spoke up. As someone who was once a Quasi-Immortal Emperor, it was only natural that she was here as well.
She had personally experienced the Great Purge that befell her homeland, so she knew better than anyone just how important it was for everyone to stand united in such situations.
Therefore, she tried to persuade the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor too.
After understanding what Gu Changge had done throughout this time, she began to understand what his purpose was.
As the world in which she reincarnated into, Luo Yanxi did not wish to see Mountains and Oceans True World being destroyed the way her True World had been.
Previously, many in the crowd were conscious of their identities and felt like it was not their place to speak, but they now swiftly tried to convince the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor as well.
He was an unfathomable expert whose cultivation had reached an unknown Realm. Among the Remnants of the Immortal Palace, the man that Cen Shuang and the others referred to as Uncle Yi also cupped his hands and beseeched, “Senior, this is a significant issue that will affect the entire Mountains and Oceans True World, as well as the life of countless living beings. I hope that you will be kind enough to lend us a hand, Senior.”
“The Gu Family may be powerful with a legacy that cannot be measured, but if this Great Purge is not resisted, the entire Mountains and Oceans True World will be sacrificed. There won’t be a safe place for the Gu Family to escape to…”
He was once the Great Commander of the Immortal Palace who led countless soldiers and generals. He had an abundance of Fortuity and possessed powerful cultivation. Ever since his return from death, his cultivation had surpassed his previous heights, but he was still far from reaching the Dao Realm.
“There’s no need to say anything else. Compared to all of you, I am even more aware of the true situation. None of you can possibly imagine how devastating this Great Purge will be. If you don’t wish to see your Families dying with Mountains and Oceans True World, you should relocate as soon as possible.”
The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor was frowning hard. The Hunters were not the reason why he did not agree to establish the Heavenslayers Alliance with Gu Changge.
Though the Hunters were powerful, at most, they were on equal footing with him and could not pose a real threat to him. Instead, he was worried about the ‘Lunatics’ mixed in among the Hunters.
Lunatics were those who traversed the Boundless Expanse and had personally devoured True Worlds. There were countless of them, and one had to be at least in the Quasi-Dao Realm to go up against them.
In the Boundless Expanse, the divide between the Quasi-Dao Realm and the True Dao Realm was based on the Decay Tribulations one passed through. Once a cultivator passed their Fourth Decay Tribulation, they would reach the True Dao Realm. As for those in the True Dao Realm, they had to pass the Seventh Decay Tribulation to get the chance to attain True Nirvana. Cultivators of that level were said to be in the Ancestral Dao Realm.
The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor knew that some of the Lunatics in the Boundless Expanse were in the Ancestral Dao Realm. That being said, it was only a small number of them as far too few had ever reached the Ancestral Dao Realm.
These Lunatics had given up on everything they had. They could not be found in any part of time, not in the past, present, or future. They were like wandering Souls that roamed the Boundless Expanse and could not be killed by the Great Purge.
The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor was concerned that such Lunatics were among the Hunters that were coming over to Mountains and Oceans True World.
Furthermore, Gu Changge had disappeared. Perhaps he had given up on Mountains and Oceans True World.
The only thing the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor could do now was protect the Gu Family and relocate them if necessary.
