“U-Uncle Gu?” When the young man, who came with the Master Elder, saw the young man who appeared out of nowhere, he widened his eyes and exclaimed.

He was in utter disbelief. He could not trust what his eyes were telling him. After all, why would Uncle Gu, whom he met at Green Mountain Village, show up here?

To the young man, this was too surreal.

“It’s him!?” The Master Elder could not resist exclaiming in shock too. He had realised that the figure looked rather familiar.

Gu Changge had left a strong impression on the Master Elder when the latter first saw him in Green Mountain Village. At the time, the Master Elder addressed Gu Changge as Senior.

Even when he recalled that incident later on, he would still feel his hair standing on end. The Master Elder never thought he would run into Gu Changge again here and in such a fashion.

“Demon Lord?”

“Gu Changge?”

By now, the others were reacting as well. Exclaims and various forms of addresses rang out. It was clear that the crowd recognised Gu Changge, even those who had only recently revived had learned about everything that happened thus far from the later generations.

As they knew who Gu Changge was and where he came from, they began to look solemn and wary. In the eyes of the world right now, Gu Changge had both merits and crimes to his name.

Some despised him with every fibre of their being and considered him the Demon Lord who destroyed the world, while some revered him and built temples in his honour.

“Demon Lord …”

Cen Shuang’s expression was as cold as ice. Still filled with hatred, she gritted her teeth and clenched her fists. She still viewed Gu Changge as her enemy who killed her Father. There had been no news of her Father and the rest of the people from the Immortal Palace.

Nothing was heard from Qing Feng who had left for the Nine Heavens either.

Cen Shuang could not help but suspect that Gu Changge might have harmed Qing Feng.

Meanwhile, Cen Shuang’s Uncle Yi had a complicated expression too. He did not know how to address Gu Changge.

The Remnants of the Immortal Palace all viewed Gu Changge as their mortal enemy. So, they nervously tensed up.

He was the Demon Lord who destroyed the Immortal Palace. He was the reason why they ended up like this.

“Demon Lord…”

After hearing how the crowd referred to Gu Changge, Wang Xiaoniu was even more gobsmacked. He was shaken to the core. He never would have thought that his Uncle Gu would be such a prominent being.

Gu Changge could be said to be the most powerful being in Mountains and Oceans True World, and that was probably not all he was.

Wang Xiaoniu had heard the rumours about the Demon Lord from the other cultivators many times now. Yet, the terrifying being that made the world tremble had once stayed with his Family. He even called him Uncle Gu.

Wang Xiaoniu felt dizzy. His mind could barely keep up with the new information.

“What…” The Master Elder chuckled bitterly.

After thinking about it, everything seemed to make sense.

“Greetings, sir…” Meanwhile, Ao Teng and Ao Ling reacted more naturally. They simply addressed Gu Changge as ‘sir’.

After all, back in their era, everyone addressed him with great respect.

Even though Ming had never seen Gu Changge before, Ao Teng and Ao Ling had filled him in on a lot of the things that occurred after the Great War Against Heaven. Therefore, he respected Gu Changge who had once protected Mountains and Oceans True World.

“Greetings, sir.” Ming cupped his hands lightly as a show of respect.

The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor visibly exhaled in relief when Gu Changge appeared. He had been worried that Gu Changge had completely abandoned Mountains and Oceans True World.

“You’re finally here.” the Founding Ancestor said.

He did not ask where Gu Changge had been all this while.

Gu Changge nodded slightly as his eyes swept across the crowd. His gaze rested the longest on Ming and the Master Elder.

Right now, there were probably three Dao Realm ancient cultivators in Mountains and Oceans True World, including the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor.

Ming had touched the threshold of the Dao Realm, though he had not overcome the First Decay Tribulation.

Meanwhile, Wang Xiaoniu’s Master, was in the Quasi-Dao Realm.

The three of them were the most powerful beings in Mountains and Oceans True World now.

The others had varying levels of cultivation. Most of them were only Quasi-Immortal Emperors who had a long way to go before becoming true Immortal Emperors.

Beings like these were slowly revealing themselves now. There had been no sign of them throughout numerous epochs before this.

However, there were also two Immortal Emperors who were shrouded in fog and fragments of time.

One came from the Other Domain, while the other was Cen Shuang’s Uncle Yi.

The Immortal Emperor from the Other Domain could not show his true visage. He used secret techniques to rein in as much of his aura as possible to avoid disrupting the environment of Mountains and Oceans True World.

It was hard for even a single Immortal Emperor to come into existence.

If two Immortal Emperors ran into each other, their respective Daos would clash, and that could very well cause the space around them to shatter, affecting the environment of the world.

It could even cause instability in time itself, sending time into chaos, and unleashing yet another calamity on the world.

Immortal Emperors could not fully rein in themselves and their past, present, and future the way Dao Realm ancient cultivators could. The former could not avoid these karmic consequences yet.

“You said that you wish the world to unite once more?” The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor did not waste any time. He immediately got straight to the point and asked Gu Changge what he meant earlier. Compared to everyone else, he would much rather listen to Gu Changge.

In his eyes, when Gu Changge was in his prime, he was on the same level as the Gu Family’s Early Ancestor. Both were Progenitors who had reached the pinnacle of the Great Dao.

Naturally, Gu Changge would possess foresight and perspective that others did not.

“The Variable has emerged, so it is time to unify the world. There are still some years left. Perhaps a difference could be made.”

Gu Changge smiled faintly as he took his gaze off Ni Chen.

Even Gu Changge acknowledged Ni Chen as the Variable. Therefore, those who had remained suspicious were now satisfied too.

They began to ponder the karma behind establishing a unified front. For this to happen, they needed someone who could bear the massive Fortuity and karma. One false move and the being’s Dao could collapse. Even the world could be brought down with them.

It was indeed a risky bet.

All of the Forces in Mountains and Oceans True World were now betting on Ni Chen, the Variable.

But, they had no other choice either.

Once the Great Purge was upon them, if there was no one around to resist it, everyone would be wiped up and buried in chaos.

“It is indeed time to make a decision.”

The Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor nodded. All along, he had been considering whether he should agree with Gu Changge’s idea of forming the Heavenslayers Alliance.

Perhaps the birth of the Variable was a suitable opportunity.

“What do all of you think?” Gu Changge asked casually as he looked at everyone once more.

Ming represented the many beings from the Primordial Mythical Era. Ao Teng, Ao Ling, and the others followed his lead.

Meanwhile, the Remnants of the Immortal Palace followed the lead of Cen Shuang’s Uncle Yi.

As for the beings from other various eras and epochs, they seemed to follow the lead of Wang Xiaoniu’s Master.

The Other Domain followed the lead of their mysterious Immortal Emperor.

Right now, apart from Gu Changge, the Mountains and Oceans True World could be said to be split into five groups, and all of the decision-makers of these five were gathered here now.

“If doing so will resolve the incoming Great Purge, what’s the harm in following your instructions?” Ming remained silent for a brief moment, but he did not hesitate for long. Soon, he made his decision.

Naturally, Ao Teng, Ao Ling, and the others behind him did not protest.

The Forbidden Epoch had nothing to do with them. In their eyes, Gu Changge held an indescribably high standing, so they could trust him without hesitation.

Gu Changge nodded. As his eyes fell on the young woman behind Ming, he became a little dazed.

However, he swiftly withdrew his gaze.

He had seen her before in the Heavenly Tide Realm. She was Gu Xianer’s Little Sister, Shen Xianer. Disregarding their personalities, the two shared quite a physical resemblance. It was easy to mistake one for the other when they stood in silence.

That being said, Gu Xianer would not be as calm and quiet as her. If she was, it would be an act.

Gu Changge could not help but recall a few things involving Gu Xianer. He had prepared a great gift for her.

Since Ming, a being with unfathomable cultivation, had agreed to it, the others did not hesitate for long either.

Even the Remnants of the Immortal Palace who despised Gu Changge agreed to establish this new unified front.

In a time of crisis when even the very existence of the world was under threat, such personal feelings could be set aside momentarily.

“Since you have all agreed to it, this matter will be a lot easier to handle. I will do my best to help him grow. Hopefully, he will not let us down.”

Gu Changge nodded and glanced at Ni Chen as he calmly spoke.

Everyone, including the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor, turned towards Ni Chen. They never thought Gu Changge would say that.

Was Gu Changge resting all his hopes on Ni Chen’s shoulders? Did even Gu Changge believe that Ni Chen, the Variable, could change the future somehow?

Ni Chen’s heart tightened. He did not expect Gu Changge to show up at this time. Just like everyone else, he assumed that Gu Changge had left Mountains and Oceans True World.

He felt uneasy in front of Gu Changge. It was as if the latter would be able to see right through his secret.

However, he never thought Gu Changge would choose to fully support his growth either.

When he first went to the Upper Realm to look for Wang Zijin, Gu Changge had kept him out of the Mortal Palace. He had been humiliated and lost much of his Life Force. Yet, Gu Changge was mpw acting as if that incident had not taken place at all. It was as if he truly only cared about the future of tne Mountains and Oceans True World.

Ni Chen was surprised.

In his eyes, someone like Gu Changge should be completely uninterested in the survival of others. Someone who would not care about the fate of the Mountains and Oceans True World, not even if it got destroyed.

But now, the Demon Lord had agreed to fully support his growth.

It felt a little surreal to Ni Chen, but mostly, he found the situation rather amusing.

He wondered what Gu Changge and the others would think when they realised the truth. In the end, the Mountains and Oceans True World would simply be his tool to revive his Clan.

“I won’t let any of you down. I will do my best to take on the Great Purge.” Ni Chen put his thoughts away and cupped his head as he made a solemn declaration.

With Gu Changge and the Gu Family’s Founding Ancestor both stepping forward, the foundation of the overall situation in the Mountains and Oceans True World was basically set. All Forces in every part of the world received the news.

The many universes and ancient worlds in the Mountains and Oceans True World would be welcoming of a new unified front.

The Other Domain, the Remnants of the Immortal Palace, and the Forces from the Primordial Mythical Era had come to an understanding. The time was ripe for a change in the structure of the Mountains and Oceans True World.

The Heavenly Court and the Divine Empire were both dissolved as Gu Changge planned to create the Heavenslayer Alliance.

On this day, lightning streaked through the sky, Dao Flowers formed in the void, and the world was humming. All manner of omens emerged.

When the will of these Forces was transmitted back to their respective lands, and a majestic wave of Power of Will surged forth. Divine light blazed and fell into the Heavenly Court.

Gu Changge was dressed in a dark robe with a crown on his head. His eyes were calm and deep as he stood quietly before the grand palace.

The sky was filled with light that hid stretches of the universe. It was as if a pair of invisible hands were gathering all the universes together.

This was the unimaginable terrifying Power of Will. World Principles were chorusing in unison. The world was blazing. Even the stars were gleaming brightly with unending light.

“On this day, the Heavenslayers Alliance has been established!” Gu Changge spoke calmly. Though his voice was not loud, it seemed to echo across the world and reach the ears of every living being.

Deep in the void, there was the sudden rumbling of terrifying lightning that seemed to want to pierce through the world.

Heaven seemed to have been angered. Rifts and cracks began to form on the edges which were collapsing.

Over in an unknown place somewhere out there, an immeasurably terrifying existence turned its attention onto this world.

In an instant, every being seemed to sense a gaze upon them. This gaze seemed to have cut through the past, present, and future to arrive here.

It was clear that the owner of the gaze was even more terrifying. It was far beyond the depths of the world. It came from the other side of the collapsed world.

What was that?

Not a single living being could describe it. The moment they felt the pairs of eyes on them, it was as if they had lost their Souls and were frozen stuck.

Even the Immortal Kings felt the same way. It was as if time and space had both come to an end!

In that instance, only those in the Dao Realm seemed to be able to break free from the restraints. Everyone else was rooted to the spot.
