“Senior, we’ve heard of your greatness and have come to pay our respects. We are overwhelmed with the Honour of seeing you in person.”
“The heinous Ghost Immortal butchered millions in the Ghost Province, hated by one and all. Senior had exacted Heaven’s judgment as a saint, and your Honourable deed earned every denizen of Ghost Province their respect.”
“It is our highest fortune and blessing to meet you, Senior.”
“…”
And on and on they went.
Chen Changan now saw he was not just famous in the Ghost Province, with these people coming all the way to Myriad Mountains just to meet him after killing Ghost Immortal.
“Senior, will you be joining the Continent Assembly?”
The distinguished Continent Assembly, held once every three centuries, had many thinking Chen Changan would participate for certain. It was why most cultivators chose to go there instead of coming to the Myriad Mountains. They would still get the chance to gawk in shock and awe at the glorious Absolute Dominator, Chen Changan, just later.
Chen Changan said, “I’ve received my invitation.”
The cultivators perked up. “The Continent Assembly is sure to be exciting with Senior’s presence.”
“Senior’s feat of slapping an Immortal dead as the Absolute Dominator has already spread throughout the continent. It made the other Province Lords intent on joining as well.”
“Right, right, I heard it as well. They’re coming to see Senior. Only Senior could instil such respect in the greatest figures on the continent. For the first time, the Province Lords are gathering in the Ancient Phoenix Sect.”
The nine Province Lords held the Province Cauldron, the symbol of their rule and absolute power, and they were all coming to the Continent Assembly for Chen Changan.
It only went to show how much the news of killing Ghost Immortal impacted the provinces.
The only reason the Lords hadn’t come to pay respect to him on Soaring Immortal Mountain in person was out of fear for the Upper Realm’s Immortals.
Chen Changan was taken aback to learn all these things. He did not let his surprise show, though, putting on a poker face. What was more, he had yet to decide whether to really join the assembly.
“Senior, have you come out to join the assembly?”
“No, I’ve come out for my own reasons.”
Since the cultivators weren’t here to denounce him, Chen Changan had lost the initial fear.
Flood Dragon Hei was on his way to Soaring Immortal Mountain to cultivate when he picked up countless foreign energies nearby. He grimaced, “Curses, did these fools come for Senior? I won’t let you disturb him!”
Flood Dragon Hei’s eyes burned with fury, charging for their location. He roared, “Rotten bastards, this is Senior’s holy land, not a place for filthy mongrels to wander about!”
The thundering voice had Chen Changan dizzy from his ringing ears. [For god’s sake! What’s with that obnoxious yell? I’m close to turning deaf as we speak.]
The cultivators looked at the huge Flood Dragon charging in, long as a mountain range, furious as the sea.
Hei was raging and about to tear into these fools for breaching into the Myriad Mountains. But then he noticed someone—a person too obvious and conspicuous, like a light in the dark.
The Demon turned philistine on the spot, as evident by his crass words. “Holy sh*t, Senior!”
He was about to murder these fools, but now he turned meek, back in his human form, as he bowed before Chen Changan.
The cultivators were stunned, knowing for a fact that only a Spirit-Severing Demon Emperor could do that. [When did Myriad Mountains have two Demon Emperors?]
It was thanks to the Immortal Land, of course.
Flood Dragon Hei was at peak Nascent Soul, needing but a meagre century to reach the Spirit Severing Stage.
But due to staying on Soaring Immortal Mountain day in and day out, his progress soared. With his incredible talent and pure bloodline, coupled with the Immortal Land’s assistance, the century was reduced to a few slight days.
This instilled in Hei a whole newfound respect for Chen Changan, to the point of worship.
To put it another way, Chen Changan had won him over without even knowing it.
