After discussing the extent of Roman’s ability as an adventurer, Tamara turned her attention to Arisa.

“Well, now it’s your turn…”

“Yes.”

“Should they leave?”

By ‘they’, she meant Roman and the others.

“No, it’s fine. I can guess why they are here with you.”

Arisa was here because Tamara wanted to hear about the Adventurer Training School run by Crown headquarters.

Arisa was chosen to talk to Tamara because of her role as a teacher. As an added bonus, Roman and the others had been students of Arisa.

Furthermore, since Riku’s case was added, Arisa was chosen to be the most suitable person for the job.

“Well, even though I can call them my students, they have not been solely taught by me. There are many other instructors in the school teaching them various things.”

“I see, so that’s how they set it up.” Tamara, who had somewhat understood why Arisa was assigned to them, nodded in understanding.

By watching their activities, she could tell how well they performed at the Adventurer Training School.

Of course, Roman and the others were among the most talented of the first graduating class.

“As the first graduates of the Adventurer Training School, they are one of the best parties around.”

“I was wondering why they seemed different from normal D ranks, but now I understand.”

“Didn’t the headquarters tell you about them beforehand?”

Arisa was a little puzzled by headquarters’ decision to leave out so much information. She had assumed the branch would have received some kind of notice from headquarters regarding such matters.

“Well, headquarters did allow me the ability to accept or reject the adventurers sent here.”

Arisa was in the same boat as Tamara. She also had to check what kind of people headquarters would choose. After all, even if the people they had chosen were strong, it did not mean much if they would not be willing to work under her guidance, and act appropriately.

The instructions given to her were vague on this front, so both Arisa and Tamara had to personally confirm things directly.

“Oh, Is that so, I see…”

Arisa understood Tamara’s stand point. She could not really raise any complaint and just accepted as it was. After all, as long as those sent were good enough to help them, there would not be a problem. In this regard, it was fortunate, or maybe intentional, that it was Arisa’s past students that got sent.

“I’ll ask you about the details of the arrangements later, but are Roman and the others raised in decent homes?”

Roman’s eyes widened in surprise at the sudden question.

It was a question that came as a complete surprise to Roman.

“No, I mean, all five of us except for him are orphans, right?”

Roman, who did not hide the fact that he was an orphan, and told Tamara.

In a way, he was also deliberately revealing his orphan status because he was grateful to Crown for giving him the opportunity to grow up to become an adventurer.

Tamara’s eyes widened in surprise.

“What? …No, I’m sorry. I’ve heard stories, but seeing it with my own eyes is just remarkable.”

In this world, one’s birth directly affects one’s growth. Even if they wanted to live as an adventurer, they would need to have a certain amount of funding first, to pay for weapons to combat experience.

Even if they could do everything on their own, this was not a world where someone could become an adventurer for free.

Of course, the same applied to other professions besides the widely accepted profession of being an adventurer.

Orphans were either taken in by wealthy families or faced with a life of slavery. Few could end up like Roman, and far fewer can remain calm when talking about their origin.

Those that can talk like this without this past holding them back were those who got taken in by a family without children, and were brought up with great care.

In fact, before entering the Adventure Training School, Roman was just a rough and rowdy kid, who had gone past the stage of being a naughty boy.

Like the other orphans, he was lured into the Adventure Training School due to the promise of free lunches.

“I’ve been reminded of the importance of education.”

When Tamara, who had also been training adventurers for many years, said this, Roman looked uncomfortable.

“I’m able to speak like this now thanks to the instructors at the training school. …Well, I did receive a lot of educational guidance as well.”

Roman said this while glancing at Arisa.

Arisa had provided Roman with a lot of educational guidance in the past, even when he had lashed out at her by saying, ‘There’s nothing a slave like you can teach me!’

“Oh my, I wonder if there’s something wrong with my education?” Arisa, who had been stared at, replied with a smile.

Watching Arisa and Roman chatting so happily, Tamara suddenly asked Arisa as if she had just remembered.

“Speaking of which, it seems like you are a Spirit User. A skilled one at that.”

“Thank you. I was fortunate enough to meet a good teacher, and I am still training to follow his teachings.”

“Hmm… wait a minute. I thought I’d heard your name somewhere before… just a moment.” Tamara suddenly said, and she opened a drawer in her desk. She took out a book from it.

The book was one that Arisa also recognized. After all, she had worked on half of it herself, so it was only natural.

Incidentally, that book was also lent out to students at the Adventurer Training School, who have talent for Spirit Arts.

“Ah, I thought so. As I thought. You are one of the authors of this book, right?”

“Yes, I am. I wrote the part about the basics. My partner wrote about the application.”

“My goodness! I never thought I’d see you here. I’ve always wanted to meet you.”

Tamara’s expression changed. She had suddenly become excited, and her calm demeanor up to that point thoroughly changed.

Arisa looked troubled by her reaction.

Unconcerned, Tamara tilted her head in wonder.

“Hm, that’s strange. I was told that the Arisa-dono who was coming here was a slave?”

“Yes, I am a slave?”

“I believe you earnt a decent amount of money if you wrote such wonderful books, right?”

Tamara tilted her head, wondering if Arisa had been freed from slavery by her own earnings.

“Yes, I do earn a good living, but I’ve met a wonderful Master, and I don’t want to be freed from him. My Master has always told me that he will free me if I wish to.”

Looking at Arisa’s expression as she spoke, Tamara concluded that she was not lying.

She wondered why she wanted to continue being a slave even though she could be freed at any time, but she did not let it slip out.

“I see. So, was it your Master who taught you Spirit Arts?”

Arisa shook her head in response to Tamara’s question.

“No. There were two other people who taught me Spirit Arts. My Master is a different person.”

Tamara, sensing that Arisa was finding it a little difficult to talk about her Master, decided to return the conversation to the subject of Spirit Arts.

“Judging by the surrounding Spirits, I would say you’re quite skilled?”

“No. I’m still nowhere near as good as my Master.”

Tamara was secretly impressed by Arisa’s humility.

For one thing, Arisa took it for granted that she was able to see Spirits, even though she had specifically said that she could only see them when she was in a certain state of mind. Tamara did not actually see Spirits. She could only sense the Spirits that drifted around her.

When Arisa encountered Elves and asked them about Spirits, some would say they could feel them while some could see them.

Arisa accepted such statements without judging.

Still, even from Tamara’s point of view, Arisa’s Spirit Magic was really impressive.

However, she clearly asserted that her Master’s skills were even better than hers.

To have that level of mastery over Spirit Magic, Tamara believes this ‘Master’ must have been a very high-ranking Elf.

Since encountering this book, Tamara had been thinking that she would like to meet the two authors. Other than meeting the authors, Tamara was more keen to meet the one that taught them.
