Before Kousuke and his group started interrogating the leader and the commanders of the attackers, Rein talked to them.

Rein began to prefacing, that after being attacked, he could no longer remain silent on this matter.

Some of the cargo on the lead carriage was loaded with goods to be presented to the Royal Family. These goods were of considerable importance to the Tausen Kingdom, and, for some reason, were greatly sought after.

Information about this was not being circulated to the general public. However, it was well known to most people of a certain rank and above.

It was not known what the Royal Family wanted the goods for, but it was enough for those seeking power to target it.

This time, Rein was requested by a major guild to transport it, However, he did not know what route the major guild would go through in handling the goods once he passed it on.

Incidentally, it was the material of a certain monster. A monster which caused Kousuke’s face to contort when he heard what it was.

The monster was the one mentioned in the request that Kousuke and his team had completed.

Kousuke muttered to himself, “This is too much of a coincidence,” while Kouhi and Mitsuki muttered, “I knew it”.

Rein looked at him strangely, but did not dare to interrupt.

Rein just once again repeated how the requested goods were to be presented to the Royal Family, and his job was to deliver the goods to the major guild. He did not know any more details than that.

He was told that a large sum of money was involved in obtaining the materials.

He also did not know where the information leak was, but he knew that the attackers must have been after this monster material from the very beginning.

The reason why he was telling Kousuke this now was completely in accordance with confidentiality. There was no point in hiding it now that they had been attacked. In fact, it was highly likely that any adventurers who took up this request knew that the convoy was going to be attacked..

It would have been fine if they had arrived at the royal capital without incident, but unfortunately that was no longer the case. The attackers were much more skilled, and Rein did not want them to lower their guard so he decided to disclose this to the others.

Still, this information was only told to Kousuke and his party, who were basically leaders of the convoy. The other adventurers and merchants were unaware of the original purpose.

Adventurers and merchants often received such requests, so they did not bother to ask.

If Kousuke had not been in the leadership role, he would not have asked as well.

After hearing this from Rein, Kousuke and the others began discussing and interrogating the leader and the commanders.

“Ugh…. !” The leader of the attackers, who had regained consciousness, was checking his surroundings in a panic.

There were only two of his companions who had already awakened beside him. Two commanders who have been left to handle the other side of their pincer.

Even though he knew they would be stealing, he did not make them wear black clothes. Instead, he had them all dress as if they were bandits.

“Well, now that you’re awake, why don’t you tell us?” Kousuke asked, flanked by Kouhi and Mitsuki.

Rein was a little further back, watching the situation.

The leader of the group glared at Kousuke.

If it were Kousuke before he came to this world, he would have immediately wanted to run away. However, for Kousuke now, he hardly felt any pressure.

The reason was simple: he had now grown to develop a psychological barrier, to remain unaffected by such intimidation.

“I’m sorry. I know you’ve been training for a long time to complete your duties, so you can confidently glare like that, but putting me in a bad mood would not be to your advantage.”

Kousuke said as much and quickly turned his gaze to Mitsuki.

“Please do it.”

“Yeah. They are really unlucky too. It was a mistake to attack a convoy that Kousuke-sama is escorting.” Mitsuki prefaced her speech with this, and then touched the leader’s forehead with her right index finger.

In that instant, the leader, who until then had been looking relaxed, looked impatient.

“…What did you do!?”

“What do you mean, I just broke down the barriers and other things on you and made you normal.”

“No, that’s ridiculous…! What do you mean? You can’t do that.”

Mitsuki replied to the flustered leader, shrugging her shoulders. “Believe it or not, we can do whatever we want. I think what I did already succeeded when you can be so emotional right now”

The leader’s expression turned into that of surprise when Mitsuki pointed it out.

Something occurred to him.

“I also added something to make you want to answer me honestly.” After looking at the leader’s clearly impatient expression, Mitsuki turned her attention to his two ‘friends’.

“Speaking of which, it would be pitiful if they were left out of the loop, so I’ll do the same for them as well.”

Saying that, she touched their foreheads with a thump, just as she had done with the leader.

With just that, Mitsuki’s work was done.

“Done.” With that, Mitsuki turns her attention to Kousuke.

“Thank you for the hard work.”

“I’m not exhausted, you know. The defenses were really weak.”

The assailants were giving Kousuke a resentful look while Mitsuki acted as though she was a little scared and cried out. Though they seemed ready to kill, Mitsuki naturally was not under any pressure. In fact, the gentle breeze around her was more impactful than their stares.

“…We’re done, Rein-san, you can ask them any questions you like.”

Kousuke simply tells Rein, who had been watching in amazement at how things had been going up to that point.

“Ah, ah… I’m not sure if it’s okay for me to do the asking, will it be alright?”

“It will be fine.” Kousuke replied, looking at Mitsuki.

“That’s right. Please don’t hesitate to ask them anything.”

“Oh, I see. Well then, I will do so.” Rein had a slightly twitchy smile at Mitsuki’s simple answer. Still, he immediately turned to the assailant.

He decided to deal with the assailant first for now, rather than ponder over what Mitsuki did.

Things went smoothly from then on.

The attackers answered Rein’s questions honestly, just as Mitsuki had said.

The attackers, however, did not have much information. The other party was probably taking precautions as well. They did not have any information that would lead directly to those who had requested the attack. At best, they knew the name of the organization that had requested the attack.

The organization was originally rumored to be a dark organization that was taking on shady requests. Only the top management of the organization would know how the request came to them.

The discussion with the assailants ended when they realized that there was no point in questioning them any further.

Rein did not think he would get any more information. However, these people were still important evidence that there was a raid.

What would happen to them was actually none of his concern. Since they had captured them alive, they would transport them to the next town and would hand them over to the guards.

If it was a high-ranking person involved in this attack, they might be able to cover it up, but that was not Rein’s concern.

Rein laughed and said that it was absurd for a peddler to negotiate with the military.

Of course, he would inform the merchant guild that there had been an attack. Unfortunately, Rein could not do anything more than that.

As for Kousuke, he did not really care. He just wanted to quickly finish the current escort request.

In the end, each of them did not want to get involved in anything unnecessary.
