[What’s going on?] Both Yang Ji and Yang Xu questioned what was happening. Although Yang Xu did not explore Yang Ji’s Dantian, she could still sense the Black Ink Strength in his body all being directed there.
She was already prepared to unleash a whole blast of Purifying Light, only to see that the situation had settled.
The one most perplexed by this was naturally none other than Yang Ji. He was the one who could keenly feel the changes in his body. If he were to describe it, it was as though all the Black Ink Strength wanted to do was to settle in his Dantian. It only got aggressive because Yang Ji was intentionally making it hard to reach its desired destination.
Once it found its ‘home’, the Black Ink Strength seemed to become inert. It was as though it did not want to move.
Curious, Yang Ji began to experiment with it. He circulated and manipulated his Qi to start bombarding the balled up clump of Black Ink Strength, but it did nothing. He tried to use his Qi, and focused it to form a sharp edge, to slice the ball apart. However, all that happened was the Black Ink Strength split and reformed back to its original shape.
[What the…] Yang Ji was even more confused as to why this was happening. [It doesn’t seem like it has a mind of its own. It also does not react to my Qi…]
Yang Ji could sense that this thing in his body would not harm him. However, having it there was unnerving, since he did not know what would happen if he left it unattended.
[Okay. Let’s try to remove it now. I can continue experimenting whenever I want to if I can find a way to expel it from my body.] Yang Ji concluded and tried to use his Qi to form hands to try and knead the ball of Black Ink Strength. Unfortunately, even though it was like a dough-like substance, it would always return back to its original form… which was far too big for it to fit through his Meridians.
[Are you serious!?] Yang Ji cursed in his heart and tried even more methods. He tried to slice it into smaller bits, pinch a bit off, roll it and etc. Unfortunately, none of these worked. It felt as if the Black Ink Strength was going to be stuck there.
After each failed attempt, Yang Ji became ever more frustrated. He even contemplated asking his Sister to use Purifying Light on him.
However, the idea of failure to overcome this made him reluctant to do so.
That was when his Sister’s voice entered this mind, “Brother, is everything okay?”
Even with his pride, Yang Ji did not wish to hide anything from her. First, to show that everything was fine, he opened his eyes, only to meet hers. They were slightly red, maybe signs of her tearing up. Regardless, Yang Ji did not find it appropriate to bring it up and just sat up before telling her what had happened.
After recounting what Yang Ji had tried, Yang Xu was curious as she turned her head to Mo Na Ye and asked, “What’s going on? Why is it stuck inside of him?”
Mo Na Ye was also perplexed by this. It was well known that Black Ink Strength would corrupt living beings. In fact, even non-living objects could get corrupted by Black Ink Strength. If anything, all that was on the other side of the Profound Source Gate could get corrupted by Black Ink Strength. This was the first time someone was not getting corrupted by it.
Mo Na Ye could only speculate the reason, without much basis for it. “This is something that even I cannot provide an answer for. But, I might have some guesses of my own. Maybe it has something to do with how you two are children of Yang Kai, someone who has surpassed the known limits of this world?”
Mo Na Ye paused for a bit and continued to try and further deduce the reason, “Both of you, though affected by Black Ink Strength, cannot be truly corrupted by it. Maybe, just like how the Principles of this world are vastly different from yours, your bodies operate with different Principles?”
“But, we still get affected by Black Ink Strength, and feel its effects.” Yang Ji stated, recalling how when the Black Ink Strength reached his heart, he felt a surge of dark emotions.
“You might feel it, but it has never corrupted you, right? I don’t exactly know what you have experienced, but from how I see it, whatever you’ve experienced is fleeting. If I were to give an analogy, it is like the alcohol I once drank with your Father. I can keep it in my mouth, but the taste of it would eventually weaken, so I would need another cup.” Mo Na Ye said his true feelings as an onlooker. To him, it was shocking enough for two kids, who had not even reached the Open Heaven Realm, to be dealing with Black Ink Strength directly. Furthermore, it was not normal Black Ink Strength, but Black Ink Strength Fluid, which was of an even more concentrated form.
This whole topic made Yang Ji even more curious about something more fundamental. Something he had never doubted before. No, something he had thought he already understood, “If that’s the case, what is Black Ink Strength supposed to be?”
In fact, for a large part of this adventure of theirs, even for Yang Kai and the 3,000 Worlds, what did they truly understand about Black Ink Strength? How was this world related to theirs and why did the Profound Source Gate exist?
There were so many unanswered questions which he now had, questions which he had just assumed he had answers to, since others had told him about it.
So now, with this one doubt, a myriad of questions, which might overturn their whole understanding of Mo and everything they knew, had been unleashed.
