Yang Xu, more concerned about her Brother’s well-being, quickly urged him, “That isn’t important right now. We need to get it out of you.”
Yang Ji quickly shook his head to refute her. “No, this is the perfect opportunity to test things out. If not me, then it would be you.” Yang Ji gently tapped on her hand to comfort her as he continued, “Besides, what I said earlier still stands. I don’t think I’ll get corrupted by it, so it is fine to leave it in my Dantian for now. The most pressing issue is to find out its true origins.”
Yang Ji turned his head towards Mo Na Ye, expecting him to already have an answer. However, even Mo Na Ye was pondering over this, with uncertainty in his eyes.
In fact, the Black Ink Clan had never really questioned much about their source of strength, their source of birth. After all, they all just regarded this as the substance created by the Holy One. Thus, it was a blessing for them, and a curse for the others that went against them. It gave them life, gave them power, and helped them communicate.
Was there another substance like this in the world on the other side of the Profound Source Gate?
When Mo Na Ye actually considered it, Black Ink Strength really seemed like a miraculous power. Though he produced it overtime, his was definitely not as potent as that of the Holy One. In fact, only the Holy One could create Innate Royal Lords directly, even Black Ink Giant Spirit Gods.
So far, Mo Na Ye had only thought of the Holy One’s Black Ink Strength as something unique, and unparalleled in power. He had never questioned its existence. So, when Yang Ji asked him this question, he was truly stumped. He did not know how to answer it.
While he was contemplating, Yang Ji and Yang Xu were both looking at him, questioningly. It made things awkward for him, and Mo Na Ye felt pressured to at least say something. Nevertheless, he did not hide how he too was uncertain. “Black Ink Strength is the blessing from the Holy One. We of the Black Ink Clan are beings of it. That is all that we know about it. We have never really questioned it, since questioning it might seem as though we are questioning the Holy One’s blessing.”
Yang Ji immediately sent Yang Xu a message through his Divine Sense, “That just means you know nothing as well!”
Though both twins felt the same, they did not show it on their faces. After all, Mo Na Ye could be considered their Senior. Even if he was their Father’s enemy in the past, this Black Ink Clansman still showed immense respect for their Father. The least they could do was help him save some face at moments like these.
Yang Ji just nodded his head and continued to ask, “In that case, how do you control Black Ink Strength?”
Yang Ji figured if he could not uncover the truth about Black Ink Strength, he might as well try to control the Black Ink Strength clumped up ball inside of him for now. At the very least, be able to get it out of him at will – if possible.
Mo Na Ye lifted his right hand, and Black Ink Strength flowed out of it, encasing his hand as though it was in flowing flames. Soon, he applied more force and the Black Ink Strength flame suddenly erupted to be hundreds of metres high, causing even Yang Ji and Yang Xu to shield themselves.
Thankfully, there was still the Array surrounding the children. So, the impact was not really felt.
Mo Na Ye, having seemingly known no harm would be brought to them, just explained, “I just willed it as such and the Black Ink Strength within me just moves as I willed it to. There is nothing really complicated about it.”
“Then, what about Territory Lords, what difference does their cultivation realm bring? Also, why are Royal Lords stronger than Territory Lords?” Yang Ji expressed his question very quickly after lowering his arm.
“The potency of our Black Ink Strength is certainly one main difference. Our ability to control Black Ink Strength is also different.” Mo Na Ye thought back on the difference between when he was a Territory Lord and a Royal Lord.
“There must be more to it, no? We Humans need to circulate our Qi out of our Dantian to actually make use of the Qi stored inside of us. What about you Black Ink Clansmen?” Yang Xu could not help but ask. Even though she was worried about her Brother, when he got like this, she knew he would be too stubborn to change his mind. Thus, she could only join in and try to help him quickly solve this mystery.
“We too have veins in our body that had black blood flowing in them. Same with meridians and a Dantian. In this regard, we are not too different from you Humans. In terms of utilising Black Ink Strength, I do not believe it is that different from how your kind does it with Qi. Just let it flow out of your body and it can be used.” Mo Ne Ye stated as matter-of-factly.
That statement was not wrong, since Humans too could manipulate their Qi at will once they reached a high enough cultivation realm. However, Humans needed to practise using cultivation techniques first before they could reach such a stage. It was only once they truly got familiar with their Qi and got familiar with how to control it, that it would move as they willed it to. This seemed completely different from how the Black Ink Clansmen did it, in which they seem capable of manipulating Black Ink Strength at birth.
Proof of this was how the Black Ink Clan had Innate Territory Lords and Innate Royal Lords basically knew how to control Black Ink Strength at birth. Meanwhile, Humans need to learn and improve step by step. Even Divine Beasts needed time to grow and learn how to use their Bloodline.
After hearing everything, Yang Ji and Yang Xu felt as though they were at an impasse. If Black Ink Strength was only something a Black Ink Clansmen could manipulate, then nothing else could be done.
However, when they seemed about to give up, Mo Na Ye added, “Now, I do wonder what it is like for Black Ink Disciples. They can grow stronger with Black Ink Strength, just like Acquired Royal Lords…”
Silavin: Damn it. This is taking too long. I have so much I want to write but, due to word constraints, I’m cutting it short and splitting it into so many chapters! Argh! This is frustrating. I need to really find the time to sit down and write longer chapters so that we can move on to more exciting parts instead of lore.
thanks for the chapter. i suppose its a byproduct of how many chapters youve translated, but the flow of the story seems very natural so far. honestly im not surprised its taking this long, though hopefully you dont have as much filler as the original author does.
