The theory was put to the test.

Xu Hei’s Divine Sense went up, down, left, and right to the limit of a hundred meters every time.

It held a huge spacial storage, that of a thousand storage bags.

In the heart of the black jade, Xu Hei found Zhao Yiduo’s treasury—spirit stones piled up high.

“Wha…” Xu Hei gasped.

[That has got to be at least a thousand!]

It all made sense now, why he was unfazed when Hei Huang had a hundred spirit stones worth of items on him. [He didn’t bother with pocket change.]

Xu Hei was overwhelmed to find even more stuff at the side, five fist-sized polished rocks, and a far thicker Spiritual Energy.

[Higher grade spirit stones!]

“How much beast meat or pills can I get with this?” Wild thoughts ran through Xu Hei’s mind.

He was almost depressed at burning away his target’s storage bag, spirit stones included, but thinking it over, those stones would’ve left something behind, even burned. They wouldn’t just vanish like ash.

Now he knew where they were.

With such a large storage space, Xu Hei had to scan every nook and cranny to find them.

“It can pass for a palace with how huge it is. Won’t that make this jade worth more than spirit stones?” Xu Hei pondered.

Zhao Yiduo was a peak Qi Refining outer disciple in the Sky Effigy Sect yet had more wealth than a Foundation Establishment cultivator.

He was clever and lay low, survival traits that would’ve helped him live for many, many years if he hadn’t met the dynamic demon duo.

“I’m rich.” Xu Hei cheered.

He took out a polished spirit stone with a mere thought.

Xu Hei compared it with the average spirit stone, setting them side by side. He found the polished one to be a hundred times better.

“The dog must never know or he’ll nab it.” Xu Hei was vigilant with his newfound wealth.

Caught up in his thoughts, the polished spirit stone shot for his mouth and straight at the Demon God Cauldron.

Or rather the Flood Dragon carving on it.

“Wha…” Xu Hei gawked at the dissolving spirit stone, the dragon carving sucking it up.

“My spirit stone!” Xu Hei wailed.

He stared, powerless, as the carving left behind an empty hunk of rock.

[It shuns the average spirit stones and only goes for the good stuff. What the heck is this carving?]

Xu Hei sensed that the Flood Dragon’s scales were much more vibrant.

After much debate, he took out another. This one also ended up sucked dry.

Two spirit stones were gone just like that.

“This carving has quite the appetite for these high-grade spirit stones. Should I keep feeding it?”

Xu Hei hesitated, reconsidering his remaining three polished spirit stones.

The Flood Dragon carving could take dozens of them, and giving it the rest would be wasting them instead. [I’ll try again when I have more.]

Something told Xu Hei that the Flood Dragon would transform with enough spirit stones.

“I’ll have to ask Hei Huang where to get more of these spirit stones. But where has he run off to these days?” Xu Hei pondered.

“Awo!” Speak of the dog.

“Xu Hei, help! Help!”

Hei Huang squealed in the distance, startling Xu Hei with his mournful cry. [Who did he mess with this time? What got him so scared?]

“Ha-ha, you’re in for it now. Serves you right!” Xu Hei relished in his misery.

Sending out his Divine Sense, the smile froze on his snake face as his spine shivered with widening eyes.

“F*ck…”

Xu Hei used Earthen Motion with uncanny speed to dig upward.

What did he see, you ask?

Down, deep down, a colony of white ants scrambled after Hei Huang in their relentless pursuit. They were billions!

They were in the mines, in the soil, even in the mine shafts, as they ate everything in their path.

Xu Hei didn’t bother to understand the creatures; their sheer numbers made his skin crawl.

“What kind of damned place did the dumb dog pick?” Xu Hei raved.

Xu Hei was three times as fast now, giving him a head start from the screaming dog lagging behind. “Xu Hei, don’t leave me to die! Use your Fireball!”

“On you, perhaps, you moron!” Xu Hei snapped back.

The white ants were swift like lightning, inches from the dog’s tail. He was even missing some fur there from a few close calls, making him shriek.

At least they left Xu Hei alone, which spoke volumes. Who knew what Hei Huang did to piss them off. Or was it because he had a head start?
