Chapter 62, The Wretched Hua Yuntian

Xiao Hei let his small lizards dispose of the bodies, and he sped with Earthen Motion.
A hazy barrier came into view, the Augury Sect’s array. It took the shape of a sphere, shielding the surface, air, and earth from intruders.
The shield had a tiny gap in it and Xiao Hei slipped right in.
Hei Huang threw him a jade disk the second he entered.
“I broke all of Augury Sect’s arrays. Use this whenever you meet a barrier and a gap will form, but it would only last for an incense stick.”
Xu Hei sized the jade disk carved with an Elemental Array and throbbing with mystical aura.
Xiao Hei used Attraction to stick the disc on the barrier, and a hole appeared.
“Would all barriers fare the same?” Xu Hei started.
“Of course, including the sect leader’s cave. Strap yourself with an Invisible Talisman, and no one under the Golden Core Stage will ever see you coming. On account of not exposing yourself by releasing your Divine Sense.”
Hei Huang spoke with smugness.
“Augury Sect has three pill areas. The outer sect and inner sect’s own Alchemy House, as well as the Augury Pavilion, where disciples can exchange for treasures.
“Let’s go with the first two for now and ruffle some feathers, then we’ll pay the Augury Pavilion a visit through the minor Transfer Array I set up before getting out of here with all the bounty.”
Hei Huang repeated the plan, to which Xu Hei nodded.
He knew Hei Huang’s target wasn’t the Alchemy Houses, but the Augury Pavilion’s treasury. It had to be loaded with good stuff.
Xu Hei was wholly in agreement. When you score, score big.
…
The outer sect Alchemy House had mid and low pills.
The inner sect one had high pills for late Qi Refining disciples. The Minor Boost Pill came from here.
Two alchemy elders and many alchemy disciples lived there, not to mention the tight guard. Even getting close was hard.
Hei Huang placed down an array disk to slip through the inner sect barrier, and the dynamic duo used Invisible Talismans to approach the Alchemy House from underground.
Xu Hei saw many Augury Sect female cultivators and other sect’s males.
The males fawned over the girls like simps. He could also hear plenty of noise coming from some rooms, leaving Xu Hei speechless.
“Xu Hei, no simp lives long; you’ll see. Once they lose their value, they get thrown away like garbage.” Hei Huang snickered.
“Simp?” Xu Hei gave him an odd look.
“Why are you staring at me for? Yours truly ain’t no simp, woof!” Hei Huang snapped.(Tamon: simp, or tian gou in Chinese, literally means licking dog.
Xu Hei didn’t get it, but he respected Augury Sect’s power after seeing all these men so infatuated and obsessed.
…
In a particular disciple’s house in the Alchemy House area, Hua Yuntian lay in bed with a face white as paper. He’d yet to fully heal from the heavy wounds and even grew thinner, with his cultivation falling a stage.
A gorgeous girl mounted him, their Spiritual Energy humming with resonance, helping him recover his cultivation to the Foundation Establishment Stage.
He opened his eyes, filled with rage. The joy from recovering his strength wasn’t enough to blunt his horrible experience.
If it weren’t for his master’s Nine Apertures Return Pill saving his life that day, the wild mammoth would’ve trampled him to death.
Not that it made much difference. The stomp crushed his bones, broke his meridians, and shattered his Dantian, regressing his cultivation to late Qi Refining Stage.
He threw his entire fortune on pills, including a Foundation Establishment Pill, along with this currently ongoing dual cultivation with the beauty, all so he could recover his cultivation.
This led to him becoming dirt poor, on top of owing his rear to someone. He was close to pawing his flying sword too.
“Miss Yin Ling, thank you for everything,” Hua Yuntian said.
“Young master Hua, there’s no need for that, not when we’re Dao companions. Helping each other is a given.” Yin Ling smiled.
Hua Yuntian sighed. Her help was crucial in recovering his cultivation, from the fortune of lent spirit stones to acquiring the Foundation Establishment Pill.
But he heard rumors that she got it from a simp.
The mere thought of that conniving coward getting him in this state got his blood to boil and pant, unable to cultivate in peace.
[I vow to find you and blow you into a thousand pieces! I will end you to quell this hatred!]
His rage spiked once more.
“Miss Yin Ling, are you there?”
A voice came from outside, soft and worried about disturbing her. “I heard you weren’t feeling too well, so I brought some recovery pills.”
The youth with a dark skin had a simple appearance, like an innocent puppy.
Yin Ling’s eyes shone with annoyance, her tone reflecting her displeasure. “Leave them by the door and go.”
“Sure.” The youth hesitated after he placed the pills down. “Who else is there with you?”
“Young Master Hua is here to help me with magical arts.”
Yin Ling spoke between ragged breaths and the squeaking of the bed.
The dark youth bit his lip, his heart in twain.
“Oh, him.” He left with a hung head.
After a couple of steps, his fists clenched hard and painfully, unable to bear the real ache happening within.
The nearby girls giggled and whispered among themselves.
“Look, Xiao Qiu is back again.”
“He’s a genius of the Shifting Mountain Sect, but why can’t he ever take a hint?”
“He knows very well Yin Ling is toying with him, yet he still comes sucking up to her. I heard he even offered her a Foundation Establishment Pill.”
“Ha-ha, some men are meant to be cucks.”
“Right?”
…
The black team reached the Alchemy House area.
Despite the thick earth separating them, Xu Hei caught the scent of pills. The day-in and day-out refining suffused the ground itself with an intoxicating aroma.
The area was split into the Alchemy House, appraisal zone, teaching building, and housing.
The building smack center in the area was the Alchemy House. Xu Hei sensed two mighty auras wafting out of there, the power of Foundation Establishment cultivators.
Besides them, he also felt eight weaker ones scattered about, alchemy disciples.
“One elder is at the early-level, while the other is at the mid-level. You lure one away while I’ll deal with the other. Then we get all the pills and meet at the Transfer Array,” Hei Huang spoke.
“You’re free to do it however you please. Kill people or wreck houses; just make sure you get one to follow you. And try not blow it out of proportions.”
The two split up.
Xu Hei went to the disciple houses.
With alchemy being Augury Sect’s main profession, there were many disciples here, each loaded with pills.
Xu Hei wanted it all, their pills, their storage bags, but he reined in the insatiable greed in case he made too much of a mess of things and got the sect leader involved.
Xu Hei let his small snake scout ahead for his targets.
His eyes widened at the familiar aura.
It came from a fancy loft, among the best residences in the housing zone.
Xu Hei flicked his tongue, having an instinctual knack when it came to differentiating auras.
It was Hua Yuntian’s!
“I knew he didn’t die!”
Xu Hei’s eyes shone. “He’s someone important, the disciple of a Golden Core cultivator, with plenty of aces. But heavily wounded, he must’ve come here to heal.”
Xu Hei’s thoughts were a whirl, quick to come to a logical conclusion that led to this development.
Augury Sect, which specialized in alchemy, was as good with pills as the mighty Snake Catchers Sect, not to mention the dual cultivation art they practiced, helping him recover quicker from his wounds and declining cultivation.
He wondered how much the guy recovered. Hua Yuntian was a Foundation Establishment cultivator and vengeful.
He wouldn’t mind snuffing him out as he recovered and ending one headache.
Xu Hei approached with caution, noticing the dazed Shifting Mountain Sect youth looking heartbroken.
A strange symphony came from within the building, not exactly musical, but having a certain rhythm nonetheless.
Each thump was like a blow to the youth’s face.
“Wha…” Xu Hei made a face.
