Huang Yu’s terror dwindled at their arrival, but her mind was set.

She hinted at the unresponsive talisman in her hand. “I’ve scanned the area ahead already and didn’t find anything.”

The Foundation Establishment female cultivator nodded. “Tch, just where in heaven’s name is that demon? It’s truly baffling.”

“I reckon it’s always on the move. How else do you explain not finding it after scouting every possible area,” the aged woman spoke.

The two left as they discussed.

With the Augury Sect so large and the demon dodging the scouting parties, they’d never find it.

The only issue in all of this was how did the demon manage to lip every time if he didn’t sense the scouts through its Divine Sense?

Huang Yu relaxed, looking at the ground and space ahead of her and bowing before taking slow and steady steps backward.

Xu Hei never left her out of his sight.

His heart was in his throat, ready to skewer Huang Yu the second she took a step closer.

But as the two Foundation Establishment elders showed up, he was once again ready to jump into action at the first slip of the disciple’s tongue.

Xu Hei would be found out, but the girl would meet her demise.

In the end, the plain girl chose her only chance of surviving. Looking at it another way, she was also helping them.

[She’s no pushover, and by the looks of her earth martial arts, her spirit root must be high. But why is she only at the 7th layer?]

Her low cultivation was a stark contrast with his understanding of intelligent people, who should have a strong cultivation in any regard.

Recalling Zhao Wenzhuo, the guy was just as weak but made up for it in cunningness. Though he didn’t know the guy’s spirit root.

As Huang Yu left, the place grew silent and allowed Xu Hei to ease his tense focus.

Hei Huang finished the last step.

    “Mission accomplished.” Hei Huang said.

    Whoosh~

Xu Hei used Earthen Motion to charge for Hei Huang, where the dog made a hole in the barrier.

The two went through with Xu Hei going first, right in time too, as the hole sealed up behind them.

“Haa~, that was tense, but we’re safe now.” Hei Huang breathed easier.

To his surprise, he found Xu Hei to be one reliable snake, funny enough.

Xu Hei stopped him before he fell for the trap in Augury Pavilion. While unclear if he would’ve been captured, it was safe to say he’d have to pay the price to get away from a Golden Core cultivator’s scrutiny.

“Little Xu, I owe you one. Hey, where’s the fire? We’re safe!”

Seeing Xu Hei running for his life, even using the Divine Step Talisman, Hei Huang was forced to keep up.

But then he found the black snake speeding further, using every pill he could to gain even a sliver of more speed.

Hei Huang darkened, finding the situation unsettling. He was quick to give his all to speed away too.

The second they left, the ever-silent ancestor above the Augury Sect’s plaza snapped her eyes open with blazing determination.

“Humph, I knew it’d escape! Don’t think you’ll get far!”

He Luohua flashed away with insane speed, gunning for them. She was outside the Augury Sect’s barrier then and there.

She stayed put all this time to calculate and think, like Xu Hei, the other party’s means of escaping.

The opponent was so cunning that the slightest disregard would mean defeat.

She didn’t join the scouting parties so she could add her Divine Sense to the sect’s barrier.

The second it was breached, the culprit would be marked by her Divine Sense.

The enemy might escape but would drop his guard and let the mark take hold of them and reveal their position to her.

    Boom!

The air warped with every wave of raw power unleashed into the world, increasing with relentless speed as something raced through it.

Hei Huang winced, scared out of his mind, “Xu Hei, wait for me!”

Xu Hei’s response was to go even faster, the highest speed he’d ever gone in his short life, and yet no faster than an ant by comparison when the Golden Core old bat was involved.

The woman sneered, “Ha-ha, so there’s two of you rats. Neither of you is going anywhere.”

He Luohua flicked a hand and a golden bowl slammed into the earth, sealing the sky.

Golden light flared, and the bowl’s edge extended downward, into the earth, cutting off Xu Hei’s escape. Nothing within two miles was getting out this time.

    “Supreme Golden Bowl, collect!”

He Luohua’s shout triggered a powerful pull to drag Xu Hei and Hei Huang from the depths and into the bowl.

Xu Hei cursed, “What are you waiting for, you stray? Use your damn cards or we’re screwed!”

The dog did say he had something so incredible, so deadly, that the Augury Sect would never even think about touching him.

“I would if I had any, Xu Hei!” Hei Huang whined in the air.

“Blasted! I’d rather be lower than a mutt than listen to you again!” Xu Hei raged.

The hag had a constant sneer on her face. It turned out that the demon she thought was so cunning and sly was just these two worms.

The demons came out of the earth and rose higher in the air.

Hei Huang sighed. “I just wanted that old bat to get closer, but she used a magic treasure, leaving me no choice.”

Hei Huang touched his storage bag.

A deadly pressure erupted, warping the whole sky and earth with its might.

    Ka~ Boom!

The Supreme Golden Bowl’s glow withdrew and its pull vanished. He Luohua paled and recoiled.

    Bang!

The bowl flew back in her hand.

She stared hard at Hei Huang’s item.

Xu Hei was in shock, dumbfounded at what he was seeing.

    A human.

He wore a yellow Daoist robe, looking thin as a rake and covered in so many wrinkles he lost his appearance. His beard fell off, and his dried-up skin sported cracks.

Xu Hei stared at the mountain painted on his back, the Shifting Mountain Sect’s symbol.

The man stood tall, regardless of how aged he was, like a mountain, lofty and unsurmountable.

His overwhelming aura overflowed the world around him.

He Luohua shrieked. “Ancestor Ban Shan!?”
