Chapter 74, Compassionate and Aggrieved Ferrying
by SilavinTranslator: Tamon
Pff!
Blood shot out of the nose like water from a firehose. Xu Hei went to block it, only for the jet to use the backdoor.
Plugging all the holes, Xu Hei watched as Xiao Qiu ballooned by the second.
“Come on, just stop already!”
Xu Hei was outraged, having the puppet punch Xiao Qiu in the face. With a pop, blood gushed, and Xiao Qiu slammed into the cave wall.
A few moments later, he slid down the wall, leaving a human imprint while he lay limp on the ground.
Xu Hei waited, only breathing easier when the blood stopped puffing out.
“Guess punching does solve everything. The Blood Supplementing Pill’s effect is outrageous. You have to use violence to stop it.” Xu Hei nodded to himself.
He inspected Xiao Qiu’s now rosy face and knew he was better.
Say what you will, Blood Supplementing Pill worked. Well, the subject had his face skewed there a bit, like a mask of pain.
“Eh? Where does it hurt? Speak!” Xu Hei said.
Thinking about it, he had a puppet hoist Xiao Qiu by the leg.
Xu Hei shook a little as he sent his voice through the puppet. “Hey, wake up! Say something!”
He gave Xiao Qiu a whirl, a couple of spins for good measure, but the guy was still in dreamland, except for the odd twitch.
“How peculiar. What’s your face supposed to mean?” Xu Hei pondered.
He looked him over and settled his eyes on the storage bag at the waist.
A smile grew on his snake face.
“Giving me the silent treatment? I’ll just take a peek in your storage bag.”
Xu Hei let him go, except for the storage bag.
Xiao Qiu took it back in reflex, his grimace showing his unwillingness.
Xu Hei chuckled and used Demon Bindings to hog-tie him.
“Why, you got some precious little thing in there you don’t want anyone to see?”
Xu Hei grinned, throwing the bundled-up Xiao Qiu to the side. The snake spent the next minutes removing the Divine Sense mark on the bag.
He gave it a shake and the bag spilled its contents on the floor.
Xu Hei’s face was blank. “I-Isn’t this too poor?”
The bag didn’t have a single spirit stone.
No pills, talismans, or magic treasures, nothing, nada! Oh, except for some mortal stuff like buns, pickles, water gourd, clothes, and other random junk.
[And you call yourself a cultivator?]
For a second there, Xu Hei thought he got a mortal.
Literally any Qi Refining cultivator out there was richer than him.
He got happy for nothing, thinking there was some good stuff in there from his captive’s reaction.
Xu Hei glanced at the pile of junk and noticed a bamboo slip with words on it.
Xu Hei’s curiosity got the best of him, and he read it.
The content was odd, like a diary.
“Spent thirty spirit stones yesterday buying Fairy Yin Ling’s clothes. She said she wouldn’t sell it for a hundred to anyone else, only to me. I knew she liked me…
“Young Master Hua beat me up, and I wanted to fight back only to give up because you said you like nice guys…”
Xu Hei read before Xiao Qiu, whose face twisted from grief.
Xu Hei skimmed over it.
There was even ‘Yin Ling gave me a lock of her hair, and I gave her a Foundation Establishment pill in gratitude’ at the end. The dumb sucker truly opened Xu Hei’s eyes.
“The guy must be deviating.”
Xu Hei couldn’t grasp this person’s thinking.[I get you want to mate, but a simple blow to the head to knock her out would be enough. Why go through all that bother?]
[That’s why you’re dirt-poor.]
Xu Hei glanced at the sleeping Xiao Qiu.
His features looked lively, an obvious sign that his body was perceptive, just that he wasn’t waking up.
“Seeing you as such a loser, I’ll be a good snake and wake you up.”
Xu Hei took out a light yellow pill from the crossbones storage bag.
Divine Rousing Pill, a nice little pill that cleared the mind.
He stuffed it into Xiao Qiu’s mouth.
Cough~
The guy coughed out of nowhere and spat the pill.
“Hmm, no appetite?”
Xu Hei widened, about to force-feed it when he noticed a trace of smoke coming off the pill. It was evaporating and filling the cave with its potent fragrance.
Xu Hei’s puppet was inside while he was outside.
Nevertheless, Xu Hei was still assaulted by a god-awful stench.
The smell seeped through the rocky walls and the dirt, spreading for a hundred meters.
“What on earth is that foul stench?”
Xu Hei grimaced and retreated a good distance as the putrid smell grew stronger. It permeated the air and almost made him empty his stomach.
“Ugh!”
The unconscious Xiao Qiu shot out of the cave while holding his throat for dear life and puking his guts, not just food, but every single thing, then proceeded to dry heave for longer.
The fetid smell was so strong, that one couldn’t even begin to describe it.
The puppet itself felt wrong as well, its rocks corroded.
“Agh!” Xu Hei wailed as he fled.
He burrowed a hundred meters, and even used the space-isolating Golden Shield Talisman to block the blighted stench.
“That’s a Divine Rousing Pill?” Xu Hei gawked.
At least Xiao Qiu’s mind got reeked out of unconsciousness.
Xiao Qiu lay limp on the ground, his voice shaky like a dying man. “S-Senior…”
Xu Hei started, sending his puppet closer. “I’m listening.”
Xiao Qiu was in pain, holding his breath for dear life, but nothing could keep that rot from seeping in, making him turn purple.
“Senior, c-could you give me a quick ending?”
His shaky voice finally came out.
Xiao Qiu had never had a stronger will to die in his short life.
He’d been giving his all to escape from the two chasing him, clinging to life with every fiber. Yet now, falling into this stoneman’s hands, it felt worse than hell, subjected to unspeakable torture.
His body and mind were traumatized to the point death felt sweeter. He was tired and no longer cared about living, so long as he could end this suffering.
Xu Hei shook his head.
“Can’t do. I’ve gone through too much to save you to let you die.”
Xu Hei couldn’t grasp how there were people out there yearning for death.
“Senior! I…” Xiao Qiu cried tears of agony.
“Hey, crying now? Aren’t you a man?
Xu Hei was even more baffled.
A few miles away, Hua Yuntian and his partner followed the many bloodstains as they continued their search through the forest.
“Ha-ha, the punk sure can run, even after being poisoned by the Thousand Snake Venom. He must be close to dying.” Hua Yuntian sneered.
“I heard he used all his wealth to get a Foundation Establishment Pill and has nothing left on him. He has to be dead.” The other man nodded.
Hua Yuntian grinned. “I want to see his corpse.”
His search ground to a halt out of nowhere.
Hua Yuntian’s nose twitched and pinched it. As he passed by a large tree, he leaned on it and voided his stomach on the ground.
“Ugh!”
The other’s perplexity was short-lived, five seconds in fact, for he was soon on his knees and doing the exact same thing.
“What the hell kind of stench is that?”
“I can’t take it! I’ve never smelled anything as foul in my life!”
“My eyes are melting!”
