We had entered the season where the days were warmer while cold sometimes crept in after the sun went down.

Apparently, it was going to be a cold evening tonight and it felt a bit chilly when the wind blew.

“Lady Violet, are you cold?”

“No. I can handle this much.”

I replied, alright, and stared absentmindedly in the direction the army was supposed to make their entrance.

We were engaged in a word game until a moment ago, but I’m already bored of it. Maybe I should have brought a book so I could have passed the time reading it.

Had there been no knights in the party, I could have simply waited for them to call upon me. Since that isn’t the case, I have no choice but to personally welcome them as their station is above mine.

“If they don’t arrive in a while, feel free to go back home everyone.”

As I wasn’t sure of their ETA, I’d let Gray, Lady Violet, Priest Snow White and the others know that they could go back if they wanted, but they chose to conscientiously wait along with me.

That said… I wonder why they are running late. I hope they haven’t gotten the dates mixed up as it was in Lady Violet’s case.

“Haha, just when the hell will they arrive?”

I think Cyan’s nearing her limit.

Despite the Priest being present, her choice of words clearly revealed her true colors. The Priest did ask her to watch her language but he seemed to have found himself bored and started reading the Bible, He even seemed to slightly nod in agreement.

“Hey, Clo. When will the female military personnel get here?! If they don’t show up quickly then all the arrangements I have made, to have a nice evening out, would go to waste!”

“Just leave.”

“Well, if they aren’t coming, I guess I just need to find a lady around here. Bye then, I’ve got to go put out some feelers, hah!

As I continued to wait, Khaki appeared, said his piece and smiled as if he reached an agreement with himself and left the place. What the hell did he come here for?

So long as no one engages him, he won’t bother the military women, so I can just ignore him for now. I’ll just ask his chaperone to keep him on a leash later.

“Ha, the putrid Paleriders are still wandering the abyss. Very well, I shall patrol the borders with the magic I newly invented named, ‘Invisible Dark’!”

“Listen to me. Just go home.”

And so, Apricot threw on her cape with a flourish, got hold of her wand and struck a pose.

What’s with these people? Did they make plans to meet here?

“Lady Apricot, could you please tell me what kind of spell this ‘Invisible Dark’ is?”

“Wonderful question, my dear disciple. Despite someone being physically present in a place, this spell, which is untraceable through detection magic, is (probably) capable of erasing their presence!”

“Oh wow, that sounds magnificent, I wouldn’t expect any less from you, Lady Apricot!”

Gray sang her praises with his eyes shining while Apricot’s cape fluttered in the wind and she looked very smug. Lady Violet sent me a look which seemed to ask if it was alright to leave them be, but as Apricot really does end up pulling off the impossible at times, I can’t really refute her and since they seemed to be having fun, I didn’t want to put a stop to it.

“Hm, Clo. Seeing as how you’re still here, I take it the army is yet to arrive?”

“Yeah. They seem to be running late.”

“For goodness sake, what else can you expect from the military…?! Don’t tell me they are late, because they got into… trouble! Meaning there could be people who are hurt, I need to rush to them!”

“Don’t try to run off as if you just received a divine oracle!”

“Hey, let me go! Injuries and wounds await me!”

Do these guys simply have too much time to spare?

I hope they aren’t acting up because I haven’t been paying them any attention. After everyone made an effort to stop her, Ivory somehow reluctantly left the place.

“Mwahaha, Clo. This is a device that will automatically shine light onto darkness. You don’t need to constantly feed it mana, but as long as you jumpstart it with a bit of mana, it will continue to light up its vicinity for a long period of time.”

“Ah, is that what I requested to be made after the Fenrir incident? Thank you.”

“Mwahaha… this is the operating manual. Also the nights are getting colder, so I got this to keep you guys warm.”

“Thanks. I’ll pay for the lamp the next time we meet.”

Orchid handed over the lamp made with newly improved fire stone, passed around warm drinks to everyone and left, laughing. His black, pet cat was at his side and it also seemed to meow in tandem.

“… Dear me. I know he’s not a bad person, but I just can’t get used to him.”

I can’t blame her since he totally looks like an evil sorcerer scheming to overthrow the government. Even just now, he magically popped up out of the shadows.

However, compared to the rest, I’m so much more grateful for him.

Hmm, the black tea is also warm and delicious.

I placed the cup on the ground after finishing it, and watched it disintegrate and dissolve into the earth, leaving no trace behind. As convenient as it looks… I wonder about the trick behind it.

“Ah, looks like they are here.”

The Priest closed the Bible, looked in the direction of their arrival and announced their coming.

Honestly, all I could make out were blurry movements in the distance, but obviously the Priest’s vision seems to be the sharpest among us, so he must be right.

“…Hmm?”

“Is something the matter, Father?”

I wonder what puzzled the Priest, for he gazed at military personnel in bewilderment. Upon Cyan questioning him, he looked worried for a minute before answering.

“Well, they seem… a little too young to be in the army and I think they are dressed differently too.”

Young and dressed differently? Is it a group of tourists or worst case, a band of robbers?

But yeah, he’s right that something’s weird. They were within my range of sight and yes, they were dressed differently.

There were two groups of people fully dressed in black and another in white and there were also girls wearing skirts among them. Moreover, they were young.

They definitely don’t look like army—

“Oh, is that…”

“…”

They don’t look like military personnel. There’s no way they could.

They were clad in the government-funded academy issue uniform, that separated nobles and commoners by color and it’s also what I had to put on until a few years prior.

In short, it was the uniform of Azalea Academy. Meaning, the ones who had arrived were students of Azalea Academy.

“Please forgive us, we got into a spot of trouble and arrived later than planned. We are—“

For Lady Violet, it’s the Academy she attended up until two months ago.

“Why… are you here, Violet Valentine?”

Meaning she was faced with people she never wanted to meet again.
