POV: Violet
If I could have my way, I’d make use of Ash’s authority as a member of the executive committee to gain access to the infirmary prepared for the tournament and pretty much make a beeline to Lord Clo, but since I didn’t want to make trouble for him, I decided to get there as fast as possible within reasonable limits.
“Ah, it’s you. Violet.”
Standing at the entrance to the infirmary was His Highness Vermillion, Mary Sue’s escort and Chartreuse, Eclu and Silva who had all come to see her in concern for her well-being. Looks like they were also just about to enter the infirmary.
Though His Highness shot me a look that seemed to say, ‘What did you come here for…’
“Hmph, you–”
“Shut up and get out of my way.”
“What…?!”
I didn’t give a damn about His Highness. Lord Clo was all I could think about.
They seemed to take turns between searching my face and blocking my path into the infirmary, in short, they were in my way.
“She’s right. Shut up Your Highness, you’re being difficult.”
“Ash?!”
Ash who had rushed over just like us, also treated His Highness as a nuisance and addressed him casually as he would in private settings. Hm, good job backing me up, Ash. I guess it’s not so surprising given that he’s His Highness’s attendant. Although, he did snub his own master just then.
“Have you taken leave of your senses, Ash?! You know very well we can’t let her get anywhere near Ms. Mary! I can’t deny that he’s being a nuisance though.”
“He’s not wrong. We’re already worried sick as it is that Ms. Mary is alone with him, we can’t afford to add more fuel to the fire. But I also can’t deny that High Highness is being a nuisance.”
“Silva?! Eclu?! How could you?!”
“Calm down, Vermillion. Just like you, I’m also wondering what’s making her want to push past us and get in there before anyone else, but now’s not the time for that.”
“Are you pretending to chastise me but actually fanning the flames instead?”
“… What do you mean??”
There were two others blocking our entry, Eclu and Silva. They displayed as much animosity as they did back when I dueled them. Also, I’m not sure if it’s just in my head but I could sense a dark aura around Silva.
Either way, who cares. All I want is to immediately open the door to the infirmary that these guys are blocking.
“Sorry but could you let me pass? I saw Lord Clo lose consciousness and as his Wife, I wish to be by his side.”
I couldn’t possibly force my way in, given the time and place.
I suppressed the urge to run to Lord Clo’s side, and tried my best to maintain my calm as I requested them to let me through. Any display of aggression would only arouse suspicion in them.
“We can’t allow that. There’s no way we can trust you. As long as Ms. Mary’s in there, you’re not getting past us.”
… Maybe we should force our way through after all.
Calm down. In their eyes, all I am is an enemy of the one they hold dear. If the situation were reversed, I wouldn’t want them to meet Lord Clo either. So, their wariness is not entirely baseless.
“Besides, I can’t imagine you getting along with any man. Not a short-tempered woman like you who likes forcing your ideals on your partner.”
“He’s got a point. I’m sure Baron Heartfield would be able to rest easy if he doesn’t see you. Though you may be husband and wife, I doubt he finds you endearing. Besides, I’m not sure you even love him. You kept claiming to be in love with me just until recently.”
… Never mind, I definitely can’t let that comment slide.
“Stop being ridiculous! Lord Clo is my precious Husband who loves me! And I love him back! And I want to go to see him, do you have a problem with that?!”
“Milady, please calm down!”
“Oh, that sounds like– ah!”
Seeing me get all worked up, Amber advised me to calm down but I didn’t care. I hate that they doubt my love for Lord Clo, and I’ve had it up to here with their arrogance. Also, I just want to go to Lord Clo already.
Is it just me or is Burnt trying his best not to say anything?
“My Mother isn’t lying. My Father cherishes her so much he hasn’t even kissed her yet!”
“They don’t need to know that, Gray!”
Truth though it may be, saying it out loud does little to help in this situation.
“Meaning, he doesn’t find her attractive! And someone who needs constant supervision and guidance like me–”
“Ms. Mary sees you as nothing more than a Little Brother, so shut up, Silva.”
“Ash?! Just whose side are you on?!”
“Shut your mouth! I’m the guy she helped make a contract with a spirit! That’s right, Mary did! All for me! And I love her!”
“So do I! More than anyone else in the world! I’ve long decided to make her my consort and live a life of no regrets together!”
“I can’t ignore that even if it’s coming from you, Your Highness! I’m sure no one here has realized just how much Mary yearns for me! I will fight the whole world if it means I can stay by her side and protect her smile.”
“I too–”
“You know nothing about love, shut it, Chartreuse.”
“Why are you guys so mean to me?!”
Are you seriously asking why when you’re too shy to even say her name?
Before becoming strong enough to protect her, maybe you should try saying a word or two to her.
“Hey. If you keep standing around here and professing your love like idiots, you will be heard insid—”
Things got heated up and Ms. Cyan tried to get us to pipe down when the infirmary door suddenly swung open.
No way! Lord Clo?! Or Ms. Mary? Doesn’t matter who, any one of them will do at the moment–
“Hey! What the hell do you think you’re doing in my turf (infirmary)?”
“…….”
“Are you the academy physician? Huh, why did you guys freeze in your tracks?”
The one that emerged out of the infirmary was the academy’s somber physician, Doctor Greenery. All of us clammed up and stood still. The only ones who weren’t frozen in place were the people who didn’t know him, Gray and Ms. Cyan.
He’s the eccentric second son of the Nightingale house, a marquisate, who also moonlights as a physician. And…
“If all you’re going to do is disturb the peace of my patients–”
He was called ‘Berserker’ in his student days. He was strong enough to overpower even His Highness.
He was also Azalea academy’s warrior physician, well known for looking after his patients until they got a clean bill of health, regardless of their status or circumstances. There were no exceptions to this rule and there was no one in the academy who could oppose him.
In short…
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a prince or a pauper, I’ll have you removed from the premises.”
In short, we’re simply baby chicks in front of the Berserker.

Greenery Nightingale
He’s an attractive, somber, middle-aged man and one of the minor characters that show up in the game, Ring of Fire.
One of the best warriors in the academy who can humble and overpower any boisterous visitor. People have no choice but to comply since he has authority, status and is physically strong.
Basically, his role was to deal with any noisy visitors when the main characters in the game end up in the infirmary.
